HTC Desire :: Getting Album Art To Show On Your Device

Jul 11, 2010

I'm writing this for the HTC Desire, but it should work for all other models and most likely all other Android phones. The process was identical for my old Sony Ericsson C905 and my girlfriends SE W580i.

The problem is the phone is looking for the album art within the track itself. So, we need to embed it, because having a .jpg file in the folder will not do. The phone does not look for the album art there, so it's not going to find it!

1. First you need to download a freeware program called mp3tag. Install it and run the program.

You may donate to mp3tag if you like the software. I've been using it for quite some time and I gave them $20. Not much, but I hope it helped them

2. Secondly, drag and drop all the music that does not have album art stored within the file. Highlight a number of tracks, best to do this an album at a time. Now you can either right click in the empty album art box like the image below and find the album art on your computer.

HTC Incredible : Way To Show Up Album Art?

May 4, 2010

So I have all my music in AAC (m4a) format on my phone with "AlbumArt.jpg" in every folder. I also tried using MP3Tag on a couple, but they still don't show up. (Actually there are *two* albums that have art, and I have no idea what is different about them) I even downloaded Album Art Grabber, but when I boot it, it is just a black screen. If I move my files on to an SD card everything works fine, but I don't have an SD card big enough for all my music. Any ideas?

General :: Why Won't Music Players Show Original Album Art

Aug 14, 2012

Isntead, they either download from the internet, or they show the crappy scaled down version created by android! why! what's the problem! music players on iOS don't have this prolem! is my quad-core smartphone incapable of displaying a jpeg image!? Is there a way to change the compression level or something? I don't want to manually swap out every single thumbnail!

the only player that seems to do this is the Neutron music player (yea, I tried almsot every single android music player, almsot 50 of them). But Neutron MP has that crappy 2006 style theme! it's the year 2012! it looks so lame!

HTC Droid Eris :: Stock Music Player Not Show Album Art

Feb 24, 2010

I am using windows 7 so the htc sync does not work. I know that there is a workaround for this but I am able to connect Eris through usb and then tap on mount SD card and then drag and drop music files from my pc to my Eris. The problem is that the Eris music app does not show any of the album art. The art is in the files so I don't know why it won't show. I created a folder called music and in that folder is a folder for each artist which contains folders for each album. The art is in each album folder. I tried Mixzing media player for a while and some of the album art appeared but maybe only 25%. I like the stock app if it would just show the album art.

I accidentally deleted a whole photo album on my note 2. I have a program that will un-delete the photos however the Note 2 does not show up in windows 7 as a specific drive, only a media player or camera. Is there any possible way to un-delete these photos with any known software. I was able to do this before without an issue with CardRecovery 6.0 but now it will not detect the Note 2 since it is not showing as a drive.

Motorola Droid :: Song Limit On Device - Album Missing On Sync?

Mar 26, 2010

Okay, I know 5000 songs is a lot. It's not as much as the song count for anyone I know, but it's a lot nonetheless. However, it's still less than an iPod from 5 years ago could handle, so why is it too much for the Droid? Every time I try "syncing" my library (read: Copying over the music folder, because the Droid doesn't have a syncing app and DoubleTwist is outright broken in its sync method) I end up missing like half of it. Usually it takes me a smidgen of time to realize an album is missing, but immediately afterwards I notice a LOT of albums are missing.

I try renaming the artist name folder, and the Droid them makes some attempt to locate the new music. First it gives me the spinning "loading" icon in the upper-right of my albums list view, and then it "resets" the view to the main four icons (Artists, Albums, Songs, Playlists). However, it still doesn't load the new material. I'm assuming at this point that the Droid has an outright song limit that hovers around 3,000. Either that or the "compilations" folder is killing its library search function.

Anyone know if this got fixed in 2.1? At least then I'd have something to look forward to. An alternate music player with cover art support would be fine, too. I don't mind paying extra if it's well-made.

Randomly stopping mid-track on HE-AAC files is also incredibly annoying.

