Android :: Loading 2.0.1 To ADP2
Dec 24, 2009I see the following in the official description of the ADP2:
Modify and rebuild the Android operating system, and flash it onto a phone.
I'm not able to find anywhere a downloadable 2.0 or 2.0.1 for the ADP2, nor any indication that it could be done. To the contrary I see all kind of discussions suggesting it's either not possible, or at least not YET possible.
May someone please explain a developer withOUT any Android specific background, what is so difficult in uplading a new version of an O/S to a device that's specifically desgined for such purpose?
Do I really need to wait for HTC?

Mar 17, 2010Can the adp2 that I just bought through the Android Market be flashed with Android 2.0? I can't find anything anywhere. The HTC developer support only has system images for the adp1 and adp2 phones up to 1.6. If it can't I will be sending the phone back for a full refund.

Mar 2, 2010I am trying to access the sdcard on ADP2 from command prompt using adb tool and from window explorer, it says "Access is denied". I have followed the below procedure:
1) Installed the USB driver from Android site. 2) Connected the phone 3) Opened the "USB Connected" option from the notification bar of the phone, clicked "Mount". Also USB Debugging is enabled. 4) I am able to get the device name using "adb devices" command, also I am able to install APK file
But, when I tried to push APK or any text file to the sdcard, it is failing. This is the command I tried: "adb push Hello.apk /sdcard", it gives an error "Permission denied".
Also I tried accessing the sdcard from window explorer, it gives an error "Access is denied".
Also tried formating the sdcard, this sdcard works in the laptop and other non-Android phones, also did phone reset.
Android :: Code Base Sync With ADP2
Dec 22, 2009I'm trying to develop some middle layer application based on the source tree from android.git.kernel.org. I'm using the libmedia.so to link my code and has no problem. I also tried to link my code using the other libmedia.so which I pulled from HTC ADP2 (I ordered last week) and found that my code have many undefined references to some functions (or method).
This make me think that source code I gitted from android.git.kernel.org (two weeks ago) does not sync which the code in the HTC ADP2 Android device.
How do I sync my source tree with the HTC ADP2 ?

Let's hope this gets on the Hero fast! It'll be interesting, with Sense UI. Hopefully HTC has been working with Google on this and our wait is minimal.
If Sprint were the only company with the Hero, I'd be worried, but internationally it's all over the place, so that's good.

Oct 11, 2010Well, they officially were approved from Itunes (Apple) a little earlier today and it is live. What disappoints me is the fact that they said they submitted it to Android Apps but it doesn't take but a few hrs to go through Android submitting process. And this was a few days ago from what I understand. I wonder when we will get it. I've been waiting for it since they announced the release of the Apple version. From the reviews I've been reading on itunes they said fairly positive. Minor things here and there but overall they are saying the video quality isn't half bad. Not as great as facetime but hell I'm sure it's better then movicha and the other one.

So what do we now know? No 32GB internal, just 1GB (but shipped with 8GB SD). No OLED, good ol' TFT. No 1080p recording (was far too good to be true).
Biggest Dissapointment? Android 1.6, not 2.0
Other than that, all the rumors seemed to shape up. I looks good on paper, the hands on was dissapointing to see it in such an unfinished state. I think I will have to reserve judgement till it smartens itself up a little more.

Been a happy user for many years, but Nokia simply seems to be heading for a fall in all respects.This silly Ovi thing which will never take off, and the rapid decline of the quality and innovation of their handsets is the final nail in the coffin for me.However, I can't see any Android handsets that do it for me.While I think the operating system is miles better, there seems to be a massive drawback for Android phones - the imaging.There's not a single one with a decent camera - the hero and galaxy both have 5mp, but the images taken by them are nothing in comparison with all the Nokia generic 5mp CZ ones.So is there anything coming up that I would like? I noticed the Samsung behold 2, but that seems to be US only.Not to mention it might not be an better than the galaxy camera.I really don't want to go back to Nokia, but since I use my phone as my main camera, it has to be reasonably good. I know about the upcoming SE beast, but that's got a 4" screen, and I sold the i8910 because it was simply too big to comfortably operate.So.is there anything that could interest me? All I can see is the behold 2, and like I said,that seems to be US only (I'm UK).

Android :: App Working But GoogleMap Not Coming
Sep 22, 2010I have a very simple app showing current Position using GPS-Provider in emulator. (Location is being picked up from emulator Control). If I send any updated location, the new location also getting picked (showing toast) and able to animate to new point. I'm working behind a firewall (proxy enabled). - App is showing the MapView but background is Grey with line-Grids (not real google maps visible) - Proxy is working fine. What can be the reason for actual maps not getting visible? Do we need to get access 'enabled' for any kind of URL (which might getting blocked by firewall)?

Nov 24, 2010I have HTC Evo and installed Graffiti some time ago with no problems. Yesterday I did an update of several apps including Graffiti, which required a manual update to a new version. Ever since the updates were completed, I have an ad show up in the text input area. This shows when I'm either doing a google search, text message, etc. It's always an ad for Netfront Life Browser (which I don't have installed). It's really irritating because I have to tap the ad to make it disappear which makes Graffiti think I'm hitting the screen to input punctuation. So I have to tap it again to remove punctuation mode before I can enter text. The ad also will pop up in the middle of inputting the Graffiti text. I'm not sure if the updated Graffiti is forcing the ads in, or if it's another app that is causing it. Any ideas on how to fix this? I hate to lose Graffiti but something has to give - it's now much slower to use Graffiti than regular keyboard.
