I want to know if any of you know how much data the weather widget along with other widgets will use. Since i am only going to get the 200mb data plan i will be strictly watching my data usage.

Is there an alternative app for the stock home screen clock+weather widget? I just dont like the stock one and has not been able to find one which will give both time and weather..

I have been a Nokia fan for years, but for a few months now I am totally thrilled and amazed by Android. So I decided to drop my Nokia phone, and buy a Samsung Galaxy S. I saved some money, and next month will have enough to buy my very first Android phone. I cant wait to have that phone. However I decided to post on this forum to ask you two questions regarding the Samsung Galaxy S and Android.
1. As far as I understood Android synchronizes phone data in Google applications (Gmail, Google Calender, Googe Tasks, ect.). What if I do not have google account and do not intend to have one? Can I backup my contacts/messages/phone settings on my computer?
2. I saw that many phones (Samsung Galaxy S as well) have weather widgets on main screen which show the weather forecast. My question is that these weather widgets are available only if there is a wi-fi or mobile internet connection? If there is no internet available then these widgets disappear? Because I would like to get one of these widgets but I will have internet available to my mobile phone only at my home, so when I am outside or workplace there is no internet.
Was wondering if anyone has used both and if so, which one is better and why you think so.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo since the 2.1 OTA my weather widget will display the city, but no weather icon. if i sync it manually, it will show up. with 1.5 it would update every 3 hours, regardless if i had Background data on or off (i normally keep it off).
so now with 2.1 it wont sync unless i have BG data on, or do it manually. any way around this?
It just says 'my location' on the home screen, shows the time but not the weather.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried removing it and adding it back about ten times and it still won't show the weather..just says "my location" under the clock. If I click on the clock and load it, I can then click on the clock and it will load the weather screen, updated and all...but it still refuses to load it on the home screen with the time. Happened a few days after froyo update. How can I get the weather back as part of the clock widget??

Mine worked for a day and now I get the location but no weather update.
All other locations display all info fine.
Im in Australia on Vodafone - although from the previous mentioned thread seems to be software related rather than carrier location
So I got the 2.2 Update. If I try adding the News & Weather widget, the weather is always wrong. Always has the sun on all night and temperature is wrong too. I checked all options of course, should work fine. Has anyone else encountered this?

My only question is if anyone knows if it does wetaher alerts like the weather channel widget does. It also used to update the weather every hour and show a sun in the day and a moon at night but now even at 12 at night it still shows the sun. I've also set the weather sync in settings to update ever hour. does anyone know what it could be thats different in my phone now?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my news and weather app the weather does not show up therefore does not show up in the multimedia dock at night. I have tried zip code and geolocation. It keeps saying when i refresh weather info unavailable. IS anyone else having this problem? This just started happening yesterday morning prior to that i had no problems with it. The news portion is working fine.

I have beautiful widgets currently, but it doesn't show the full screen animations like she likes (windshield wipers if it is raining, bright sunlight when sunny, etc.).
I tap weather icon, get current location no city name and the weather info, I then tap "+" hit my location and it finds my city Corning NY, I add this to the weather app, I close out and hit weather app again and now I have to locations, the one that says current location and the one that says Corning NY, both weather datas are the same. My question is how to I delete or get rid of the current location weather data screen and have only the Corning NY screen when I open the weather app? The data for both is the same but I don't want 2 locations(one named) for the same data.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of the things I liked about Sense (I'm rooted now and running the Second Wave ROM) was the HTC weather animations when the screen was unlocked. After installing Widget Locker, I noticed an option to turn them on and now I have them back! I also installed the Weather & Toggle Widget and installed the weather skin that looks just like the Sense weather with the flip clock.The annoying part is that when it's sunny, or partly sunny, the "sun animation" from Sense doesn't perfectly align with the Weather & Toggle Widget weather icon. I know, I know, it's a minor problem and goes away when the animation is done, but the lack of symmetry sometimes annoys the hell out of me.

Basically, nothing I've seen is better than HTC Sense weather clock.Are there any GOOD alternatives to BW that includes a clock and weather animations or at least a good weather/clock combination?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a noob and this is my first phone with a data plan. I installed 3G watchdog and I see the usage going up even though I haven't done anything through the 3g network. I've done my app downloads and surfing via Wi-Fi and as the phone sits idle the usage creeps up ever so slightly. Is this from the phone updating and considered normal? The usage is about 1mb per day so after a month that's 30mb. Is something running in the background that shouldn't be and if so how do I find it?

I recently purchased Beautiful Widgets.
It has been raining hard all day, and even with GPS update activated, it said it was cloudy all day and it seemed to be about 4-5 degrees off every other site.
Is anyone else having Beautiful Widget mis-weather info?
On the homescreen...no weather picture. If I open up the weather, there is no big picture the thre small ones on the bottom for the forcast show pics. I read some older posts that show problems similar with the problem being googles weather service. I have tried using just the zipcode...Just the use local...nothing makes it show the weather pic.

It'll show the correct temp, for example, right now it's 66* but it's showing a bright sun saying 'clear', umm it's clear, but there is NO sun in sight lol. However, lately its been telling me that its sunny at night when it should say clear. the moon icon is correct and still shows up. Anyways.....so yesterday I downloaded Beautiful widgets which appear to be back in the market and it tells me that its sunny at night too? Any idea why? Also a question for beautiful widget owners. They said the weather animates. So far I have not seen any animations at all on the homescreen widget. Am I doing something wrong? If there are no animations and if its going to tell me that its sunny outside.....I'm returning it.
