General :: App / Data Sync Between Two Devices?
Dec 28, 2013
I'm trying to find a one-way solution to sync 'app' & 'data' between 2 devices, and possibly make a full backup if ever needed.
I cannot get an idea of what each of the apps below do without downloading each one and making a mess. I was hoping some of you could shed some light. Considering these apps use a cloud service of sorts, I am assuming that old versions of files can be retrieved (from trash) by visiting the cloud service on a PC?
1. Titanium Backup Pro
2. DataSync
3. DropSync
4. FolderSync
5. Helium

Saw this mentioned at the Google i/o last week - when this is rolling out? It annoys me to have to keep dismissing notifications between my Nexus 7 & 4.

I am looking for an app that will allow me to sync files from a certain folder on one device (phone) to another folder on my other device (tablet).
I know this has to exists, but I cannot find such an app on the play store. Perhaps one of my file managers has this feature, but I'm unaware of it.

I own a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy Tab 3. I want all of the music from my phone to automatically sync with my tablet. I download to my phone directly and don't want to transfer everything manually each time I download a new song.
I see that Google Music can do this but it's designed for music that is stored on a laptop/pc. I'd rather not do it this way if possible as the whole reason I bought the tablet was to avoid carrying the laptop around.
note that the music is stored on the SD Card and not the handset. Not sure it will make a big difference but I thought I would point it out.

I have recently got a Nexus 7 and I was looking for an app that could sync my music between it, my Galaxy Nexus, PC and preferably also Macbook. I know I can use doubleTwist for this however I really like PowerAmp and would like to keep it as my music player. Is there any program I can use to achieve this (preferably with WiFi sync ?)

Any way to automatically sync Play Store applications across multiple devices. In other words, I have a Nexus 7, TPad, LG Connect (work phone) and then I also switch between a GNex and Rezound (personal phone).
Is there anyway that if I download an app from one device that the app will also automatically be pushed/downloaded on the other devices?
It is a real pain to have to remember to go to each other device and download the app, and even worse when I switch between handsets that may not have been used for several week.

I was wondering if there was an easy way to kind Of"sync"or transfer gave data for various games between two device. I am more interested in resuming my save data of Hungry Sharks Evolution that I already have On my Note II onto my Note 10.1, but transferring for Games like 4 pics word or Angry Birds would be nice as well.

I have recently bought a HTC One X and find it difficult to keep my Moto xoom and One X in real time sync for Apps and App data.
I have been through many apps and none are quick, easy and not internet hogging junk.
Now its not like iCloud where you download an app on one device and gets automatically pushed to your other devices quick and easy.
I know I'm not the only one with two or more Android devices and I want know how you keep your devices in sync?

Why do all Android devices constantly receive/send data traffic? Even though no app is requiring it for that moment.During a one minute period the data traffic light light up at least once.

I'm trying to limit my mobile data usage with out jumping through hoops.
I'm looking for a widget, that with one click of a button, it can restrict background data, disable auto-sync and enable mobile data, and when pressed again, enable WiFi, disable background restriction and enable auto-sync.
This function, no matter how trivial, would save time and effort.
Is there anything like this out there? Would something like this require root?

I want to buy a nexus 7 and I have a Sk17i. Before I buy the nexus, I'd like to know if there's a way to sync the data between them, without rooting the nexus and installing an App like DataSync.
Is there an app, which can sync the app data/game saves/etc for example over my wlan or is there no way? Because I don't wanna do the same levels I've played on my Sony on the nexus again!

Android tablets seem pretty cool, but what about those who already have Android smartphones? Will they have to manage two separate devices if they get tablets as well? My question is this: Can android devices sync apps and settings between each other? Will a Google account transfer all apps on one device to another automatically?

