I was just wondering if it is at all possible to modify the lock screen on android? I don't mean replace it with an app or anything like that. I mean for example, if someone were to input the incorrect passcode is it possible to have a little "special" message if the pin is wrong?

Does anyone know how to set the Lock 2.0 as the default screen locker? If I reboot my CDMA Hero, then the standard Lock screen will appear. If I manually run Lock 2.0 first, then it will use that until I next reboot. Also, is there a way to modify the information that appears on the lock screen? I'd love to be able to see missed calls / reminders there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

View 1 Replies View RelatedA Tasker task that when I'm on the lockscreen, I can tap or double tap to turn the screen off. I've looked in the Tasker tasks and I'm unable to find anything for this. I already use the Nova gesture+ScreenOff app to turn the screen off when I'm unlocked and at the homescreen, which works perfectly. The only thing Nova can't do it turn the screen off from the lockscreen.

For instance, the name Dolphin Browser HD can't fully be displayed due to length. Android does this fade-out thing: Dolphin Bro and any other App with a name longer than 9ish letters fades out like this.
I'd prefer to simply customize the display name of the App so that it doesn't have to fade out. I find it incredibly ugly.
I am currently an iPhone 3G user and plan on making the AT&T Captivate my first Android-based phone. From all the reviews I've read and videos I've seen, it appears as though the Galaxy S (all carry variants) seem to have the same overly cool kelvin display (slightly too blue in the whites).
Do any of you know if it's possible to calibrate the kelvin on Android-based phones? Or perhaps if the Galaxy S has another way to calibrate the color / Kelvin of the display?

when emulator launcher is launched, it launches with default first launcher screen. I want to change that to some other screen. how to do it?
I checked apps/Launcher/src/com/android/launcher/Launcher.java. I think i change setContentView(R.layout.launcher) to my xml file(i.e setContentView(R.layout.trailpg) ) but where to copy my trailpg.xml file. I checked in Launcher/res folder( in layout or layout-land or layout-port).
Whether above analysis is correct? if yes where to put the file.

It doesn't do that if i plug,it,in a computer usb, it doesn't,do that and charges normally. Is that a wide spread issue.

I'm going to deploy 30 android tablets to a classroom in the College where I work, and since I love android, i'd rather not see this little experiment fail. Through a combination of "App Lock" and a widely distributed MDM, I have been able to accomplish most of my requirements, however i'd still like to be able to lock down the home screen, in particular, remove the ability for users to change the wallpaper (I have a nightmare that this feature would be abused from day one!).
I have looked at using different launchers (tried Apex and Smart Launcher) which nicely lock down the home screen, but they still allow users to change the launcher preferences which makes that approach a bit pointless.
my lock screen has a line of gibberish on it. At the top is the date/time an volume control, then a line across the screen as normal. Below the line to the left is like a status area, it normaly says nothing, or says Charging %% (if plugged in) or connect charger (if low battery). but for some reason this week if it is not low battery or charging, it has a line of jibberish that goes almost the whole way across the scree. is ~~~~~~+~~~~~aaqa~~a~~+~ What does this mean & how do I get it off my screen. It doesn't seem to effect the phone functioning. & as soon as I unlock the screen it goes away. So more of an annoyance then anything, but I want my phone to be working perfectly.

I have a Motorola Razr Maxx that is running the latest OS, and is rooted. I recently broke my screen and cannot get past the lock screen so I can start my VNC server (to continue using my phone without the screen). I have searched through what seems to be all posts on bypassing pattern lock and I have not been able to succeed yet due to permission denial for super user in ADB, not having sqlite3 on my phone, and not being able to flash anything onto it in recovery mode.

I've got the screenlock password on my Galaxy Note. It's in English layout (it was originally entered in Swipe keyboard). Then I've changed the Settings to Samsung keyboard and French layout (same latin letters) and switched off the screen. Now my pass is not working as I cannot change layout to English (the settings button on keyboard is grey). So would you recommend any solution as I don't want to wipe all the data. Is it possible to change layout to original English or reset password somehow?

I have been trying to create a profile where if im connected to my home wifi, the lock pattern on my lockscreen will be off. if im not connected to my home wifi network, I want the lock pattern to be back on. When i press the lock button on the phone which is roughly 2 months old, the lockscreen goes of for a second nd then automatically turns on stating tht swipe to unlock, life companion and etc.
I have been using Handcent for awhile and really like it. But yesterday switched to Go SMS Pro to check it out and because I like some of the themes.
But I noticed, unlike Handcent or ChompSMS, it does NOT have a popup window with incoming text on the Lock screen! I like to check out my text and maybe send a quick reply without unlocking my phone.
I can't find the option anywhere in Go SMS Pro, so I think it doesn't have it. I'd like to continue using it, but I think I'll have to go back to Handcent for the Lock screen text.
