Mar 24, 2013That's basically the problem. My Visual Land Prestige 10 Android 4.0 10" Tablet i got from WalMart readily connects to all kinds of public wi-fi networks with no problems. BUT it will not connect to my home wi-fi network, which is from Cox Cable via a Linksys router.
I have several other devices, including a Palm Tablet, a Galaxy S3, and an Asus laptop, and all of these connect to my home wi-fi with no problem.
So why does my tablet not do so? It recognizes the existence of the wi-fi network, but never connects. It just says "saved", and that's it.

Jul 27, 2010I've never used the wifi hotspot feature on my EVO, but it seems pretty simple as to how it works... What I'm wondering is if it functions like a typical wireless router. Specifically, does it create a LAN network between connects peers? I'm wondering if it would be at all possible to do something like play (low bandwith) multiplayer LAN games over the EVO's wifi hotspot?

Sep 21, 2010My school has an open wifi network. When you first use a device on the network, it presents an authentication page so that you can get full access. I authenticated, and my Vibrant connects fine and is assigned an IP. I checked with the network admin, and my MAC address is registered correctly in their system.
But I can't get any data. Sometimes if I disconnect and reconnect I can load one or two pages, but then data stops.
Other Android users (Nexus One, Droid X) don't seem to have this problem. I'm trying to get the network pro to come and help me out with this, but it seems to be a problem with my phone. Yet my wifi connection at home works fine.
General :: Changed Charging Port Now (No Mobile Network)
Jan 4, 2013My phone stopped charging consistently so I installed a new OEM charging port. The phone charges great now however it took a long time to charge. Now I get a message that says that there is no mobile network available. I have double checked that the antenna is attached and all else was a pretty straight forward swap.

Apr 17, 2013So after having my phone for nearly a year (Razr Maxx) I'm starting to have extremely poor battery life. For example, this morning I left my house at 7:00 at 100%. Spent maybe 20 minutes looking at stuff on my phone, browsing a couple of webpages. Then spent about 20 minutes reading a book and listening to music. Now at 9:00am I'm at 70%.
I suspect that there is something that isn't working right on my phone... that I have some program (possibly malware) that is chewing up data or processor time or something. Any utility that will monitor what's going on and is able to report what programs are accessing data and processor power.

Mar 3, 2014I use Pandora for "radio" and Shuttle to listen to MP3s that I've copied/downloaded to my phone.
Problem is that when I get in my car and connect via Bluetooth, Shuttle starts up most of the time, even if I was listening to Pandora previously (e.g., listening to Pandora, park, run an errand, get back in car and Shuttle starts up when I start the car).
Today, I even had the situation where Pandora started up, played for a second or two, then Shuttle started up and "drowned it out".
General :: Droid Incredible 2 - WiFi Connects But NO Service?
Jun 15, 2012I am able to access the WiFi server with my DI2, but I cannot get any service. This has been happening for several weeks. My wife has the same issue with her iPhone.
For example, on my Facebook App, when I try to load the app, I get an error that says Connection Lost. When I go to Play Store to download apps, it tells me there is no connection. You get the point.
Note that on occasion, I am able to load the internet and get Google, but when I do a search, back to the error messages.
It also happens at home when we connect to our wireless network. Sometimes it works, but lately it's been unable to load.

This is quite odd. My mobile data (4G LTE) symbol in the header area used to dim (like when you disable mobile) when my Wifi kicked in and it does not anymore.
So it always appears that both 4G and Wifi are active at the same time. Only after watching which up/down arrows are flickering do I know which is working.
And on some occasions, the arrows on both flicker. I am not 100% sure, but I think this started after I turned on the Ultra Power Savings mode.

Sep 30, 2010in reading thru the forums i notice that most users, when discussing their battery, are using some monitor which reveals percentage of battery juice remaining. i find the stock monitor in the status bar to be insufficient. what apps are you guys using that give you the best reflection of battery %/time remaining, indicate what's been using the battery, and most importantly do not eat up battery like a hog and make it not worth using?

Sep 12, 2010I have systempanel installed. Where it shows your current CPU Clock speed, mine is ranging anywhere from 600 - 900MHz at any given time. Is this normal? My phone sleeps just fine, but does this mean that when my phone is awake at any given time, my CPU is still being pushed that hard? I hope someone can clarify this for me, and maybe post what theirs is too.