We have a client running Exchange 2003 SP2, and a few users would like to sync their Android phones - a Motorola Droid and an LG Ally, both running Android 2.1. Both phones give us the following error when configure a sync account:
This Exchange ActiveSync server requires security features your phone does not support.
I've made sure that Exchange ActiveSync is working, I've tried allowing unsupported devices in Exchange System Manager, adding the users to the device security exclusion list, but I'm not coming up with anything that will allow the Android devices to sync.

I am using Google Latitude on my Desire S (2.3.5).
My question is;
1) How to update Latitude (my location) info when I m outside without a Data plan (EDGE/3G) or a WiFi?
2) Will latitude updates work solely on GPS or just cell tower info alone?
3) Is there any way of storing my location info offline (from just network tower) and sync it to latitude when i am login into my Home Wifi?
Do i need GPS here too for a location data? or just being in cell network works?
Is there any latitude feature within mobile? Is there any free app to do this offline latitude location sync?

Is there a better way then using titanium backup and manually doing this? Seems like a crazy tedious thing to do. I jump back and fourth between the two devices even on an hourly basis. one is my phone and the other is a tab.

Same google and calendar accounts, using fruux. what gives?

I found an easy way to transfer app data from one android device to another. Recently switched to galaxy s4 from iPhone 5 and wanted to transfer my app data from my nook tablet that is rooted. I installed es file explorer and helium (carbon) backup on both. Then I backed up the apps i wanted using carbon on my nook. Opened es file explorer and went to carbon folder and selected apps I wanted to transfer, clicked send to and it transfered the files to my s4. Then I put the files into the carbon folder on my s4. Then restored them using carbon. Now I have my Minecraft data on my s4!

I've started working on some Android applications and have a question regarding how people normally deal with situations where you have a static data set and have an application where that data is needed in memory as one of the standard java collections or as an array.
In my current specific issue i have a spreadsheet with some pre-calculated data. It consists of ~100 rows and 3 columns. 1 Column is a string, 1 column is a float, 1 column is an integer. I need access to this data as an array in java.
It seems like i could:
1) Encode in XML - This would be cpu intensive to decode in my experience.
2) build into SQLite database - seems like a lot of overhead for static access to data i only need array style access to in ram.
3) Build into binary blob and read in. (never done this in java, i miss void *)
4) Build a python script to take the CSV version of my data and spit out a java function that adds the values to my desired structure with hard coded values.
5) Store a string array via androids resource mechanism and compute the other 2 columns on application load. In my case the computation would require a lot of calls to Math.log, Math.pow and Math.floor which i'd rather not have to do for load time and battery usage reasons.
I mostly work in low power embedded applications in C and as such #4 is what i'm used to doing in these situations.
It just seems like it should be far easier to gain access to static data structures in java/android.
Perhaps I'm just being too battery usage conscious and in my single case i imagine the answer is that it doesn't matter much, but if every application took that stance it could begin to matter.

I have a few Android devices and I play around with them quite a bit - flashing ROMs, etc. - and there's one thing that tends to irk me: When setting up my Google account on the device, there's the following checkbox:
Bring apps, settings and other data that you previously backup up to your Google account
Is there any way to limit this to settings and other data? I've used a TON of Android apps, and there are many, free and paid, that I have no desire to use again. I know a more robust solution (Titanium Backup, etc.) is better, but I'm not always running with root and I'm not looking for extremely-fine-grain control. I simply want to skip installing apps I haven't used in months! I know I could simply uninstall the apps, but there are a ton. I'm willing to uncheck the box if I can get a clear understanding of what I'll be missing if I don't sync. I don't have much time to experiment with it at the moment. For example, I don't remember if known wi-fi networks are synced (compare to Windows 8, which does - if I remember correctly - along with tons of other data)

I am developing my am on mac (10.5.8), on eclipse and SDK 1.6 and a Vodafone HTC Magic Everything was working ok up to a few days ago. I can not see my device on adb devices. I also got a Sony Xperia and I can not see it on the list either. I upgraded the phone software (the HTC) to 1.6 a few days ago. Maybe that is what caused the change, but I could not be sure.
