General :: App Settings Do Not Save?
Aug 25, 2011So I've noticed that some of my app settings (i.e. log-ins and such) don't "save" as of late. For example it started with Twitter where I had to always keep checking the notification boxes. Now it's gone even further...
I started using Evernote and every few hours, the app "kicks me out" and I have to log back in. I use Chomp SMS and it's not saving any of the customizations i set within the app. Google+ won't stay logged in either. Is it an Android thing? Do I have some sort of Memory leak? Should I wipe the phone and start over?
I thought it was due to the taks killer app, so I deleted that and rebooted.... then it still happened so I thought Juice Defender was killing the apps so I disabled it.... AND THE APPS ARE STILL DOING IT!!!

May 23, 2014I have an LG Optimus Showtime (android vers 4.0.4). Im wondering if there is a way to disable data use by a single app? I uninstalled Flickr app because it used up so much data. I would like to re install it again but only if there is a way to disable data when Im not using it. The only thing I see is to go into system settings, data usage, and then either go to a specific app and Restrict background data or Turn Off mobile data. The past few weeks I have been turning off mobile data when not using. I have went into some of my apps settings and unchecked notifications, etc., but that doesnt seem to really save data.

Mar 31, 2013Just have a quick question regarding the data on my phone. I am selling my phone tomorrow and I have a LOT of data on it which I need to transfer.
These are the things I wish to transfer-
-Contacts
-Old Messages and draft messages
-WiFi passwords
-Apps(lol obviously)
-App data
-Call logs
-Any other important things which I may have missed out.
I'm going to transfer my songs and videos manually via connecting my USB cable to the computer, I just don't want to mess up the other bits.
How do I transfer this to this to my computer so i can transfer it to my next phone? How do I transfer it to my next phone?
Additional info- My current phone is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V (rooted) running ICS 4.0.4.
My next phone is most probably the Samsung Galaxy S3(International Version) I have Titanium Backu(free Version).

Nov 15, 2011Currently, I have a Thunderbolt, but I'm planning on buying a Galaxy Nexus whenever that becomes available. Thing is, I have a few games I'm playing, and while I know I can simply redownload the games from the market on my new phone, is there any way I can also transfer the save data? I don't want to have to start all the way at the beginning, with games like Angry Birds, Cut The Rope, Symphony of Eternity, etc.
For what it's worth, my phone is not rooted.

Dec 9, 2012saving data usage on android.To those who use data plan on sim cards, there are plenty of apps that can monitor and reduce their data usage. ie: Onavo Extend, Opera Mobile/Mini.
But im using MiFi/portable hotspot to access the internet. Apps like Onavo seems working only in 3g mode, and not wifi.
So i cant ge maximum data savings on my MiFi plan.
Is there any apps, that can tweak android so that when i connected to my hotspot, it is detected as 3g. Basically something like that.

I have a Nexus S and I wonder if, with the option Settings -> Accounts and sync -> Background data & Auto-sync & Manage accounts (sync is on) the settings and savegames are automatically stored "on the cloud", let it be my Google account or similar, because I don't have a rooted phone and don't want to do that to preserve warranty.

Oct 17, 2013I have a Android Tv device Rockchip V8.
Yesterday I was using an app and all of a sudden it went to the main menu, anyways I shut the device down and restarted it and now all my settings went back to factory settings. I can still see in explorer that the apps and settings are there but I don't know how to get it all back the way it was without having to reinstall everything.
General :: How Google Backup Data In Settings Works
Feb 2, 2014When I had my iPhone, I can do iTunes backup to my Mac and when I have a new iPhone, I can do restore of the apps and data from the previous iPhone. It restore everything, including apps, the apps data, email configuration, etc.
For Android, there is "Backup My Data" under Settings --> Accounts. Does this do the same thing as the above?
For example, I tried to do this:
1). Check "Backup My Data"
2). Associate this with one of my Gmail account
3). Get a new Android phone and... I don't see "Restore" in the same Settings.
I DO see the settings to Backup My Data in the new Android phone, but I am afraid if I checked this, it will overwrite the data in Google's server
I am trying to figure out if Backup My Data can re-download all the apps installed in the older device, including the apps data. I don't care about email or contacts, since those are synced to my Gmail accounts.

