View 4 RepliesI got a call and while I was talking my cheek hit the "end call" button. I'm thinking this might start being an issue. I have my screen set to time out after 15 sec but that was apparently still enough time for my cheek to end the call lol. Is there a setting somewhere on the phone where I can change it to when I get a call the screen goes blank faster?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am toying with the idea of putting a Froyo Rom on my desire, but have several questions that aren't answered in other posts.
1. Will I need to unlock my phone before, during or after changing the Rom? I am not overly bothered by the orange stuff on my phone, but am worried about losing my WiFi connections!
2. Do I need a goldcard? Some instructions say yes, other no. None mention orange handsets specifically.
3. Which is the easiest & safest method to root my phone, if I want to put the Froyo Rom on it?
4. What if I want to change Roms - do I need to do the whole process again? I've seen something about a Rom manager, but where do you get it and how does it work?
5. Which Rom do I use? I've looked at some I'd the modacco forum ROMs, but most don't actually say what you do or don't get with them.
6. What's that difference between a2sd and a2sd+? Does it come as part of the ROM or so I news to get it separately?
I just purchased an HTC Desire from Telus in Canada. Just came back from Pacific Mall disappointed as no one could unlock it. Any reputable websites you can recommend where I could purchase an unlock code online?

As the phone is unlocked does this make it easier and do I have to root and debrand or just do one of the procedures in order to get rid of the bloatware and get 2.2.
Will HTC Desire purchased via T-Mobile be locked to this network, or are these handsets always sold UNLOCKED?
View 23 Replies View RelatedIs there any downside to unlocking an HTC Desire to go with a different provider? In my province Telus offers the Desire, but I might want to go with an alternative carrier. So in theory I buy a phone, pay the $15-$20 and have it unlocked. Then take it to the alternative provider and they sign me up
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have no idea as to what the above terms mean. All I want is FroYo and all other updates without having to wait for the carrier (O2) to release. O2 are useless in releasing updates. And also I need to be able to use the phone with any sim. HTC Desire with O2 still on 2.1

But if the TCPClientService Service is executing in its own thread I don't know why this affects the timeout of the main activity.I would be very thankful if anyone could show how to prevent the application from hanging when the server is unavailable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering what the most effective way of preventing people from stealing my application (downloading a copy of the .apk online rather than buying it).I've spent a lot of time on one in particular (Droidbox) and won't be releasing Sync until I can guarantee that the people who are providing illegal copies of the pro version aren't able to.Anyone implemented this? I've tried checking my package signature verses an the signature of an unsigned copy but it appears to be the same - perhaps I'm doing something incorrectly here. I'm unsure whether people actually distribute the signed .apk in which case I don't think signature validation would work to begin with. Please note, this question is specific to Android Marketplace Applications - the difference being, application delivery is out of my hands and I have no way of linking between a legitimate purchase and an illegal download.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy application has an emergency button which dials 911 when clicked on. Every thing on the app is working fine. But I just discovered that whenever I try to add another call when I am in a call, it promps me to complete the action using. 1. my app 2. The normal phone And when I click on my app, it just opens my app. I do not understand what is causing this and do not want my app to be shown in that list.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a android application which is ready to release .so to release i have put the app in android market .the user can buy the app and can install the app into the phone.android market wont provide any apk file to the user .so normally we need not bother about re distribution of of the app to the unauthorized persons(who didn't buy the app). But what my problem is ,I heard that there is a jail breaking concept which can allow the hacker to get the apk file(installation file) from the device .(even though android market not giving the apk file to the user ).then he can distribute the apk file to all(to unauthorized persons ).how to avoid it.is there any thing to restrict the unauthorized person in using our app, even though he get the apk file . does android market provides the details of the users who has buy the app by paying?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI want to use the Smart Alarm Clock (same as the Sleep Cycle alarm clock for iPhone), but my Desire goes into sleep mode automatically. Is there an application or something else than can disable the sleep mode when I want it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm considering getting a screen protector, but I'm also wondering how much it'll affect sensitivity/responsiveness. If I do get something to protect my phone, what is the best material/brand/manufacturer to go with? Or perhaps just a leather case would be enough? That way the screen stays perfect and it's still protected when I'm not using it.
After all, I heard the screen quality is pretty good. It's glass, or am I thinking of a different phone? It might not be a "Gorilla" screen like the Samsung Galaxy, but I've heard it's pretty resilient. I think it should be ok with just a leather case, unless anyone here's already got some bad experiences with the screen?
Yesterday I made some modifications to my old HTC Desire HD. I removed the battery and instead soldered a fixed power adapter to the phone (at + and - where the battery usually is). It worked well, I could reboot it, turn it off and on as usual. But then I desided to flash another ROM (an unofficial CM 4.4 port), and now the phone is shutting down as soon as it enters the launcher. It says I need to connect the charger.
I can successfully boot the phone if I start the phone with the charger plugged in (which probobly isn't healthy for the phone but whatever). Then I can unplug the charger with no problem.
So, i've tried deleting the batterystats.bin file, replaced it with an empty file with no r/w permissions at all, but it will still be replaced by the system at reboot.
How can i skip the battery check att boot, or how can i lock it to 100% forever?
As phones like the Desire can be online a lot, should we all be using Internet firewalls to prevent unwanted attention from hackers, etc.?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am a new user and this could have been some bizzare newb thing I have to look out for, but this was odd. I was talking to a friend (friend #1) for a while (no headsets or anything, just holding against the ear). Near the end of our 30 min talk, I hear another voice. Thought it was just some racket in the background, hung up on friend #1, and on the line was friend #2. Friend #2 says 'who was that you were talking to, I heard the whole conversation.'
That freaked me out. Anyone accidentally do this? I doesn't seem that all the buttons you'd need to do a 3-way call would have actually be done in sequence with me not knowing and talking on the phone. What if this happened during a business call or something. I felt like I was in that Seinfeld episode where Jerry and George are on the phone and the girl on the other end of the phone heard the whole conversation.
Unlocked phone and swiped to right screen to access Email and my tasks widget deleted itself! It could do with being a bit slower off the mark for widget deletes imo
View 7 Replies View RelatedI remember reading that you could touch the screen to show the camera where you wished it to focus. I was trying that and in holding the focus spot on the screen after a second or so the camera snapped the shot. No push of track thingy. Replicated. Did I just miss this info? I was really surprised. For me, this makes the shot really steady and clear.
View 42 Replies View RelatedI hate belt clips/holsters and have always carried my phone in my pocket. Whenever I receive an incoming call on my incredible, the action of pulling it out of my pocket answers the call 99% of the time. I cannot screen any calls as a result and on one occasion, while driving, I had a hard time getting the phone out of my pocket and, unbeknown to me, the caller could hear me grumbling about it, so the call was picked up while still in my pocket even.
I've tried orienting the phone differently in my pocket (upside down, right side up, screen out, screen in), but the result is always the same. I've searched and searched the forum and the internet, but cannot find a way of locking my phone so that a button needs to be pressed for call answers instead of the screen swipe. Am I the only one having this issue? Is there a workaround that I don't know about?
