HTC Desire :: Holder For GPS Use While Cycling
Jun 4, 2010
I've been looking for a solution for using my Desire for GPS tracking on my mountain bike for a while now and ideally I'd like an armband holder of some sort. Problem is, all the ones I've seen are basically clear cases that advertise the fact you have an expensive phone on your arm. I don't really want a handlebar mount cos my riding gets pretty rough so is there something that isn't either of these that anyone has found?

I am considering buying this car holder from mobilefun:HTC Desire Car Pack..I was just wondering if anyone had this dock and was able to tell me the length of the charging cable when comfortably uncoiled (I understand that it is a coiled cable). My girlfriend's car is a Fiat 500 and the cigarette lighter is quite close to the handbrake compared to other cars and I am trying to work out whether it will be ok.

Does anyone else find themselves having to power cycle their Droid on a daily basis?I'm still in the honeymoon phase so I do LOTS of stuff on it (add/remove apps, play with stuff, change settings, run lots of apps, etc.) which may have something do to with it.I find that if I don't power cycle my phone at least once in a 24 hour period, it starts getting very sluggish.

my Droid is rooted and running bb with the 1.1 gHz LV rom. Whenever I try to boot it up, it takes about 5 - 10 tries. It shows the M, then goes on to my boot animation. About halfway through usually it freezes, turns off, and repeats the process. Eventually it will finally boot up.I have tried using different boot animations. Didn't help. (However one of the boots would never show up, and it would cause the DROID to start pretty quickly).Does anyone know what is causing the cycling?Voltage too low? CPU too high? Bad bootanimation? My own stupidity?

I'm looking for a car holder for my Hero that will plug into my car's lighter socket. Unfortunately windshield suction holders are not allowed in Minnesota.
Does anyone know where to find one or maybe post a link to one?

I'm using a mixture of the "Efficient Adapter" and the EndlessAdapter from CommonsGuy, and sometime the holder in getView() is null.
CODE:.............
I've put the rest of the code for both of my classes here, as it's rather large to paste inline.
Once the whole data set is loaded, scrolling up & down causes rows to disappear and re-appear too.

Is there anyway to make the incredible stop notifications for new email and sms messages without stopping it from ringing? I am a new user and am used to the blackberry setup that would vibrate those notifications in the holder but still allow the phone to ring. I figure there has to be an app for this but can't find it.

Firstly just wanted to say how useful this forum has been in keeping up to date with all the latest goings on for my HTC Hero (well, T-Mobile G2 in my case). Anyway. I'm having some problems with the speaker on my phone, the one you hold to your ear, rather than the one that plays music, loud speaker etc. I think I've found a solution, so wanted to share that with you guys, but also find out if anyone else has had a similar problem.
My phone has started crackling a lot when making calls. Other people can hear me fine, but their voice seems to crackle and fizz if it gets too loud. If I turn the volume up on my phone it gets even worse. At first I thought it was a blown speaker or something, but looking at the sim card holder, it seems to be that that's causing a rattle, it gets vibrated when the sound comes through the speaker. When I tap the back of my phone, gently!, it makes a slight rattling sound. I can eliminate the problem entirely by taking the back off the phone and firmly holding the top of the battery, thus stopping the sim card holder rattling around. However this isn't an ideal solution for everyday use!

Has anyone ran across a simple visor mount/holder that would work for the Motorola Droid? I am not looking for anything elaborate. I would want to reach up and answer the phone and use the phones speaker mode for talking or can be easily removed. Something basically like the bluetooth speakers they have for visors. I am surprised I have not been able to find one.

I'm considering selling my 5/6month old Desire to fund the purchase of a sim free HD.
Hopefully I'd only end up spending around 150-200 for it.
Is the jump up worth it? I'm a sucker for upgrade and I have to say the HD looks nicer than the Desire, but obviously it's what inside that count. Apparently.
One big thing is the whole htcsense.com thing, and with confirmation of the Desire getting support for that still quite unclear and apparently unlikely, I'm leaning towards getting the HD...

I've been having reception issues with Orange and they are sending me a new handset to see if that is the problem. If I drag all the data from the old SD card to my computer and then back over to the new SD card, will that keep all the setting form the HTC backup settings? Or do I have to point it in the right direction.

Sadly I didn't realise how bad Virgin are in my area, so I'll be cancelling my contract with them and moving back to o2...
Unfortunately this means I'll have to return the handset and get a new one from o2...
Does anyone know if there's a way of moving my apps or being able to download them again on the new handset?

I just got an HTC Desire that was locked to Telus (Canadian Carrier). I have read that numerous people are using it on Rogers network. From the day I got it when I put my rogers sim card in (the right way) it said "No SIM card in phone" so I could not enter an unlock code. Thinking the SIM was defective went to Telus and tried one of their sim cards and it worked fine, then I went to Rogers thinking it was a problematic card. We tried 4 cards and none of them worked. I then went to Bell (another canadian carrier) and tried their sim card. It worked as well but said that the phone was locked. I purchased an unlock code from the internet which worked. Now the Bell sim card works as well becuase the phone is unlocked. I put my Rogers SIM back into it and it still sais "No SIM card in phone". I also tried a SIM from a european company and it did not work as well. This HTC Desire works on the same 3G 850/1900 GSM that Rogers uses.

I have used Lambrospowers (XDA Forum) Rosie patch to enable drag n drop when in helicopter (leap) view. It works flawlessly on my rooted stock Froyo Desire. If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.

My friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.

I have posed this question in some threads but as yet have made no progress.I am just curious as to why HTC appear to have left out the Bluetooth Voice Dialler function that can be provided by the Froyo 2.2 O/S. I believe this feature is present and enabled in some of the cooked roms and also in the Nexus one Vanilla 2.2 so why not here?If I have missed somthing simple or if anyone is aware why it is missing or how I can activate it that would be fantastic!

I have a problem with an HTC Desire. I have an emailaddress that does not require authentication for the outgoing mail. I've unchecked the "authentication required" tickbox and saved the settings.
Somehow the phone automatically resets the Authentication setting and there I can't send email.
My question: how can I prevent the Desire from automatically place a checkmark next to "Authentication Required"?

I've been adding, and uninstalling, I've been noticing some installed apps that I don't seem to be able to add to my screens, or use.
I was wondering what these were.
They are: -
Rosie Utility
Teeter
and
Street View (Okay I KNOW what this one is, but how do I add it to Google Earth/Maps)
Also I've noticed that on the pattern lock screen. There is a message that says, "This phone belongs to". How do I personalise this with my name?