This forum and the community has supplied my answers for Missing Album art, I use 'Album Art Grabber' from Market which is good (except compilations find the artist covers instead, but SD card loading is fine bypass) My problem is that my music, once moved to my HTC Desire phone splits into one track per Album (with Cover art =). So a 34 track album, aok in iTunes now lists as 34 Albums with 1 track each.In iTunes its fine. I use DoubleTwist (another fantastic application) to move the music over.Any body else bumped into this problem?

HTC Desire :: Private Photo Album

Jul 1, 2010

Is it possible to create an album which is password protected? To which photos go automatically instead of to the 'all photos bit'?I'm sure that's impossible.. you'd have to have some setting in the camera that selected which folder it went into.but is it possible to have a password protected folder in the photo gallery to which you can easily move (how?) pictures from the normal camera folder?I'm sure you can think of uses for such a feature - in my case it's for photos to measure my fitness/muscleness (I ignore scales) - and I have friends who happily browse my phone (I don't mind except for this - I have to remember to upload the pictures then delete them). (They all know the swipe password thing, because it's pretty easy to accidentally watch/memorise.)

HTC Desire :: Album Art Not Working / Linked To Database?

May 14, 2010

I'm having a problem with the music app on the desire. Basically I've got about 2 hundred albums on there, all mp3 with artwork (jpg) embedded. Basically there are 6 albums where the artwork does not show up, it just displays the generic music note symbol, the rest of my music all displays the artwork no problem. After much experimenting, it turns out that if I change the name of one of the problem albums (to anything - I just added an extra character to the end of the name) then the artwork is displayed. But then if I change the album name back again, the artwork is not displayed. Wierd! I'm assuming that there is some sort of internal database on the phone that has got an incorrect or corrupt entry for those album names, but I just can't clear it. I have tried deleting the 'album thumbs' directory but this did not have any effect. Can anyone think of a way to clear the problem, without doing a factory reset, as I don't want to have to re-set up my apps etc.

HTC Desire :: Stop Album Art From Being Visible In Photo App

Apr 16, 2010

I just got an HTC desire and I am on my 6th day of playing with it. At first I thought it was a big step up from my previous phone (that had real buttons...and lots of them) however after I started copying my music to the tiny 4Gb SD card I realised that my photos app was showing all the album art work. This was actually quite annoying and it has taken me some hours to find a solution. If anyone is having the same problem they will realise how annoying this is, so I have documented below how to solve it.The problem seems to come from two sources:

1. The Desire (and I guess other android devices) scan the entire SD card for media. Sure enough the scan would return some jpg images located in my MP3 folder (the album art work). Android seems to be limited here and you cannot create an exclsuion folder that doesnt effect both the music app and the photo app (so, this rules out the .nomedia folder)

2. Tagging the MP3's correctly using ID3 tags should appearntly solve this problem. Although you have to be careful here as I have found that not all media players tag the MP3's in the same way. Windows Media player and Tag Runner both tag the MP3 so it appears correct (no separate jpg image is created) however, they still appear in the photo's app.

The only application I have found that works is mediamonkey. Tagging all my MP3's using media monkey stops the album art work appearing in the photo's app which has made my trowling through for my pictures much more graceful.

HTC Desire :: Music Player - Album Art - Black Background

Apr 12, 2010

I'm loving the HTC Desire, but there's a problem for me regarding the music player - half of my albums are just a black background with a note. It's really annoying, as half of the albums have their true cover. I can't find anything on Google about how to get the other albums working. I have tried renaming the album covers to all sorts of stuff and nothing seems to work. I tried searching album art on the market but the only thing that returned was a paid app, and I'm not willing to pay ?3 for something that I should be able to do for free.

HTC Desire :: Playing Tracks In Album Track Order

Jul 17, 2010

I have now got Genres working in the Music player on my Desire but have hit a new problem. Track Order.

All the tracks in the folders on my SD card have track numbers, copied from the PC folders. This means that when I play an album on my PC it plays in the track order; essential for symphonies!

However in the Desire Music player tracks are sorted alphabetically; Astro shows me that the track numbers are there as part of the file name. I do not wish to created over 100 playlists.

Is there a way to get the Music player to sort tracks by track order?
