HTC Aria :: System Update Option Missing

Jul 9, 2010

Under the system options then about phone, It appears the option for system updates are missing. If this phone was to be scheduled in the fall when HTC does Froyo, How would one go about getting it if you miss an OTA option or what not. Would it be a download instead? Another thing this phone is absolutely the best phone that I have had. I have tried the backflip, droid Eris and Moto Droid and this one in my option is the best!

Sprint HTC Hero :: Missing Data Profile Update Option

Oct 21, 2010

Today I woke up, tried to pull down my email and look up a couple things on the web and my phone keeps telling me I have no connection. The sync icon (arrows chasing each other in a circle) is stuck at the top of the screen and my battery is disappearing rapidly. I've done a couple battery pulls and reboots with no change.What I'd NORMALLY do is update the data profile under menu/settings/about phone/system updates... But something I didn't know about CM6 is that this option is not there. (unless it's hidden somewhere else, then please point me in the right direction)."No problem", I think There are other ways to skin this cat. I type in ##3282#, which should allow me into a menu that allows me to refresh the data service... The phone doesn't respond at all "Odd", I think. So I try ##786#, which should open the reset menu... The phone didn't respond to that, either.

Samsung Moment :: SMS Option Missing After Upgrade

In 1.6 on that same screen I had the option to Message them as well, is that something that could be wired back up? I use Handcent for messaging if that makes any difference.

Android :: Loading Native Libraries - System Load - Dlopen - Nexus One After FRG83 System Update

Nov 17, 2010

I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.

Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.

Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.

The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:

D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so

What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.

Android :: Files Written To SD Card Not Shown / USB Mass Storage Option Missing

Apr 8, 2009

My application writes data to a file in the SD card directly. There are no errors during the write. But, the file never shows up on the card, in the file browser (on the device - I use Glance). Where did the file go? When trying to browse the device from my desktop, I notice the USB Mass Storage option is missing guess that's expected since others in the forum explain that it was removed in this version. But, I can't get my PC to browse the memory card when it's stored in the phone. This all just seems to add up to a flaky memory management problem, but I can't be sure.

General :: IMAP Account Configuration - Missing Option STARTTLS With Encrypted Password?

Oct 14, 2012

* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE STARTTLS AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=DIGEST-MD5 AUTH=CRAM-MD5] Dovecot ready.

Means: IMAP with STARTTLS and encrypted (MD5) password

What is supported by the 4.1.1: None, SSL/TLS, SSL/TLS (all certs accepted), STARTTLS, STARTTLS (all certs accepted).What I would need is STARTTLS with password encryption md5 (automatically detected or fixed configurable).

Sometimes that is all that happens and once you hit the force close the message goes away, at least for a while. Other times when this happens it deletes all of your text strings. Motorola Droid X :: Procedure To Get Missing Reinstalled As System Applications

Jul 26, 2010

I deleted a few system apps (all the social stuff, corp directory, email, etc). In a thread on DroidXForums (this one on the unrooting procedure) someone mentioned that they could not get the .604 update without some of the bloatware. Of course, this freaked me out a bit as I would certainly like to get Froyo when it comes out. So, I went about trying to reinstall the stuff I'd uninstalled. The system dump with all the default apps is here, and below is the procedure to get what you're missing reinstalled and visible as system apps. I used Root Manager but the same procedure should work for Root Explorer. If you prefer ADB I'm sure one of the more competent terminalists here.

-Place the apk(s) of the apps on your sdcard.
-Use your chosen means to copy the apk(s) to /system/app (this will require making /system/app writable. In Root Manager just press the R/W key when you're exploring /system/app).
-You now need to change the app's permissions. In Root Manager, long press on the app (in /system/app) and click on "permissions". Then make sure that only the following boxes are clicked: User Read, User Write, Group Read, Others Read.
-Make sure you make /system/app read only again by clicking that box in the top right while you're exploring the folder.
-Reboot phone.

Now the apps should be loaded and the system should recognize them as system apps (you can verify by opening Titanium and noticing they're in red). This should make you good to go for whatever OTA comes. If you're unsure which apks in the system dump correspond to the apps you've deleted, just explore your /system/app and compare it to the system dump app list. Any apks in the dump but not in yours are what you're looking for.

Android :: Calendar Sync Option Missing In Android 2.2

Nov 9, 2010

I have a Droid X 2.2. I noticed that the option to sync with google calendar is missing on my phone. I have done quite a bit of research and tried what others have suggested. Here's what I've tried so far:

- Clearing the "Calendar Storage" and then creating another google dummy account as many suggested.
- Adding an event to the Calendar. I couldn't - it kept asking me to sync with a calendar account first. In the settings within the Calendar, when I checked Accounts, there was no accounts to add, neither could I add one.

The weirdest thing I found is that I don't have the same phone options as many online posts say I should have. At the Home > Settings > Accounts & Synchronization, I have only Accounts but no Synchronization. Is there an alternative like not using Google calendar but some other online calendar to sync?

Missing Permission After Update

Apr 25, 2014

I already searched in the Internet an answer to my problem, but unfortunately I have not found a solution for my issue. I even wrote in this case on the official forum (groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/android-developers), Unfortunately, the moderators could not cope with this problem. Below I describe the problem:

I made an application that works fine on Android 4.1, which is why I reject the problems associated with the lack of "something". For now, it seems that in newer versions of android is a bug, because after updating to Android 4.3+ (API 18+) my app shows the message:

Quote:/cache/recovery/command: open failed: EACCESS (permission denied)

My application is an system application, so the file '*.apk' was put in directory '/system/app/' together with a suitable file access permissions (chmod), so that the 'context.getApplicationInfo().flags & ApplicationInfo.FLAG_SYSTEM' is equal 1.

Because the application uses the method 'RecoverySystem.installPackage(...)' I added permissions:

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_CACHE_FILE SYSTEM" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.REBOOT" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.DELETE_CACHE_FILE S" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMP LETED" />

More than the required minimum, because among others my application uses the method 'RecoverySystem.verifyPackage(...)'

Also, this method had problems after updating to Android 4.3+, but these problems have been solved after adding one of (or all) permissions:

Quote:

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORA GE"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STO RAGE" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_ST ORAGE" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.MOUNT_UNMOUNT_FIL ESYSTEMS" />

I think that one of the possible reasons may be bug in the 'bootable/recovery/recovery.c', but I can not find any confirmation.
