So I just got done installing the leaked OTA and rooting my phone, but now I've read conflicting reports that when Froyo comes out in a couple weeks, I won't be able to install it without going back to stock 2.1. Even worse, going back to stock means erasing all the data and apps on my phone. I was under the impression that one could use Titanium backup to make sure all apps, data, and settings can be re-imaged to the phone, but then I realized that Titanium only works if you have root, which I won't if I go back to stock. But when the official update comes out, how do I install it without losing all my data? Why can't I just install it on top of the rooted OTA update OS?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just rooted my s4 i9500 runing official os 4.4.2, im new at this, I rooted my phone so I could get a different experience with it, like overclocking cpu to get faster performance (dont really know how to do this now that I have root access) (not thats runing slow, but just wanted to get the best out of it) Im really new at this I barely learned the process of rooting I've read I can flash a new rom like cyanogenmod (i guess is the best because it gets a lots of reviews) the thing is im not really sure how to do it and also is it worth it?
I want to get the best out of my phone (speed and goodlooks) mostlu because im bored of the original touchwiz.

Apparently I can't do anything about this through eBay, so I need to keep the phone, so really just trying to restore it to a good condition. Does anyone know where I might be able to get an official SGS housing? I've searched all over but have had no joy so far!
I accidentally uninstalled camera.apk and now I can't get it back. It still exists is system/app but I can't seem to install it. I've tried everything. How can I get my camera back? I set permissions but it didn't work. Btw I have Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i and Android 4.1.1 system.

I've been following all the steps given in the tutorials on XDA and youtube and many other sites to install CWM in Galaxy Grand, but to my misfortune, whenever I complete the process and try to open CWM using VOLUME UP+POWER+MENU button, the ANDROID SYSTEM RECOVERY <3e> menu opens and then I could do nothing.
I've tried installing CWM 9 times and also tried removing the batteries.
What should I do???
i use a samsung galaxy pocket but there is a problem when i turn off my phone , it displays "on key 7s reset " i don't know what's it means.
so i wanted install the stock roms agon called xxfl5 but i am already on xxfl5 firmware and when i try to install with odin it doesn't work it's too low.
I've looked everywhere and tried every method I've come across including, reinstalling kies, removing upperfilters in regedit, updating wmp, reinstalling drivers. Nothing seems to work.
When I try to reinstall the samsung drivers it comes up with access denied. I've got a galaxy s4 mini and tab 2. Same thing happens to both.
I just wanted to start a thread for comparison between the two if anyone has used both, please give us a review! Just trying to decide if I should flash to the 1.5 stock to receive the update.

I found a way of sending files via WiFi to the sdcard, and also connected adb via WiFi, but I can't flash the new recovery because I'd have no WiFi connection in fastboot. Is there a way to flash an official update from the sdcard using stock recovery? I successfully entered recovery but there are no options, and I can't find a guide of any kind. I tried buying the cable, but none of the shops had the official one, so finally I bought a third party cable that only charges the phone through usb, but windows gives me some error and doesn't recognize it as a device.

View 12 Replies View RelatedThis is the weirdest thing that happened to me. I got the official Tmobile unlocked code when I got my Vibrant 2 months ago. I have both ATT and Tmobile service. Very easy. There's two way to unlock it per Tmobile's instructions. Please be advised there are two different ways to unlock this device. It is very important that the instructions are followed as listed.
If using a T-mobile SIM card:
1. Put in a T-Mobile SIM card.
2. Turn on the handset.
3. Enter: #7465625*638*Unlock Code#
If using a Non T-Mobile SIM card:
1. Put in the Non T-Mobile SIM card.
2. Turn on the handset.
3. Enter the Unlock Code provided by T-Mobile.
Note: DO Not enter #7465625*638*unlock code# with a non T-Mobile SIM card, as this causes the handset to freeze.
If you receive an error message while performing the instructions do not make any further attempts to unlock the handset. Please be aware that if an excessive amount of incorrect attempts are made, the phone will be permanently locked. You will need to verify the IMEI by pressing *#06# and contact Customer Care for support. Anyways, I just popped in my ATT sim into the Vibrant and used the unlock code I was given. No problem for almost two months. I switch Tmobile/ATT sims with the Vibrant. So this past weekend, when I put the ATT sim back into the Vibrant, the phone asked for the unlocked code again. It's a good think I save all of my emails with the unlocked code. But is this normal to have an official unlock code and the phone "relocks" itself? This is the first time I've ever had a GSM phone (with either ATT or Tmobile "relock" itself").
updated to official 2.1 update on Moment. Whenever I attempt to add contacts, they don't show unless I search. If I sync gmail, those contacts show, but then not even the ones I added manually show up, even by search. Maybe they were overwritten in the sync...o.k. So I add them again, they JUST DON'T SHOW UP. WTF is this crap. I like google and all but are we actually expected to only use gmail/google services to manage our contacts?

I am in Canada and the phone is unlocked (I am using it with Wind mobile) and am wondering if there is an official update to different version of android (I had the magic before and it was all just done for me). Also does anyone know if the phone will relock, all the manuals are not in English so I am not sure the original carrier of the device. (The Samsung website only seems to list the L version of this phone).