Nov 14, 2010In an effort to keep my battery from draining from dodgy apps, yesterday I installed a CPU and battery monitor called "Mini Info". After getting my DHD and going on an app installing rampage my battery life dropped to about 6 hours, and I think it was the monitor!
So I've un-installed I'm looking for some system tools that won't sap my battery life.
Can anyone suggest to me:
Battery Monitor
CPU monitor (that displays what processes are killing my CPU)
Task killer (using ATK)
A widget I can use to easily turn bluetooth/wireless/GPS etc that includes 3G as well...
Also... someone mentioned before an app that changes your settings based on your location (looks at location with GPS). Can anyone tell me what this is called and if it saves more battery than it uses?

Jun 22, 2010With all of the questions and threads regarding battery usage, life and monitoring, I thought this might be a good time to share my thoughts of what has helped me *deal* with this issue.
I want to preface this by saying that:
-Yes, the stock battery supplied with our phones is probably inadequate.
-Yes, having to buy a better battery after purchasing a "Tier One Phone" sucks.
-Yes, usage is subjective and dynamic and one persons heavy usage is another persons light usage.
-No, this will not address extremely short battery life (other problems are causing that)
-No, this will not account for the phone seemingly giving a false 100% indication.
-No, this will not help anything but your psyche
That said, I think we (myself included and maybe the most guilty) are putting too much emphasis on what our battery widgets and indicators are telling us. The blessing/curse of our phones is that they report battery life in 1% increments which is great for keeping accurate battery life information, but its not great for our sanity. Think about that logically for a moment!
Here is my experiment for anyone who obsesses over battery life but can make it through a day with no worries of their battery dying!
1) Next time you fully charge your battery, after you remove it from the charger, keep an eye on the widget as it drops down to between 95% - 90% and then take notice of your default battery indicator. It will still look fully charged! Do this for a day or two if you want!
2) When you are satisfied that what I'm telling you is reality, uninstall your battery monitoring widget or app and just go about your day as usual for about a week.
I am willing to bet that those of you like me, who actually have respectable battery life but still obsess over it, will not go back to what I call "percentile battery monitoring". Of course their will be exceptions as some people just need that number, but I really believe this may help some people get over their battery monitoring obsession!

Aug 23, 2010i bought the full version of systempanel last night, because i installed setcpu and tasker over the weekend and started overclocking - i wanted to try the monitoring service and try to see if there was a drastic effect on my battery... well, the battery DEFINITELY seems to be draining faster than it did yesterday, and the phone seemed to be very choppy when switching between home screens. i disabled monitoring and it seems to be more responsive again.

Plug a USB wireless adapter into the PC, Run a virtual machine with the virtual network adapter pointed to the USB wireless adapter. I run wireless tether on the EVO and boom my PC stays in tact on the corporate network, so email and other network activity works and appears normal and is routed thru the corp LAN, but when I want to browse the web I jump in my VM which is routed thru my EVO.

I would like to rewrite it in Java but can't find any information about packet capturing directly on the handset.

Apr 19, 2010I just got my Desire last week, upgrade on Vodafone from a Samsung Omnia, and this one is by far THE best one ever. PRO: with 1Ghz cpu it runs like the wind apps:lots of them and till now haven't had any problem with any game or app, one of my favorites is AndFTP...use it to conect to my computer via wifi to get all that i need GPS: i can't belive how fast it conects it self to satelites, i haven't tested it on a cloudy day, cause it been all sunshine these days. the time it took to conect was les then 10 sec out side, and less then 30sec-1 min indoor near a window. with my previous phones N95-8G and Omnia, if it was sunny...2-3 min, cloudy-more the 5min...sometimes 10min, and indoor by the window...never...got sick of waiting more than 10-15 min. display...it's big enough network conection....never fails...full signal anyware, unlike my wifes sam jet on "3" network witch kind of suck, outside signal quite good, but indoors....is more or leass with no signal came preinstalled with a sandisk 4g microsd card very thin-for what it has inside....
-can't install apps on sdcard (why is that???is that how all andoird OS are? do i have to root it, and if so is it possible to root the desire?) low memory on the phone to install apps and games...it practicly asks for rooting wheres all the memory???...on gsmarena and other sites...at the desires specs the Internal memory si 576 MB RAM; 512 MB ROM, and i use smart monitor lite and at system my it says my memory is 398.34, and at storage (/systems+/cache+/data adds to 250+40+147=437)...can't properly close and app -no DIVX...come one...why???..
