It's official, 2.0 is out and soon the SDK will be released to developers!
Let's hope this gets on the Hero fast! It'll be interesting, with Sense UI. Hopefully HTC has been working with Google on this and our wait is minimal.
If Sprint were the only company with the Hero, I'd be worried, but internationally it's all over the place, so that's good.

Official Press release here
Engadget Hands On Here
So what do we now know? No 32GB internal, just 1GB (but shipped with 8GB SD). No OLED, good ol' TFT. No 1080p recording (was far too good to be true).
Biggest Dissapointment? Android 1.6, not 2.0
Other than that, all the rumors seemed to shape up. I looks good on paper, the hands on was dissapointing to see it in such an unfinished state. I think I will have to reserve judgement till it smartens itself up a little more.

This is to confirm that we are working on enabling Pinch Zoom for the XPERIA X10. The work with this has progressed and the plan is that this will be enabled through an over-the-air update of the X10 that for most markets will come in Q1 2011. For more information on background and what to expect please read the corresponding blog post at http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/product...
This is SE official announcment about multitouch, and few month ago they say that it was not possible, but now they say that X10 support this. What to think people some alliens fly down and changed our mobiles or SE was able from the beggining to make multitouch and he didn't wanted. E SE lovers and Moderators of this forum i am waiting for comment from you pleasee......

I used to love mobipocket, but a combination of Amazon's unwillingness to release new versions of the code, and increasing regional restrictions on book sales have left me unwilling to use it.
In truth, they've made it harder to buy a book than it is to obtain a pirated version...
So, maybe Google Editions will bring us a useful, open standard for ebooks - we can but hope!

i am developing an application for android and would like for my users to be able to post some information from my application to their twitter feed. i know how to make this work by building a VIEW intent and forwarding the user to the android built-in web browser (thanks to stack overflow!) However, now that there is an official Twitter application, I would like to be able to use the twitter applications activity (if it is installed) to make the post. However, I can not find any developer documentation on what the Twitter Intent for Android is called. Can someone provide a short snippet of sample code that includes that text of the Intent to use?

I found out that on Android contacts, at least HTC Sense stores Facebook ID with the following mimetype: vnd.android.cursor.item/vnd.facebook.profile this differs from their mimetype format such as com.htc.socialnetwork.facebook/smallavatar
I am wondering where do I find a list of officially supported mimetypes for Android?

Well, they officially were approved from Itunes (Apple) a little earlier today and it is live. What disappoints me is the fact that they said they submitted it to Android Apps but it doesn't take but a few hrs to go through Android submitting process. And this was a few days ago from what I understand. I wonder when we will get it. I've been waiting for it since they announced the release of the Apple version. From the reviews I've been reading on itunes they said fairly positive. Minor things here and there but overall they are saying the video quality isn't half bad. Not as great as facetime but hell I'm sure it's better then movicha and the other one.

I have used Lambrospowers (XDA Forum) Rosie patch to enable drag n drop when in helicopter (leap) view. It works flawlessly on my rooted stock Froyo Desire. If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.

I have posed this question in some threads but as yet have made no progress.I am just curious as to why HTC appear to have left out the Bluetooth Voice Dialler function that can be provided by the Froyo 2.2 O/S. I believe this feature is present and enabled in some of the cooked roms and also in the Nexus one Vanilla 2.2 so why not here?If I have missed somthing simple or if anyone is aware why it is missing or how I can activate it that would be fantastic!

I am toying with the idea of putting a Froyo Rom on my desire, but have several questions that aren't answered in other posts.
1. Will I need to unlock my phone before, during or after changing the Rom? I am not overly bothered by the orange stuff on my phone, but am worried about losing my WiFi connections!
2. Do I need a goldcard? Some instructions say yes, other no. None mention orange handsets specifically.
3. Which is the easiest & safest method to root my phone, if I want to put the Froyo Rom on it?
4. What if I want to change Roms - do I need to do the whole process again? I've seen something about a Rom manager, but where do you get it and how does it work?
5. Which Rom do I use? I've looked at some I'd the modacco forum ROMs, but most don't actually say what you do or don't get with them.
6. What's that difference between a2sd and a2sd+? Does it come as part of the ROM or so I news to get it separately?

I've never owned a smartphone before and feel as if now is the time to get one as the buttons on my 2nd hand sony erricson c905 are starting to fall off.
I live in the uk and stuck between the HTC desire and Nexus One Froyo. From what I have read and learned, they are essentially the same phone, except nexus one receives the updates the quickest as it is the 'google experience' phone.
Right now im leaning more towards the nexus as it seems the froyo really does give the phone a stronger advantage. JIT, better interface etc... Am not that bothered about SenseUI and heard that froyo does make senseUI unnecessary in some areas. Despite rumors about the desire updating to froyo, majority of people are saying that it will be likely be autumn before the desire gets an update. So now that the froyo is picking up the interface and other substantial areas, what now gives the desire the edge over nexus?

Bought myself a Desire about a month ago from Play.com and stuck in a o2 payg sim i already had, really love it and everything is working great.I heard Froyo had been released ota so i decided to use the "check now" option however it claims that my phone is up to date. I've checked the softare information and its def 2.1-update 1, as far as i can tell the phone is definitely unbranded and there are no custom scenes or wallpapers.I even took the sim out and tried doing a check it still says there is no new updates. I'm a resident of the UK but as far as i can tell that shouldn't make a difference.I'm not in too much of a rush as its new software but i was just a little worried something was wrong. Anyone got any suggestions?

The Captivate (and Galaxy S in general) all come with Swype, right? But Swype isn't a market app right now, right? As in, the HTC Aria can't get it unless it is rooted/worked around (not too hard, but a hassle)
So is the Captivate the only phone on AT&T that can officially have swype? We all know that Apple won't let Swype in their market
Is swype coming to the official android market? is it already there? (I don't have an android, but I want one)
