Oct 11, 2010Well, im low on disk space again! The icon keeps coming up every day or every other day! Each time it comes up, I clear data on certain apps, and I uninstall some apps from my phone! I've removed Twitter, Reuters News and Jewels in the last week.. Icon leaves but comes back few days later! And I have a lot of space on my phone by the way!

(I've done that for the cache from Dolphin browser to be saved on SD)I ve read the post regarding root to make the apps to run from SD for the moment I will not root my phone waiting for the 2.0.1 update.any other solutions? HTC Hero with 8gigs of memory installed. 2.1 OS.Like the title says: I am getting an error saying Low on disk space, but I have 6gigs free out of an 8gig MicroSd card. What gives? I suspect all my apps must be installing to the internal memory? Which is low with only 20megs left.I am almost sure that is what's happening. Is this by design? If so, is there a way I can install all my apps to the microsd card? I also have Astro File Manager installed and it is managing my systemapps cache and has placed the dir on: tmp/.astro/ So it's not a cache issue. Any ideas?

Oct 12, 2012A friend of mine has the xt311 motorola fire. It keeps bugging her for low disk space (the internal memory is almost full indeed, and all apps that can be moved to SD have been moved).
After some research, I read that some logs could munch too much space and that by entering the mmi code * # 9 9 0 0 # you get to move the logs to the SD. Unfortunately, the code doesn't work and returns the error "connection problem or invalid mmi code".
The other solution should have to be rooting the phone and partitioning the SD then expanding the internal memory to it with link2sd. But I read about a few problems people are running into with this method. So I would like to know if there's another way to resolve this troubling limitation of the xt311.
General :: HTC Aria - Using FolderMount To Clear Internal Space
Apr 3, 2013I just got my first smartphone, and it's an old one - an HTC Aria. I got it rooted with clockwork mod and am using the Cyanogen ROM with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
Well, it's such an old phone, I see that it only has ~185 mb internal storage. I added an 8GB SD card. Even though I move my apps to external storage, I can see that the data didn't get moved and is still quickly eating up all the phone's internal storage. I'm trying to use Madmack's "FolderMount" but am having trouble figuring it out. I think it might be an understanding of Android file/folder structure (I have very little). I'm considering buying the "pro" version (if it works for me), just so I can move the whole data folder at once and free up my internal memory again.
Here's my efforts at testing to see if it works. I'm trying to move the data from the "Plague, Inc." game to the external card (the app is already on the external card). So, when I choose source, it automatically starts me in the /mnt/sdcard/ but doesn't allow me to go "up" to any further root folders of that. So I found in the "Android" folder the "data" folder. I tried to FolderMount that but it gave me the error about the non-Pro version. So I tried the "com.miniclip.plagueinc" folder (knowing that it's currently using 15MB of data) and then using an app called SDCardManager (which I understand is supposed to make it easier for me to access my SD Card, like Windows Explorer or something), I made a folder with this path "/mnt/sdcard/foldermount" I think it should be the right path because it's also where my "android.tether" folder is that I know I created myself.
Anyway, when I pair those two folders in FolderMount, it copies stuff over, and the pin looks green, but it shows my internal memory hasn't changed, still almost entirely full. So what do I do to clear it up? I think my problem is in my understanding of the Android's file structure. I think on "source", I should be able to access some folder before "/mnt/sdcard", but I can't get there.
HTC Incredible :: Disk Space With "Dialer Storage"
Nov 7, 2010When i go to "Manage Applications" and go to "All" it shows "Dialer Storage" taking up 56.21MB. That seems WAY too high for any app. If I clear the cache for that does it just wipe the history of my phone dialer, or what exactly is that, and what will clearing the cache do?

Oct 17, 2010Anyone figure out a way to move the app installations to your SD card on an HTC Desire with Eclaire (2.1) installed? I'm restlessly waiting for 2.2 to be released by Telus in Canada but don't know when that's gonna be (hopefully sometime this month). As of now, I'm running out of space to install any new apps (especially big ones like, say, ANGRY BIRDS?!). I tried out the trial version and fell in love...and now if I want this app, I have to get rid of a bunch of my useful apps.
So ultimately, my question is (and I might be coming across as a newb here but hey, I just got this phone so give me a break) if there is a way to install my apps directly on the SD card? I know I could root it and install FroYo, but I just paid for a 3 year warranty with Telus that I don't want to void within 20 days of getting the phone.
If anyone has any updates on Telus getting the upgrade anytime soon, do let me know!

Jul 24, 2010Definite Memory Leak. Rooted Most bloatware removed also Using ATK memory starts around 280. I have atk set hourly memory leaks to around 170 atk runs brings it back to around 200 within another hour down 100 atk runs brings it back to around 130. No push, Email check hourly. No WiFi, BT and GPS. Moderate use. Could be why some are having battery issues. This problem also exists before Rooting. Hopefully 2.2 will remedy this issue. As for rooting no real performance boost after bloatware removed.

Aug 27, 2010I want the hulu app to work, apparently newest leak it does not. I can do root and s-off, don't want to go through backing up apps and restoring. Want the most stable 2.2. Needs verizon's 3g hotspot working. Doesn't need sense. What rom do I need, and what are the steps to getting this done? If it's always recommended to do a full backup, wipe, and restore, then bleh.

