View 3 RepliesI am trying to register a Broadcast Receiver that catches "com.android.vending.INSTALL_REFERRER" intents launched by Android after an app is installed from the Market. However, I cannot use Google Analytics so I have created my own solution. I have added the following to my manifest file:
<receiver android:name="com.test.Receiver" android:exported="true">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="com.android.vending.INSTALL_REFERRER" />
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
and created a basic BroadcastReceiver class:.........................
I needed to track install information, so i used com.android.vending.INSTALL_REFERRER intent for google analytics: http://code.google.com/mobile/analytics/docs/android/
I have put that intent into manifest as following:
<receiver android:name="com.mycompany.MyReceiver" android:exported="true"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="com.android.vending.INSTALL_REFERRER" /> </intent-filter> </receiver>
Inside MyReceiver class, i've implemented:
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { String referrer = URLDecoder.decode(intent.getStringExtra("referrer")) Log.d(TAG, referrer); com.google.android.apps.analytics.AnalyticsReceiver receiver = new com.google.android.apps.analytics.AnalyticsReceiver(); receiver.onReceive(context, intent);}
Then i installed app using generated at http://code.google.com/mobile/analytics/docs/android/#android-market-... url, and got this in log:
DEBUG/TestApplication(31977): utm_source=androidmarket&utm_medium=device&utm_campaign=search&utm_term=pname:com.mycompany.test.market&rowindex=0&hl=en&correctedQuery= WARN/googleanalytics(31532): Badly formatted referrer missing campaign, name or source WARN/googleanalytics(31532): Badly formatted referrer, ignored
So, instead of referral data that was given at url generation, i've got data which looks like i was searching for my app at Market
Does anyone have this kind of trouble, or knows how to help?
I have a specific problem that has persisted through multiple android devices, through all ROMs and builds. Currently I am on a Verizon galaxy nexus with cyanogen 10.1 (background in case it's more relevant than I believe).
When a timer or alarm goes off on my device, or when I receive a call or text, my screen wakes automatically. I think this may be considered a "feature" in android. However, since my phone is nearly always in my pocket, it means that the screen turns on and often receives enough of a false signal in my pocket to disable an alarm or decline/accept a call. It is very inconvenient and would be alleviated if I could specify that I want my device to turn on the screen ONLY when I press the power button.
I know that others have the same problem from searches on xda and elsewhere, but I don't see solutions (except what looks like a registry hack on some specific devices)
How to get a cover to stop screen interactions while in my pocket, nor do I want to hear about a more elaborate lock screen to keep said interactions from interfering with alarms/calls. The problem is simply that the screen comes on at all with seemingly no way to change the behavior.
My phone is Xperia Arc S, android version 2.3.4 Phone is rooted.
Now, I think I used ALL utilities there are to keep that damn unlock slide from appearing every time I turn my phone on. "No lock", and all that stuff, a lot. But all of those apps fail from time to time which makes me mad. Why the unlock exists at all?! A stupid invention of apple. WM didn't have it and was just fine.
Anyway. Is there a way to kill that unlock once and forever?! I guess editing some file with Root Explorer might work (did so already to prevent my Arc from waking up by "home" button - just edited some "keyboard.txt" file in text editor). Something like that, a real hack, not an app again, I guess those apps get kiled sometimes by system, no matter what... so they fail accidentally.
And if yes, what is the name of the app/service that I have to freeze using Titanium Backuup?
I have a 8 GB SD Card with only about 550 MB free, and the stupid media service creates 500mb worth of thumbnails and cache. It re-creates it each time I delete the cache. I'm currently running MIUI Gingerbread 2.3.4. Back when I was running CyanogenMod 6.xx I used to simply freeze the Gallery app and that used to solve the issue, but I don't see the gallery app listed in Titanium on the MIUI ROM. Freezing the MIUI Gallery app didn't stop the thumbnail cache creation process.
Creating a .nomedia file in the respective folders isn't an option because I need my photographs (I have about 20k worth of family/spouse pics that I always carry around on my phone in addition to wallpapers etc.) to be visible in Quickpic / Fishbowl photo app etc.
Ok... So, is there anyway to force rotation-lock to turn off on a Nexus 7 with Android 4.2.2?
