I have been trawling through many different forums and cannot find anywhere that tells me how i launch "Car Dock Mode", does anyone know how i get this to launch on my Desire? I have a non branded Stock HTC Froyo Rom installed (Non Rooted). Any help anyone can give me would be fantastic as I am going down to Bournemouth tonight and could do with this in the car.

To start, I'll say I've done much searching on my question, both on this forum and others. Plus, I've searched AppBrain using many parameters to no avail.So, that little disclaimer out of the way....I have a DX. My last device was the original Droid. After the upgrade to Froyo on my original Droid, I noticed two really cool and, for me, useful dock functions that do not work with the Froyo upgrade on my DX. Original Droid (w/Froyo): When I would put the Droid in the car dock, there was a nice little icon that said EXIT. Meaning it would go out of car dock completely when you touched it. Even the icon in the top bar would go away. Also, when I hit the home button, say out of Navigation, it would take me to my regular home, vice back to the car dock home. I LOVED this, as I dislike and do not use the car dock mode ever. This icon is non-existent on the Froyo car dock mode on my DX. Next. Again, original Droid (w/Froyo. and I state this because with Eclair, these functions were not there): When plugged in for the night, I would touch my Retro Clock app widget, and (I don't know why, it just did) it would launch the Home Dock screen. (with weather, music icon, etc...) Now this I LOVED also, as I could set my alarm, check the weather where I was at, and even get some news headlines before going to sleep. Plus, it would then go into screen saver mode, dimming the screen nicely. I would like very much to get this kind of functionality back in both instances. Does anyone have any ideas for apps that would kill the car dock mode completely, either permanently, or at least every time I put it in the car dock?And is there some way to launch the home dock mode while in the car dock?I am a truck driver, and the car dock is where I put my X to charge at night.

It's nice, but I don't want to buy it right now. However, I do very much like the display that appears when it is docked. I can't find a way to launch this without the dock itself, and I'm certain there has to be a way. What am I missing?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to enable car dock mode on an Incredible? I don't mean just starting the car dock app, but having it automatically start when you put the phone in a dock. I know it works on motorola phone with magnets. I've been using Custom Car Home and it's supposed to take over the Home button when you're in a car dock, but doesn't work on the Incredible since we don't have fancy magnetic docks. I read on the EVO board that the new HTC car dock for the EVO puts it in car dock mode and was wondering if there was a way for us to enable this too. Perhaps a special USB charging cable to use in the car that sends some sort of signal?

my phone constantly goes into the docking screen, constantly, i dont want the mode at all.
Every time I put my S3 on the Samsung dock and it goes into dock mode, it shows the temp in my area of 47 degrees no matter if that's true or not. It says it pulls its data from AccuWeather, and when I check there the temp is correct. But no matter what is ALWAYS says 47 degrees when in dock mode.
Does there something I need to do for the correct temp to pass through?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just can't figure it out. I am running BBv0.9. I did a total data wipe, so I have been resetting my apps and settings. Last night when I plugged my Droid into my multimedia dock it of course gave me the option to choose "Clock" or "Mulitmedia" for display on the dock. Well, since I like the Mulitmedia look, I checked "Set as default" and chose Multimedia. Well apparently that option doesnt play nice with this ROM. All options (alarm, weather, music, etc) give me an instant FC message! My question is how do I "uncheck" that from being my default dock display? I have gone in to Manage Applications, Running Services...no options to change default setting.

I myself have not manually made this change nor install any software that knowingly does this. What I did install yesterday was WinAmp beta, YouTube from market (although everytime I look at my downloads, youtube still says its downloading) ADW Theme found yesterday on DroidLife (which was a waste).

I have two activities: a MainListActivity, and a DetailViewActivity. DetailViewActivity is set with android:launchMode="singleTop".
When clicking an item in the "main list" activity, it launches the "detail view" activity via:
startActivityForResult(detailIntent, REQUEST_CODE_DETAIL);
If I then call setResult(RESULT_OK, resultData); and finish(); from within the Detail activity, that resultData is received by the "main list" activity's onActivityResult(..) method correctly.
However, if I implement a "see previous"/"see next" type of navigation within the Detail activity, and implement it using singleTop, that result no longer gets sent back to the initial activity:
Intent nextItemIntent = this.createIntent(nextId);
nextItemIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_FORWARD_RESULT);
startActivity(nextItemIntent);
// at this point, my DetailActivity's onNewIntent() method is called, and the new data is loaded properly
But from here, when I call setResult(..) and finish(), my MainList activity never receives the new/updated result. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

When you place your Droid in the dock, the dock home screen automatically appears. I noticed recently that when I sit my Droid on top of my iHome (yes, I have an iPod), the dock home screen appears as if I had just placed it into my dock. For some reason or another, the iHome is forcing my Droid into dock mode. Any ideas as to why this happens? Also, can anyone reproduce this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI read in the Android documentation that by setting my Activity's launchMode property to singleTop OR by adding the FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP flag to my Intent, that calling startActivity(intent) would reuse a single Activity instance and give me the Intent in the onNewIntent callback. I did both of these things, and onNewIntent never fires and onCreate fires every time. The docs also say that this.getIntent() returns the intent that was first passed to the Activity when it was first created. In onCreate I'm calling getIntent and I'm getting a new one every time (I'm creating the intent object in another activity and adding an extra to it...this extra should be the same every time if it was returning me the same intent object). All this leads me to believe that my activity is not acting like a "single top", and I don't understand why.
To add some background in case I'm simply missing a required step, here's my Activity declaration in the manifest and the code I'm using to launch the activity. The Activity itself doesn't do anything worth mentioning in regards to this:

What are advantage and disadvantage of applying android:launchMode="singleInstance" in the android.manifest file. Will it hamper the services in the application? And how is it related to the performance of the application?

That the Desire seems to have dock connectors on the bottom like the N1. Anyone now anything about this for sure? Will it fit the N1 dock?
Can anyone recommend me the best car dock/cradle for the desire. Im quite tempted to buy this one, HTC Desire Car Pack Reviews & Comments. If anyone can recommend better it would be appreciated.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter biting the bullet and rooting my t-mobile HTC Desire using unrevoked3 I now have super user access. I've installed Titanium Backup and Rom Manager and downloaded a couple of ROMs to try out. I tried DeFrost 2.7 from Droid Den and CyanogenMod 6.0.0 downloaded direct through ROM manager. I backed up and tried to get the new ROMs running. Both times the phone went through the backup and boot process with everything looking fine but when it started up it wouldn't fully boot. With the CyanogenMod I just got the CyanogenMod blue circle/arrow animation cycling over and over and with DeFrost never got past the pink circle, even after leaving it for an hour. I can take out the battery and restore through nandroid no problem but obviously one of the main reasons to root is to try new Roms. I was hoping someone can see what I'm missing here

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have a LauncherPro style dock but still using Sense?I like the way LauncherPro has Web/Phone/Text etc icons along the bottom which frees up screen space. Sense only gives 3 of which the '+' button is pointless as it is just the same as a long press. Would rather avoid changing altogether to LP if at all possible.

One slight problem though, I'm running Defrost 2.9a with Launcher Pro, and have changed the dock icons to custom ones. However, every so often, two of these custom icons revert back to the original ones for no reason?! Anybody had anything similar. I would definitely pay for the Pro version of this app, if I knew that would fix the issue...

If I use the hide status bar option I get an empty Black bar at the top and half the icons are pushed down at The bottom of the screen. Not all the time just now and again. The icons stil function ......I know its probably linked to an app I'm running But I can't find which one after many deletes and Reinstalls.
