my classroom has recently required a classroom set of Galaxy Tabs and I'd like to know how to sync them all to one computer. Syncing them one at a time seems like laborious task.

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini GT-i9195, 4.2.2, stock-rooted-themed. I have 2 problems in apps, both Google apps.
1. When I go to Google Maps on the Play Store, It says that 'This item is not available in your country'. (Image attached) I never had this problem and it's a little strange. Anyways, I managed to get the APK and I opened the app and I get the 'No Internet Connection' error. (Image attached) The problem is happening when I'm both on WiFi and 3G. I reinstalled it but still, the same. What may be causing this?
2. When I get into chrome, it is not syncing from my computer, mostly bookmarks. Everything is thicked to sync both on my PC and Android, but it still doesn't sync. I tried reinstalling chrome, disconnecting the Google Account, but without luck. (Image attached) It stays "Loading.." when in settings/sync. (Image attached)
I've been unable to actually sync my HERO to my computer I've got the HTC Sync software installed, and when I plug in the usb cable from the computer, to the phone. The only selection that comes up is to mount/unmount the SD Card. Not to sync.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my phone to connect to the computer, so I can put music on it. But when I plug it in, all it does is charge. I've already tried to change the USB settings, so that it would pull Mass Storage, and it wouldn't do anything after the fact. The computer has no notification pop up when I plug it in. I'm going nuts here! And I only have two days to do this because I have a long trip ahead and I'm trying to sync music to it.
View 16 Replies View RelatedWondering if you all could help me out; I'm probably just a bumbling idiot, but any help would be appreciated.When I connect my phone to my laptop (running Windows 7 ultimate if that helps at all) it initially had issues collecting and recognizing the drivers.I went to HTC support, didn't find exactly what I needed as far as drivers were concerned but eventually, for some reason my computer officially detected my device, its drivers, and stated that it was ready to be used.Now I go to attempt to transfer music, but there's no icon in the my computer tray saying that the phone's connected as a mass storage device. I opened up Windows Media Player and it isn't in there as a synced device either. I used the disc that came with the phone but it seems to only have an application that tracks my exact usage (as far as minutes, texts, and data as well as transferring contacts and calendars which I'm not interested in) as opposed to something that helps actually sync my device for putting music on it.Please, bear with me here. It's my first true smartphone as my previous one was a Blackberry Curve 8330. It opened the exact way I would prefer this one to: as a mass storage device.Any glaringly obvious mistakes I'm making? Or is there a problem that could be hardware related on my end?

Here's my issue;
Basically when i sync playlists from my PC to my phone, it saves the playlists on my phone as .PLA format.
Now the only player that actually reads those playlists is my stock player.
I have tried several android players, but non of them will recognize the playlists.
On my PC for syncing i have tried
-WMP
-Winamp
-MediaMonkey
-DoubleTwist
All of these create playlists in PLA format on my device when transferring them, which wouldnt be a problem if i wanted to use the stock player.
As for android apps/media players i have tried:
-Cubed
-Winamp
-Mort Player
-Media PlayerPro
-Mixzing
-Astro Player
When i create a playlist using any of the apps on my phone, every other app is capable of reading them.
However, the playlist file can not be found on my phone, or my SD card. so i have no clue what format they are saved to, or where they are saved too.
I'm basically looking for a way to transfer my playlists from my computer to my android phone, and have the other apps actually read the playlists. The phone im using is the Samsung Galaxy S.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a class (online) or tutorial that teaches android programing for dummies? It's frustrating knowing exactly what you want to do and no idea how to do it. Something that uses basic language and explains each line in detail to help a person remember how to do it later. Any suggestions would be great.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Galaxy Note SGH-i717 isn't getting recognized by all of my computers running either Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit or Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.This all started after my dog knocked off the phone with her Chuck Norris-like tail, and it sent the phone to download mode. After I got the phone off Download Mode, the phone sometimes doesn't charge, it keeps on thinking it's connected to a dock or a MHL device, and of course it won't get recognized by a computer. i planned on putting CyanogenMod on it, after I heard that the 4.2.2 rom went to a stabl status, Odin doesn't detect the phone is in Download Mode either.there is absolutely no thread for the SGH-i717.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a teacher and we have just bought 15 SG Tab 2 10.1 for my class running 4.1.1. It is a right pain downloading an app every time I want to use one and I am either having to ask the children to download the app to each tab individually or go into play store on PC where I can select each tab individually and send the app. Neither of these are ideal and I'm looking for a way of managing and sending an app to all the tabs in one go.
This seems to work with iOS as when I download an app or take a pic on my iphone it appears instantly on my ipad via iCloud so there must be a way of doing this but I'm a bit stuck.
I have a Galaxy S4 and every time I go to sync my photos there are a ton of random pictures that I have not taken or taken screen shots of. This is really annoying and there are pictures that I definitely do not want on my phone that are showing up. The odd thing is these pictures do not show up in my actual gallery on my phone, only when I sync it to my computer.