Samsung Moment :: Notification "Low On Space Phone Storage Space Is Getting Low"
Dec 16, 2009Had my Samsung Moment for about a month. LOVE IT. Few issues (same as everyone else has noticed), but nothing terrible. Until: Randomly today TWO Notifications popped up that said "Low on space Phone storage space is getting low." One was what seemed to be from the "hardware" and the other was from the "Work Mail" app (which I don't use, haven't used, haven't even opened). When I click it, it takes me to the Manager screen. So, I began uninstalling some apps I don't really use (I didn't have that many anyway...a couple of games [Solitaire, etc], Facebook, Notes). It started running really slowly and random Force Close messages would appear for things like android.process, messaging--things that have never Force Closed before. I turned it off (pressed and held the red button), waited a few seconds, then turned it back on again. Immediately after the "Sprint" logo lights show finished, I got another Force Close message. When the Home Screen showed up, I had the two notifications again "Low on space". When I cleared the notifications, only the "Work Mail" one would clear. I went through and deleted some more apps that I don't use. Got on my computer & Googled the issue. Found a couple of random forums that suggested cleaning out the Cache in the Browser. I did that. Cleaned the History & Cookies in the Browser, too. Then, I did a soft reset (took out the battery). Started it up again, SAME notifications. Less Force Close messages. But, it's running VERY slowly.
After a few hours, I noticed that I hadn't received any text messages or Gmail notifications. I had my sister text me about 2 hours ago. Still have not received it.
I really don't want to hard reset. I haven't synced my contacts (I have over 400 & the Sprint store had trouble moving them from my Centro to the Moment) to Google yet, nor have I hooked my Moment up to my Mac yet (the Sprint guys had no idea if it would work or not with Snow Leopard & I hadn't had time to check yet) and I'm worried to try it now that my Moment has gone crazy...I really don't want to lose 400 contacts.I don't download a lot of apps. Most are reputable (Pandora, MotherTED, Shazam, Movies, Jewels). The last one I remember downloading was Google Voice three days ago (which I haven't really used because I've had the flu). I don't know if this is a Malware/Virus issue or if I'm just an idiot & did something wrong. But, it's running REALLY slowly right now. Still not receiving texts or emails (though my Twitter app has notified me of a couple of @ replies).I'm going to call Sprint & Samsung tomorrow, then go to a Sprint tech store if they can't help. But, I'm just hoping one of you have come across this & can help before I have to deal with hours of hold music & techies who tell me to soft reset over & over again.
BTW:
After awhile, I finally checked the storage space:
External SD care: Total: 1.89; Available: 1.85
Internal: About 2 hours ago when I first checked, after I had deleted a bunch of apps it said I had 7.something MB, now (after not downloading ANYTHING or barely even TOUCHING the damn thing) it says 1.95MB. Which leads me to believe that the 7.whatever was not necessarily accurate.

Feb 8, 2010I've just been reading Complete backup regarding backup tools.What I am looking for is a way to backup my phone in an idiot proof fashion, so that I can get it back to the factory and OS settings it originally comes with.When I say backup, I'm not too concerned about SMS, email etc - but more of a one-touch way of resetting the phone to factory status in case I bugger things up when rooting (I can guarantee I'll attempt that one day).Do I need Sprite for that, or will the phone come with some sort of 'recovery disk'?
Regardless of that, should I get Sprite in any case for day to day backup? The site looks very impressive.

Mar 16, 2010I've powered off and pulled the battery. I've also deleted any Samsung drivers on my computer. If this problem requires a "hard reset" I'll wait till 2.1 because that (most likely) wipes all data which is what a hard reset will do anyway, yes? I'm caught in some weird USB connect boot loop. I've got debugging off, I plug USB from computer to phone, I get "USB connected" in notification bar. Ok everything seems cool, right? I use pull down menu to connect, get the "select mount" screen, I press mount then I get "turn off USB card" and then "preparing USB card".
Both in quick succession in the notification bar and then I'm back to"USB connected" again over and over and over again. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and if I open up Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Devices and printers, I can see that the computer sees something and is calling it SAMSUNG_Android and if I right click that icon to browse files, it comes up as Removable Disk (I) and it's grayed out and I can't get in. If I take the SD card out of the phone and plug it into the computer via microSD adapter, it reads it just fine.

Oct 27, 2010I am running one of the leaked 2.2 OTA Roms, everything has been working fine, except lately, as of a week or two ago, the phone won't mount as Disk Drive unless I reboot, and it wasn't a one time fix, I have to do this every time. I noticed that when I plug the phone into the computer, I don't get the message saying "Charge Only / HTC Sync / Disk Drive / Mobile Broadband Connect etc." And yes, I have it set to ask me every time, and I even set the default connection type to Disk Drive, and still I unplug it and plug it back in and nothing. I know it connected okay, the computer recognizes it as HTC Android device or whatever it calls it, and the orange light lights up on the phone showing that's it's charging, but in my computer all that pops up is a weird optical drive that I can't access.
