View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three email accounts set up on my phone, one gmail and two hotmail accounts. Today, for some reason, my phone shows one of the hotmail accounts with a new email that was actually received by the other hotmail account.I am unable to open this message and when I try to delete it, the email app force closes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to change the email address the phone is set up to. But I have a niggling suspicion doing so requires a factory reset. First things first, please tell me if that's wrong and I'll be happy. If however I'm right, What's the best way to go about saving everything? If I download a backup program, will it store all my settings, apps etc or just data on the SD card? And will changing the email address bugger something up and stop me from restoring the backup? I wouldn't put it past google.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've set up an email account on my mini pro (NOT gmail or exchange) and it all works fine updating my inbox manually , however, I cant find any settings to automatically retrieve my emails periodically ( as far I can see auto sync refers to gmail or sony sync or road sync for exchange). Is there any way to auto sync an individual email account ?
View 1 Replies View Relatedjust got my desire this morning and i don't really know what i'm doing with it, i've never had a smart phone before. i've set up my hotmail account as the email account on the phone but, call me paranoid, i'd rather not have it on there at all. if i delete the account on the phone will it have any detremental effect on the actual email account?
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got a new HTC Desire. Loving it and having a tinker but I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to. I have set up the gmail app(when I first got the phone) and I have a couple of issues with it. Namely not sending mails with attachments until you actually go to the sent folder and refresh. But anyway, I digress...I want to use K9 as my default, but even when I have NO email apps running and the Desire does a data sync and sees I have a new email, it chooses to tell me this through the gmail app. How can I set the Desire to tell me this through K9 ? I see under settings>applications>manage applications, that each of the mail programes has a section called "Launch by default" and a button to clear defaults, but this section is greyed out for me on all 3 of my mail apps (gmail, mail and K9)
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf i can do the following with regards to the email accounts on my desire:
1) have the exchange email client update the folders i've got setup (i have rules on my work account sending items to various folders depending on subject/sender etc and they don't seem to update automatically.
2) using the gmail app it doesn't seem to update automatically (or even on a schedule as i cant find one for it).
I have 2 email ac's Tesco & Wanadoo (Orange). I can receive fine but I can't send, keep getting server errors on both ac's all the time. For the outgoing settings do I use the Tosca & Wanadoo (i.e smtp.tesco.net) or do I use my mobile network provider settings?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems setting up my Gmail account with the HTC push email widget. I did enter my Gmail account details when I first set up the phone and they were accepted. I'll walk you through what I do.
1. Go to home screen with large Mail widget then click on it.
2. Click 'Other (POP3/IMAP)'
3. I then enter my email address and password. They are definitely correct. Then I press 'Next'.
4. I then arrive at the 'Incoming Settings' page.
5. I choose IMAP.
6. My email address is already there. My username is there, albeit with 'googlemail' following it (I have tried deleting that - still didn't work).................
I use hotmail on the standard email program. At first mails older then 3 days just vanished from my phone...
I went into settings and changed mail to download from 3 days to all. So far so good.
But from time to time I get "new mail" but these are mails that have been sitting in my inbox for a few weeks (on the phone I mean)
How come? or is there another alternative? An app that links to hotmail (really link and not donload the mial to phone) and even refreshes at specific times to alert you if you have new mail?
I'm getting on great with the phone, it is one stunning piece of kit.
I do have an issue with the stock email client/widget. I've got it all set up to pull down any new messages every 10 minutes and I've set up the peak/off-peak times, etc.
What I don't get are any notifications for emails that I receive overnight when the phone is switched off. I can switch it on in the morning and leave it for as long as I want, but still don't see the new emails appear until I start up the email client.
After the client has been run I get email notifications without any problem.
I connect to my own IMAP server and have Google Mail sync disabled.
Are there any email widgets which would let me see all my accounts on one screen, instead of having the stock htc one only showing one of them, then switch between the two in the app. It would be great if they were either shared inbox, or separate, but all fit in one homescreen panel.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a desire and im loving it, my only very minor gripe is HTC's own email widget/app.
I have it set up with my hotmail account and so far its functioning beautifully. However i do find it annoying that when i read an email on the desire, it doesnt mark it as read in hotmail in a browser.
Now this is possible as my nokias push email always marked it as read etc but this doesnt. Are there any settings i need to change or any similar alternative apps available that do this but also have full or half screen widgets?
Everytime I receive an email to my gmail account on my new Desire I receive two different notifications for the same email. My desire displays an envelope icon and a capital 'M' icon for the same mail and I have to go in and acknowledge both notifications to make the icons dissappear. How can I recieve only one notification for my gmail account.

I have a strange problem with Push email on my HTC Desire. I can set this up no problem - email comes in but only manually. I cannot get the push to actually work. When I go into the send receive schedule I can set up the days/hours for peak off peak and push but regardless of what I set these to be, when I go back to the previous screen it always says the Schedule is Manual. I've tried setting up lots of variations from manual through timed to push but still the same. Net result is push never seems to happen - manual overrides my schedule. To pick up email I have to go into email and do a manual sync.
View 15 Replies View RelatedBasically I bought something off eBay and received a generic email to my hotmail account to say I'd won the auction. When I try to open in it does nothing, when I try and delete it it force closes the email program (I use the stock email program)I went to my email account on my PC and the email isn't even on the server!
Also my other account (also hotmail) has wiped out my entire inbox! luckily it's my old email account and I don't think I had anything important in it.I set my settings as follows a month or so ago.and havn't had any issues untill now.
i recently added hotmail account and then removed it from my phone - but on the home screen it is still showing that i have emails to read i have tried to re-add the email account but a message comes up stating that it is already added.

With this one if it doesnt connect it wont let you. My email smtp is smtp.dsl.pipex.com However i believe the three network which i am on block the port this ISP uses. so i cant send mail from my phone. How can i get round this? im not to bothered about the fact i cant send but because of the menu option it wont let me finilize to recieve? im so rubbish at explaining myself Hope this makes sense guys?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just swtiched from Blackberry to the HTC Desire. On my Blackberry, push email was exactly that - it was instant. On my new Desire I can't seem to find any settings to set it up in the same sort of way i.e instant email. I have succesfully set up around 4 or 5 accounts and the nearest settings I found was setting it to download every 5 minutes. Is this the nearest the Desire get's to push email?
