HTC Hero : "Invalid Device" / Bluetooth 2.1 Annoyance

Aug 1, 2010

Been waiting a long time, along with the rest of you guys for 2.1 update. One of the things for me was so i could send files via bluetooth to transfer my phonebook to my cars pioneer satnav/bluetooth handsfree kit, which couldn't be done with andriod 1.5. Just tried to connect and pair with my cars bluetooth but now the pioneer bluetooth just instantly dissconnects and comes up with "invalid device". So now i dont just have a phonebook missing from my handsfree bluetooth, but now no handsfree either. How frustrating is that! No matter what i do, i get the same outcome "invalid device"

Android :: DDMS Doesn't Show Process List On Device

Oct 15, 2009

I have two phones, one running 1.5 and the other on 1.6. When I connect the 1.6 device via usb, DDMS recognizes it and in the top-left pane shows: HT842....... | Online | 1.6, debug

It then lists the individual processes, I can select them and use various tools like allocation tracker.

But when I connect the 1.5 device, DDMS recognizes it but shows: HT95A....... | Online | 1.5

But it does not show any of the processes on the device, so I am not able to do use allocation tracker and such. The sysinfo tab works, and I can monitor logcat with filter and such in the bottom pane.

What am I missing here? Obviously the 1.5 device has USB debugging enabled. Why does it not show 'debug' in DDMS? I'm using SDK 1.5_r2 on linux (Ubuntu 9.04), if that makes a difference.

HTC Desire :: Getting Album Art To Show On Your Device

Jul 11, 2010

I'm writing this for the HTC Desire, but it should work for all other models and most likely all other Android phones. The process was identical for my old Sony Ericsson C905 and my girlfriends SE W580i.

The problem is the phone is looking for the album art within the track itself. So, we need to embed it, because having a .jpg file in the folder will not do. The phone does not look for the album art there, so it's not going to find it!

1. First you need to download a freeware program called mp3tag. Install it and run the program.

You may donate to mp3tag if you like the software. I've been using it for quite some time and I gave them $20. Not much, but I hope it helped them

2. Secondly, drag and drop all the music that does not have album art stored within the file. Highlight a number of tracks, best to do this an album at a time. Now you can either right click in the empty album art box like the image below and find the album art on your computer.

Android :: Invalid Reference During Callback?

Jul 29, 2010

I have an object that is used for calling callback functions ----- static jobject o;

I have assigned the callback function to that object through a pointer, env -----

o=env->NewGlobalRef(callback);

The same pointer, env, points towards the function CallVoidMethod( ) that uses JNI to reach to the java code.

env->CallVoidMethod(o, methodId, pDeviceId, deviceStatus, statusReason, connectionProgressInfo);

However on calling this function, the system is getting crashed, and VM says that it's an invalid reference to static jobject o and then it crashes.

My code is as follows :

Android :: Invalid Username And Password When Trying To Unlock G2

Oct 14, 2009

I know this is not really the place to post this message, but this is the closest thing I could find to google android support. So a friend of mine did too many wrong patterns and the phone is asking for my username and password. When i fill in my login and password, it says "invalid username or password". I tried it like 20 times.I have of course verified the username and password on my gmail, and it works fine. Has this ever happened to anyone ? Is there a way around it ? I refuse to reset my phone to factory settings, i have all my contacts, and important notes in there.I was really looking forward to android, but stuff like this is just unacceptable, really disappointing.

Android :: How To LABEL An Invalid Column For Contact Method?

I am having a bear of a time figuring out what colums exist for email contact methods. Specifically, I want to find out the "home", "work" or "other" of an email address. I have tried looking for it under integer "TYPE" (illegal column), and under Strings "LABEL" (illegal column) and "NAME" (this works, but it is the owner/person's name, not the name of the email address). Is there a place where these schemas (as they are actually used) is documented well? the Javadocs seem to mislead me................

Android :: SAXParser Invalid Token Exception And Attribute Value

Jan 1, 2010

I am using SAXParser to parse an html page (any better solution?) and have this exception:
W/System.err( 1358): org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser $ParseException: At line 1, column 59: not well-formed (invalid token)
I have reduced the page to this:
<div id="submenu"><a href="/compte/console.pl? id=382730&idt=1cf6b94aa1a4cf84"></a></div>
And what causes the exception is the '&' inside the href attribute value.

Here is a minimalist test code:
DefaultHandler emptySaxHandler = new DefaultHandler() {};
String xmlstr = "<div id="submenu"><a href="/compte/console.pl?id=382730&idt=1cf6b94aa1a4cf84"></a></div>";
SAXParserFactory factory = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
SAXParser saxParser = factory.newSAXParser();
saxParser.parse(new ByteArrayInputStream(xmlstr.getBytes ()),emptySaxHandler);

Is this a normal behaviour or kind of bug? If normal, what should do to preprocess the string before parsing?

Android :: WiFi Network - Password Invalid After Disconnected

Apr 20, 2010

I have a WiFi network at work and it requires a New password generated from a secure token each time when I try to re-connect. Since Android WiFi setting remembers the password, if it try to re-connect using the saved password (it becomes invalid after disconnected), my secure token become invalid. If I remember to remove the connection each time after I disconnect, I can enter new password when the connection is discovered as a new connection again. The problem is what if I forget. In addition it is inconvenient. Do you know any Android application supports remove a chosen WiFi connection password each time the connection is lost?

Android :: 1.6 Invalid View Object Passed To OnListItemClick()?

Dec 14, 2009

This subject originates here: http://groups.google.com/group/android-beginners/browse_thread/thread...

To sum up:

When I click on an item in the ListView, the background color that gets changed is not that of the clicked item but instead of the other item in the opposite side relative to the middle item:

1 <-- I click here 2 3 <-- Acts as a mirror 4 5 <-- This is the one that gets changed

1 2 <-- This is the one that gets changed 3 <-- Acts as a mirror 4 <-- I click here 5

This problem persists even when I use CheckedTextView like what is suggested in the post.

I use the latest stable SDK.

This problem occurs when the target platform is Android 1.6, 2.0 or 2.0.1.

The problem does not occur when the target platform is Android 1.1 or 1.5.

However, the problem will also occur when the program is compiled for 1.5 and run in 2.0.1.

The simple problematic code can be found here: [url]

There I also put the screenshots showing the problem: demo01.png: I click an item. demo02.png: the clicked item doesn't get changed but the reflective item does.

Is this a bug in newer Android platforms?

If it is intended, what is the reason and could you please show me how I should fix my code?

last line gives the following on the Samsung Galaxy phone: 11-14 19:04:07.507: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7617): java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid audio buffer size.
