View 1 RepliesI do really love cloud computing... But, Google seems to have forgot something: set a limit to the cache size.
I have a Nexus S and my poor 16Gb internal memory is saturated because of caches: Google+, Android Gallery (Picasa), Google Music and Google Listen all fight for the sdcard space.
The only apps who have explicit cache settings is Google Listen... The others don't have obvious options. I have 10K songs, 10-20K photos, etc.. I need to access them, but I need to limit the cache size.
Is there a way to easily limit cache size per apps?
I want to limit children phone usage. Now I use combination: Avast, Norton Family, Datalock and Applock. This works fine when using only mobile network. Other child doesn't have mobile data, only wifi. I couldn't find app to limit data in wifi?

I only have 750 MB, and I'm going way over that. How can I get my phone to use wi-fi as much as possible? There's wi fi in alot of the places I work but not at home. Most of the usage seems to be software updates, and google play store updates, and a few other apps being updated. Can it not wait to do those updates until wi fi is available to save my data. I'm with Orange btw, and the local wi fi netwrok is with O2.

When I start a new thread for sending a text, I look up the person in my contact list. The problem is that for some people I have multiple points of contact. (ie cell phone, home phone, fax, email address) Let's say that I want to text a person named Jason. If I have 6 people in my contact list named Jason, by the time I type in the 5 letters in Jason (I haven't limited it by their last name yet) I could still have 24 contacts, if every one of those Jason's had a cell, home, fax, and email in my contact list.
Is it possible to have my phone or the settings on my contact list or settings in my texting/messaging application set so that only mobile phones show up in the contact list when Im IN the texting application?
Even if there is a unique name I don't like having to select that person's cell number contact - as opposed to their email, fax, or home contact when I just want to send a quick text.
I get a video recording time limit on my LG G2X. It stops at 10 minutes no matter what video app I use. I have 30 gigs of SD space so that is not the issue.

Is there a way to increase (or disable it!!!!) Message Text Limit more than 1000 messages per thread/conversation??
In Froyo 2.2.1 there were an option called "Delete old messages", but in Gingerbread this options is not present and I just can set numbers from 10 to 1000 of messages per thread/conversation.
I need to remove this limit without installing a CustomROM (currently I've the stock one), is it possibile?
(I'm using Motorola Atrix 4G with Gingerbread 2.3.6 and I've got 2Gb of free space for system's apps and SMS, so I'm not worried about space occupied for text messages)
I bought a Chinese cell, Mlais MX58 Air, but its UI is limited to 32 FPS, is there any way to unlock or limit to 60 FPS?
Could do this by modifying the kernel? You can modify a kernel or pick up another device and add my information?
I would try to use this kernel: [URL]....

View 1 Replies View RelatedI like dropbox's Camera Upload feature, but quite often I find that it will saturate my internet connection and everything else on my network struggles. Especially if it is uploading video recordings off my phone. Is there a way to place a speed limit to the data upload rate? Kind of like a bandwidth limiter for Android?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHTC Sensation 4g which I love--but for just 1 gig of internal software, some of which is obliterated by bloatware...I keep clearing the overall cache and uninstalling apps, and every time I look up---space is disappearing again. No matter how much I seem to clear, it gets used by something.
At this point there isn't a whole l_ot left I can clear. I've moved everything I can to the card. The apps left on the phone that I control (the HTC bloat ware can't be uninstalled) are coming down to ones I want to keep.My theory is that it is three things largely eating up space: Facebook, G+ and/or gmail's contacts.
Now, all 3 apps I like and use, but in any event I must have Gmail and contact; it is highly desirable to have FB, and I really can't uninstall FB or G+ anyway with the HTC sense configuration. When I clear the cache of G+ and FB, I usually recover quite a bit of space--and then it's gone again once I use it.
So, is there anyway to limit how much data Fb/COntacts/ G+ download to my phone?
I'd like to know if this is by design (it happens to everyone) or if something's just up with my phone.
Whenever I get an email with more than 5 images attached, thumbnails show up for only the first five. Any after that have an empty space where the thumb should be, but each image (first 5 AND any following images) has buttons to download or preview the image. So while I can conveniently get a good idea of what the first five images contain, I have to preview or download any following images to do the same, which requires opening the image in a separate image viewing app.
My phone's a Sprint Epic 4G Touch, with Gingerbread (2.3.3, I think), and I'm using the Gmail app, version 2.3.6.

Just want to know if theres an app/zip that allows you to control the number of times that your phone will give off an audio notification in a predetermined amount of time ? Like if I'm using an IM app and don't want it ringing more than 3 times in 30 seconds. Hope you understand what I'm asking.

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow about putting a limit on the max number of apps that can stay in the task-switcher cache? or allowing selectively selecting which ones stay in the memory N others like tools n utilities frontends (like cpu spy, callrecorder, camera, setcpu no frills, etc) should get the heck out of the cache.
the ideal would be to have only 4 real-app (not utility/tool) [not]processes /cached tasks/ at max for 512mb fones (like my xperia s) and maybe 6 for 1gb ones.
I am developing an app that uses the speech recognizer but I only want the speech recognizer to listen for speech for x number of seconds regardless of when the last speech input was or was not recognized. I looked through the speech recognizer documentation and I didn't see parameter to set the exact time the speech recognizer runs for. How I could accomplish this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't really use it and i prefer the normal Android home sceens way better than Magazine UX and it is very limited and have no use for it.
I would like to disable the Magazine UX on my Tab Pro 8.4.
And i don't really want to root/custom ROM the Tab Pro 8.4 just to remove Magazine UX.
how to disable Magazine UX on my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4? How to remove Magazine UX?
If i can't disable Magazine UX then it won't be a big deal breaker anyway because it does not slow down my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.
I've recently switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy 4. While there are a few issues in adjusting, one major annoyance I am finding is something called 'Google Now' popping up wanting setup. Frankly I'm sick of this doing so and want it to go away, but I don't know how. I've disabled Google notifications and push, but it still keeps coming up - it just seems random with no pattern as to what I am using or doing. I can't delete it because it's not in Apps. There seems to be nothing about how to get rid of it on the 'net unless it's installed - which it's not.
I throw this phone into a wall. I'm loving 90% of it, except for all the maddening and idiotic notifications, prompts, and insistence to install useless rubbish I don't want... such as Google Now.
how to disable certain noti.? All i can find is how to disable them if you have jellybean and i dont.
