HTC Desire HD :: Android System Monitoring Apps

Nov 14, 2010

In an effort to keep my battery from draining from dodgy apps, yesterday I installed a CPU and battery monitor called "Mini Info". After getting my DHD and going on an app installing rampage my battery life dropped to about 6 hours, and I think it was the monitor!

So I've un-installed I'm looking for some system tools that won't sap my battery life.

Can anyone suggest to me:
Battery Monitor
CPU monitor (that displays what processes are killing my CPU)
Task killer (using ATK)
A widget I can use to easily turn bluetooth/wireless/GPS etc that includes 3G as well...

Also... someone mentioned before an app that changes your settings based on your location (looks at location with GPS). Can anyone tell me what this is called and if it saves more battery than it uses?

HTC Desire : Carrier-Installed Apps - Find The System/apps Folder

Sep 23, 2010

I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.

My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.

I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.

Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.

HTC Desire :: Uninstall System Apps Using ADB Without Root

Jun 26, 2010

To those who have rooted their Desire, this may sound a bit odd, but just humour me, rooting my phone, mainly because Im very paranoid about getting it wrong, and also it seems like a hell of a lot of fiddling for little gain. The only benefit I really want from rooting is to remove the dumbass demo apps Telstra installed. Is is possible to remove those apps on an un-rooted Desire? Would I be correct in saying that ADB could do it?

HTC Desire :: How To Easily Remove Installed System Apps?

Aug 25, 2010

I was frantically trying to remove a system installed app yesterday, but google wasnt much help. I found many threads on various forums, all slightly different and all assuming you have a certain level of knowledge about certain things. There was no easy, step by step guide. So I decided to post my guide up here for anyone who like me, wants to uninstall system apps but hasn't the foggiest. This is for if you have the ROM already installed and don't want to do a wipe/re-install. for ROMs you are about to install, just open the zip, browse to systemapp and delete the .apk prior to installation.Enjoy your bloatware free ROM. It goes without saying that you shouldn't remove anything you don't recognise and that if you do, you risk doing harm to your phone. I can take no responsibility for damage caused.

Android :: Best Battery Monitoring App?

Sep 30, 2010

in reading thru the forums i notice that most users, when discussing their battery, are using some monitor which reveals percentage of battery juice remaining. i find the stock monitor in the status bar to be insufficient. what apps are you guys using that give you the best reflection of battery %/time remaining, indicate what's been using the battery, and most importantly do not eat up battery like a hog and make it not worth using?

Android :: Detecting If System Apps Are Running

Oct 11, 2010

We are trying to automate our QA process. We make wallpaper apps for Android. Once an app is installed, is there a way to figure out if the application is running since these have apps don't have a main class which we can check by doing a ps on android shell. I think keyboard/language apps would face a similar issue

For eg. If I install tetris and run it. Its main package will show up in shell ps. xyz.abc.Tetris. But the same is not true system apps in android.

At any rate, I'm really looking for some insight into this and advanced editing such as this. Someone knows how to, care to share?

For a Computer Science Information Warfare class a few years ago I wrote a python script that ran on libpcap promiscuous packet capture files to parse out facebook chat traffic (earlang tuples passed in clear text), and thought an interesting project would be to port the program to Android.

I would like to rewrite it in Java but can't find any information about packet capturing directly on the handset.

Android :: G1 System UIDs Inconsistent - None Of The Apps Work

Jul 2, 2009

About two days ago my phone started receiving and making all calls as 'unknown'. I decided to wait to go straight to a T-mobile retail store. But today July 2 at 10 am. none of the apps where working, the browser, text messages, none. the phone became crazy I started to receive error messages on the screen. Finally decided to restart the phone, when it turned on again i received the message" g1 system UIDs inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or you device will be unstable." it had the I'm feeling lucky button, when pressed, the phone reset itself, most of my apps where gone, but it did not help or fixed anything. Im desperate I love my G1 phone i bought it the next day of the release, it worked great, got my 1.5 update worked fine, 'till now. the problem is where to go for help. If it is an OS problem is it google's fault or T-mobile? I have a flex pay account when i bought the phone. I bought it full price almost $ 500 so to get a new G1 since i am a student i cant afford it. I feel very sad not being able to use it or fix the problem now all my data is gone all my apps, :( i cant even go on the market app to donwload them because i receive the error message of force close.

HTC Incredible :: CPU Monitoring And SystemPanel

Sep 12, 2010

I have systempanel installed. Where it shows your current CPU Clock speed, mine is ranging anywhere from 600 - 900MHz at any given time. Is this normal? My phone sleeps just fine, but does this mean that when my phone is awake at any given time, my CPU is still being pushed that hard? I hope someone can clarify this for me, and maybe post what theirs is too.

General :: Monitoring / Configuring Phone

Apr 17, 2013

So after having my phone for nearly a year (Razr Maxx) I'm starting to have extremely poor battery life. For example, this morning I left my house at 7:00 at 100%. Spent maybe 20 minutes looking at stuff on my phone, browsing a couple of webpages. Then spent about 20 minutes reading a book and listening to music. Now at 9:00am I'm at 70%.

I suspect that there is something that isn't working right on my phone... that I have some program (possibly malware) that is chewing up data or processor time or something. Any utility that will monitor what's going on and is able to report what programs are accessing data and processor power.

Does anyone notice that 'Android System' battery usage is very high?

I ran a test where i displayed just a photo

Battery Indicator
3G Watchdog
Photos
Advanced Task Killer Free

within 20 minutes the results on the battery are the following:

Android System: 63%
Display: 24%
Cell standby 13%

Any thoughts on to what might be causing Android System to be so high, only them programs are running. Does this happen to your system? I notice with web browsing its about the same usage as well, with wifi and internet taking up small amounts.

I am currently on xtrROM 4.6 and used Titanium to restore my apps.