Reason: I cracked my screen from the bottom left of the screen to just shy of the top right corner. The lower section, below the crack, is not responsive to touch... and the dots I need (I use the pattern pass) are on this side because I can't flip the tablet.
How This Happened: I turned on rotation lock with the tablet upside down to keep it there... But then my Nexus 7 decided to restart randomly and keep rotation-lock on but coming back in the default orientation, aka the wrong way that I need it to be.
It looks like ics automatically runs the "Android is Upgrading" thing whenever it senses some "change" in boot.img? It happens everytime i flash a kernel, without wiping dalvik cache. It will continue to run regardless of whether the dalvik cache files are present or not. This is actually a good feature.
But i noticed that if i simply do a nandroid backup of /boot, and restore it without doing anything else, or flash the same kernel again, it will boot up with the "Android is Upgrading" thing again from the start.
is there a way to disable this, or at least prevent dalvik cache generation if they are already present? im using amon Ra recovery
I don't really use it and i prefer the normal Android home sceens way better than Magazine UX and it is very limited and have no use for it.
I would like to disable the Magazine UX on my Tab Pro 8.4.
And i don't really want to root/custom ROM the Tab Pro 8.4 just to remove Magazine UX.
how to disable Magazine UX on my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4? How to remove Magazine UX?
If i can't disable Magazine UX then it won't be a big deal breaker anyway because it does not slow down my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.
I've recently switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy 4. While there are a few issues in adjusting, one major annoyance I am finding is something called 'Google Now' popping up wanting setup. Frankly I'm sick of this doing so and want it to go away, but I don't know how. I've disabled Google notifications and push, but it still keeps coming up - it just seems random with no pattern as to what I am using or doing. I can't delete it because it's not in Apps. There seems to be nothing about how to get rid of it on the 'net unless it's installed - which it's not.
I throw this phone into a wall. I'm loving 90% of it, except for all the maddening and idiotic notifications, prompts, and insistence to install useless rubbish I don't want... such as Google Now.
how to disable certain noti.? All i can find is how to disable them if you have jellybean and i dont.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn 4.2, I'm batch restoring apps in titanium backup. Every app restored requires a "Do you want to install this application?" prompt which requires me to click "Next" one or more times, then "Install" before it'll restore that app. This becomes tedious. Back on 4.1 it would just do all my apps without my intervention. I have unticked Settings>Security>Verify apps.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAny way to disable the screen dim that occurs a few seconds before the screen off occurs?
The screen dims even when it is plugged into the charger. Gets annoying when I have it mounted as an MP3 player in the car for example, or even if I'm just using it in bright light.
The maximum screen dim level setting is too dark to see.
Is there any way to disable logcat? I tried the build.prop entry method but it still runs. I was just trying to see if there are any other methods? SPH-D710

is there any way to disable this?
Any way of completely disabling the physical volume up/volume down buttons (specifically on an SG Mega 6.3)? I never, ever use them, other than to put the volume backup having accidentally depressed volume down! If there's any kind of app or tweak that will disable them that would be great. The only caveat is that my device isn't rooted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Casio Commando not that it should matter. I've gone to Settings, Language & Keyboard and can't find anywhere there to turn off Auto Correct when texting. I don't mind it suggesting words and then me selecting them but it drives me nuts when I type a word and hit space and it automatically changes the words. How to make this stop, I'm ready to ditch Go SMS Pro and try another messaging App at this point.

I have a BlueAnt Endure headset connected to my XPZ. Randomly my phone will dial someone from my phone book. I have just realised that it is because I keep the headset in my pocket (when not in use) and if I accidentally lean on it and subsequently press the command button twice within a few seconds it will enable the 'Voice Dialer'. It will then interpret any noise or voice into random numbers or sometimes a phonebook name.
I have called BlueAnt and they tell me that I cannot disable the 'Voice Dialer' command within the unit.

Also, is there a way to remove them from the stock SMS? There were no contact photos in my text messages until I updated to 4.3. Stock ROM and not rooted.
