View 6 RepliesMy girlfriends 10 year old loves my new Desire and I'm happy for her to play games and generally mess around on it, but there are things i don't want her to see in my messages and e-mails. No matter how many times I tell her to stay out it seems she just can't help herself. Is there any way (or what is the best way) to lock the messages so that she can't see the things I don't want her to?

i got b-folder... but you can only lock stuff you created using b-folder in it..
i can't for example put a music folder or video folder or excel file in it to prevent unauthorised viewing and stuff.
Is there a way of "locking" the phone to stop it working whilst in pocket etc?

View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyone know of a widget to simply lock the screen or put into sleep mode by pressing something on the screen rather than pressing the power button on the top of the phone. Tried looking around and unless I'm missing something (I am particularly good at missing the obvious!) there doesn't seem to be anything that does just that. Anyone know/come across anything that will do this? Does anyone know if this might be included in 2.2?

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis may seem like a stupid question but I need to be sure. I was wondering if it was possible to pro-grammatically change the Content Provider used when making a query given a Content URI. The reason being I need to know if it's possible to force the Calendar/Contacts applications to read from a different database via a different Content Provider temporarily while my application is running, so that I can reuse those applications to display my own data. Since the Content URI s are hard coded in each of these applications the only way it might be possible is if we could somehow temporarily change the Content Provider used for a given URI. I know this probably isn't possible, I just need to show it isn't. Could someone confirm this can't be done?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a hard time understanding content providers. In the notepad example and others, the content provider never even declares its CONTENT_URI anywhere inside itself, yet the docs say to publicly declare this. It's declared in a different class. So when an activity queries a content provider with a CONTENT_URI, how does Android know which one I want. I see no link between a content provider and its CONTENT_URI declared in another class.
I also don't how to think about intents and content providers. I know that you don't call an intent on a content provider. But an activity queries a content provider without an intent, and an activity has a mimetype attribute in the manifest that would seem to tie it to a content provider.
I have searched but I am not sure what to search for.I want to remove or change the bar at the bottom of my homescreens. The one with the menu button, the phone button and the add widget button.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was planning on flashing a ROM. Basically, I created a partition for Apps2SD and I was unsure if it had created or not. I used Quick System Info, and it said "information unavailable", so I'd assumed it hadn't worked. I think it has worked, as I only have 14.35GB of my 16GB card remaining, and I'm sure I had a lot more than that available, even with the contents I previously had on it. How can I remove the partition to make the SD card "whole again" so I can begin this process again?

View 8 Replies View RelatedWould it be true to say that I can merely root my Desire to remove useless HTC apps and just continue booting the ROM that is originally on my Desire (Sense + Eclair 2.1)? The reason why I ask this is because most of the new Froyo ROMS have some sort of functionality lost one way or another. If I keep my original ROM this would mean everything works as it used to before I rooted right? If so, can I add the functionality of App2SD+ onto my stock ROM? (Without going up unofficial Froyo's)
