HTC Desire :: Clockwork Restore Hangs At Boot
Oct 24, 2010
Android Version: 2.2 [Optional]Are You rooted & which Rom: Rooted and flashed to "[ROM] Official 2.2 (HTC 2.09 and 2.10): busybox, A2SD+, TUN, EXT4, Undervolt, SYSRW"
Issue: I've flashed to another ROM and now want to restore my back-up that I made via Clockworkmod. The restore seems to do fine, but when I reboot my phone hangs at the boot screen.
In the meanwhile I have flashed the recovery from clockwork to AmonRa. To restore the clockwork back-up, I boot into clockwork recovery via ROM Manager. Maybe I should reflash to clockwork, but that didn't work till now.

I did restore from lastest nandroid backup and now the galaxy won't turn on. it stuck in the logo screen (android) all the time - like in loops.
Is there any connection to the fact that I did ODIN to II5 before and the backup is from older build?

I am trying to port a kernel from one zte 8960 to another. I have cwm recover set up with kexec to get a log of what is going on. the kernel hangs at boot of the phone so I trying to find the cause
-last_kmsg after a failed boot of 3.4
pastebin.com/0AGpACsT
-last_kmsg after a boot of 3.0.8
pastebin.com/N3WtDHwC
-split-boot of boot.img
Code:
output directory: fi
boot_magic correct: ANDROID!
kernel size: 6045264
kernel address: 2149613568
Base: 2149580800 (hex): 0x80200000
[code]....
I am thinking it might had hit "un-allocated" memory area, I did have to change the ramdisk_offset from 0x01300000 to 0x02000000 make the kernel fit. what could I do to check to see if it is un-allocated space I am dealing with

Samsung Galaxy 7.0 plus (gt-p6210) will not boot. It hangs at the Samsung banner. The banner is still glowing but it goes nowhere.
I have tried everything.
a. Delete cache (dalvik and otherwise)
b. System wipe.
c. Removed add on sim and repeated above.
I have a rooted ICS (original install via Kies).

I downloaded one of chevys kernel an I was going to install this kernel hoping for better battery life. Before I did, I tried booting into recovery and all I got was the M symbol. I then tried flashing alternate recovery(sprecovery) and then went to boot into recovery an that still didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know if its related to that download of the kernel or what. But this is very frustrating knowing I don't have recovery.

I KNOW my phones rooted, ive applied the update and ive been doing root things for quite awhile. However, when I go into rom manager, download a rom, and install it, it brings me to the normal recovery menu, the blue one with only 4 options. I reapplied the update.zip and still nothing. When I try to reflash the clockwork it says... An error occured when attempting to run priveleged permissions

Hello, I recently got a HTC Desire and I've experienced that it often hangs up on the person I'm talking to because my ear touches some button on the display. I've tried turning on the screen lock, and that works sometimes but not always, so I would like to find a permanent solution.

im not sure why or what ive done but when i try and shut the phone down it just hangs at the "shutting down" screen for hours. it went 4 hours lastnight without shutting off. the only way to get it to stop is to pull the batt or it sometimes works to plug it into the computer with the usb cable. ive also noticed that mixzing wont read the sd card, keeps saying memory card is unavailible. could it be the same thing in both cases? the memory card is having issues? ive only had the phone for 2 weeks. i can save to and read from the card when mounted as a disc drive and i can shoot and save pics and videos as well as double twist reading from the card just fine. is there something im missing? this is driving me nuts im on telus, android 2.1, not rooted or modified in any way.

When phone locked and somebody calls, i drag down to pick up: in this very moment phones shows like it would follow the procedure and pick up, but it hangs like inbetween for 4-5 seconds and THEN picks up. Meanwhile i can press Menu, Home, etc, nothing happens.. Sometime don't have that luck and the call drops. Most of the time i'm lucky and can pickup.