Aug 7, 2013I have a Motorola RAZR V XT885 running stock Android 4.0.4 on Virgin Mobile.
A couple days ago I tried to set a mobile data limit at 6gb using the stock app. For some reason it thought I wanted a limit set at 500gb. Since then I have not been able to reopen the app to reset it or turn off the limit, settings crashes and sends me back to my home screen. I have rebooted my phone multiple times and cleared the cache, but I'm unsure where to go from here.

Sep 28, 2012my Android phone (LG P970). The story is the phone is working as much as I can call and text but the system is not stable. It's freezing a lot and then it's trying to reboot but after every rebooting my phone freeze on LG logo... the only way to run it again is taking out the battery and then system is starting ok but it's loading with all settings and data from few days ago... I have try to flash it with Smartflash tool... whole process whas without any error then phone rebooted automaticly and I find out that after rebooting my p970 sterted with the same old and notstable rom with all the call list and messeges from few days ago.. then I tryed to do the emergency recovery of my phone with LG software. Application asked me to type the model and S/N of my phone so I did that and again the whole process of recovery was ok (with no errors)... Then the phone rebooted on the end which is normal and again started with no effect of recovery.. it was the same ZEUS 7 rom, not stable and with all the data and settings from few days ago... I decided to use Titanium Backup to uninstall all the apps and I was trying to instal ROM MANAGER and run the recovery mode but in the middle of my work the phone freez again and then rebooted and then again freeze on LG logo... I took out the battery and again turned it on and when the system was loaded I find out that all the programs which I have deleted with TITANIUM BACKUP was restored somehow... EVERY time I try to restart in normal mode, reboot in recovery mode or even after flashing system is restarting automaticaly, it freeze on LG logo and the only way to run it again is to take out this battery... then system restoring all data and settings for some reason. maybe some of you know whot software i should use to do the FULL WIPE and get rid of the old borken system?

Nov 8, 2011I use my phone daily in a non-Verizon network, so having Data Roaming enabled is very important for me. The new ROM I installed, however, does not have a menu option for enabling/disabling Data Roaming.
Any way to do this through script? Or maybe there is something that can be changed in "build.prop" (or another file) that would change the default setting of Data Roaming disabled to be enabled?

I restored all my apps on my tablet but all my Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies and all other game data is missing from the tablet.
First, is there a way to restore this game data to the tablet WITHOUT root?
Preferably, I would like to seamlessly sync the game data between the 2 devices. It would be great to play a level of any game on my phone and then pick up at the same spot on my tablet. Is this possible?

Bring apps, settings and other data that you previously backup up to your Google account
Is there any way to limit this to settings and other data? I've used a TON of Android apps, and there are many, free and paid, that I have no desire to use again. I know a more robust solution (Titanium Backup, etc.) is better, but I'm not always running with root and I'm not looking for extremely-fine-grain control. I simply want to skip installing apps I haven't used in months! I know I could simply uninstall the apps, but there are a ton. I'm willing to uncheck the box if I can get a clear understanding of what I'll be missing if I don't sync. I don't have much time to experiment with it at the moment. For example, I don't remember if known wi-fi networks are synced (compare to Windows 8, which does - if I remember correctly - along with tons of other data)

Nov 19, 2013I'm on a family plan with my wife and 13yr old son. We purchased a Galaxy S4 for our son as a Birthday present in October. However, as of recent his grades have taken a dive. We notice he eats, sleeps and breathes on the phone. He primarily uses it for surfing the net, instagram or youtube. We were thinking of grounding him and removing his phone but we need him to have his phone as a point of contact. However, is there anyway to stop his data usage. I realize there is a setting on the phone to disable data usage but it is fairly easy to re-enable it.
Is there anyway to lock or password protect the phones settings or data usage?
I tried googling but the results kept yielding information relative to the "lock screen" which isnt what im looking for.

Feb 3, 2012I have been using Eclipse for a few weeks but for the life of me I cannot find a way to save some of the settings for the editors for JAVA and Android. By this I mean - save them so that from one project to another these settings remain the same without my having to go back into preferences and changing them each time:
1. Size of recently opened files list: 10
2. Displayed and saved tab width: 3
3. Insert spaces for tabs: ON
4. Show line numbers: ON
5. Set MY choice for Code Templates
6. Typing - Automatically close "Strings" - OFF
Parens, square & angle brackets - OFF
7. Automatically insert at correct Position - Semicolons - Off
Braces - ON
I have tried until I am blue in the face to do this to no avail.