Google Search says "Unusual traffic from your computer network" and WON'T SEARCH. This happens even if I try type in the search or use voice command.
Here we go: Go to Home screen, get into "Settings", then "Applications", then "Manage Applications"In my list, I selected Gmail, then "Clear Data" (when this option is available) and "Uninstall updates" (may be only "Uninstall")I did the same thing for the following apps:Google Play BooksGoogle Play servicesGoogle Play StoreGoogle Search
Then I powered off the phone, waited 10 seconds and restarted. I let it reboot completely and then the 'update' notifications appeared on the Home screen. I updated each app carefully, and let it settle, then updated the next, until all were updated. Google 'Search' now works perfectly!!
I'm currently working on my first android application. I am using a tabbed layout for my application. I followed the tutorial for this on the dev guide and ran into a problem. The tutorial only used three tabs, but I have a need for more. As such, the tabs resize and bunch up. I was hoping someone could tell me how I can make them scroll, like in dolphin browser when using multiple tabs.

I restored all my apps on my tablet but all my Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies and all other game data is missing from the tablet.
First, is there a way to restore this game data to the tablet WITHOUT root?
Preferably, I would like to seamlessly sync the game data between the 2 devices. It would be great to play a level of any game on my phone and then pick up at the same spot on my tablet. Is this possible?

As a separate question, my users can change the Locale within my app itself, I then "redraw" the menus using onPrepareOptionsMenu (Menu menu) to refresh the strings within the menu with the new language choosen by the user. Is there an equivalent for TABS (I have local strings within the Title of the TABS) or do I have to delete all the tabs and re-create them from scratch ?
We're in the process of writing an app that has 4 tabs: Map, People, Places, Events. The People, Places, and Events in the App show up as Icons on the map. By default the People, Places, and Events tabs each show a listview, custom rendered, displaying all the People, Places, and Events respectively.
Now, right now each of the tabs has as its content an Intent set to launch the corresponding activity. For instance, there is a MapTabActivity that extends MapActivity, a ShowPeopleListActivity that shows the people, and so on and so forth.
I see a lot of StackOverflow questions/answers saying that due to various limitations in the way the TabHost is setup, it's best NOT to use activities as the content of tabs. For instance, it's impossible to launch a new activity and have it take the place of the existing activity within a tab, whereas it's possible to switch out a View with a different view.
Now, I'm at a crossroads. We've (for better or worse) devoted a fair amount of time trying to get this app to work the way it's currently structured, with the Activities as the content of the tabs. When an icon corresponding to a Person, Place, or Event is clicked, it fires off a VIEW Intent on a URI corresponding to that object; this is picked up by an Activity that then shows the object. The same mechanism is at work both in the Map and in the individual lists. We really like the loose coupling this provides us; we just give a VIEW command and the URI to the person/place/event and it automatically brings us to the right activity. Granted, the activity that's launched covers up the tab view rather than appearing inside of that, but we were willing to live with this.
Here's an issue though: from the Show activity, we want to be able to go back to the map, centered at that person, place, or event. We can launch a new activity to show the map again, but now we have the map activity as the content of the tab, plus the show activity, plus the new map activity in the activity stack; given how resource intensive the map activity is, I'm guessing this is not the ideal way to go.
I guess my question is, is there a GOOD tutorial somewhere showing exactly how to do complex tasks with a TabHost? I've seen HelloTabWidget; I'm looking for something much more sophisticated than this. I'm worried that if we switch to the View based way of doing things, we'll have to do a LOT of housekeeping to intercept all the back events, try to switch out the views, etc., etc., as well as strongly coupling our program in a way we don't want.
I have an Tab Activity with 4 tabs. Each of tab is showing me the list view. Suppose i m on 4th tab and dragged the list view to the last position and after that i click on 3rd tab and again when i go to 4th tab it is not refreshing and showing me the last visible screen. Actually i want to show the list view again from 1st element. is tabs refresh automatically or we need to do it programmatic?

View 1 Replies View Relatedwell , finally made the switch and got an android phone , very happy with my galaxy s, apart from 1 major issue i can't get my phonebook/contacts to sync with my in car bluetooth system. I can make and receive calls faultlessly , but definately have to be able to access my contacts hands free. every time i try to re-pair it it offers an option to share contacts, but does not work once paired .Can anyone more technically savvy than myself offer any ideas / help , unless i can get this to work the phone will have to go back

But this does not happen, as I refresh the sync manually, it says it has synced but obviously the contacts list in my phone and Gmail at the web are totally irrelevant. For example I merged some contacts in Gmail contacts but this does not show up in the phone even though it shows to be syncing over the air. Maybe a simple issue to handle but I would appreciate the help very much as a new transfer to Android from Symbian...

The following message comes up on my phone regardless of which connection method I choose. "PC connection available only on idle screen. Close running applications". The only thing I have running that I know of is the "weather widget" which is part of beautiful widgets. Can I get a list of applications running on my phone somehow? Is there a way to turn the weather widget off? I am assumming that that is the problem. Anyone else out there have similar difficulties hooking up to Kiev or just your PC with the same kind of message?

In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.

I have downloaded the ThinkFree Mobile app so that I can open Excel and Word files, and have also downloaded the Dropbox app so that I can sync files to my phone from my computer. However, I have a few questions: 1) It doesn't look like my files are syncing to my phone with Dropbox once I make changes on my computer. 2) I am not able to edit files on my phone in either ThinkFree or Dropbox; shouldn't I be able to? and 3) How the heck do I get Outlook on my phone?.