I tried flashing back to an older rom I used before, but this time it said there was an error and wouldn't work. I tryed doing a restore and that didnt work either. Now when i try to reboot, it just gets stuck on the 3 skateboarders. And when i try to go into recovery it just shows the triangle with an exclamation point, instead of the old menu I used to have. Is it fixable or did I brick it?

I own an LG Optimus L9 from T-Mobile. A few months ago, I rooted it and installed the Jarvis boot animation, complete with a Jarvis start up sound.
I started having issues with my phone, so I performed a factory reset. However, the boot animation is still the Jarvis one. I need to send the device in for a repair, and I need it back to the original boot animation (one where there was white and pink squares that did a wave animation, along with the T-Mobile jingle.)

I was hoping to automatically backup new sms when recieved, and then when booting - restore any missing sms..? then it would appear seamless when switching between two roms no sms missing

I'm trying to boot up the galaxohero rom,I indeed successfully restore the gapps before, but now, it didn't work anymore. I'm using the recovery 4.2 image and i'm sure i have done everything as the how to odin guide said, but it still couldn't restore the g.apps, the restore was aborted after a few sec. I have even formatted the storage card and start again. For my successful attempt, i use the old methods with a g.apps directory, but now I'm using II5.tar to restore, and it didn't work anymore.

I think I know the answer to this, but want to check as I'm new to rooting. Bear with me. So I have a nandroid backup of the Sense ROM I was using up until recently. I've wiped and installed a Cyanogen ROM to check out Android without Sense - can I then just restore the old back over the Cyanogen ROM and get back t how I was, or do I need to re-flash the other sense-based ROM I was using first? Second question - if I want to move between different ROMs without losing my contacts, SMS etc, should I just flash it without doing the wipe first? What if I have to wipe - then I need some other kind of app-based backup to restore?

Best way(s) to backup and restore your HTC Desire? I am hoping people have better suggestions than my experience..I have just factory rest my HTC Desire to get around the googlemail to gmail switch. This required a factory reset of the device. Now the HTC backs up some settings but as it turns out not much. These are what I notice it misses:any saved scene settings any added wallpaper any apps any email or other account settings I already had the backup feature enabled (home>menu>settings>privicy>backup...) I used ASTRO to backup the apps to the SD.

Does anyone if i can backup my desire and restore to a different desire?
Because I did a faulty exchange on my one, and there was no way i could find to restore, so i ended up manually putting all my apps(which i know cant be backup) and set everything else the way i like it.
I just does understand why there couldnt be a simpler way. nokias, samsung, even iphone can do it, why not htc.
Now it seems i might have to do another exchange, because the volume button seems loose, i cant remember my old one being like that.

What is the best way for restoring apps after a ROM install. Currently I am using Defrost but it updates that often I try to keep up. I have got into the practice of making a backup using ROM manager then doing a full cache and data wipe before installing the new ROM.
I have been letting the phone do its own thing and eventually the apps seem to restore themselves eventually, but is there a quicker way to restore them after a full wipe.

I broke my HTC Desire so did what I thought was a backup to the SD card and sent it away to be fixed. Apparently they couldn't fix it and sent me another one. When I turned the new phone on (after having inserted the SD card) it asked me if I wanted to do system update, I presume this was to 2.2. I said yes. Now I have lost all my contact data (and diary but contact data more important!). If I connect my HTC desire to the PC I can see quite clearly the backup file I made before I sent the HTC desire off to be repaired. Questions is a) does it have my contacts in and b) how on EARTH do I put the contacts back into the HTC desire (sorry if I haven't phrased that very well).

Is there someone that could answer a few question about estrongs file explorer.
1) When an app is restored/backed up using estrongs does it also restore/backup all of the user settings for the said app?
2) After a factory reset or firmware update can you restore all apps and settings that have been backed up?
3) Can you select more than one app at a time to backup/restore.
4) Do the backed up apps that where originaly installed from the market still show up in the market as installed after a restore?
5) Can estrongs backup/restore app and phone settings such as gmail & email accounts, cantacts, calendars, phone settings, etc?
