I have a samsung galaxy music duos . It had come with 4.0.4 - in network mode there were 3 options - GSM ONLY.CDMA ONLY & AUTO MODE.Now after updating to jelly bean it has got changed to At some places where 3g is available it still uses 2g and sometimes keeps switching between 2g and 3g . Is there something i can do to use 3G ONLY ie, CDMA ONLY network? Can apps like tasker do the job?

I have a galaxy s4 mini and since this morning it won't connect to the network (I am with three - they have checked there are not signal problems in my area) AND I can't connect to my wireless (definitely working as I am using my iPad to write this.
So when I go to switch the wireless on, on the phone, it flicks itself back off again and doesn't even go green like it normally does.
I don't know if either of the following two things would have affected this or not:
1) my phone downloaded some Samsung update yesterday (via 3G, don't know if it completed though). Phone says its using android version 4.2.2 - is that relevant?
2) got my phone on to the wireless system lat night (because of MAC address filtering) but it was working fine last night.
Anyway I have tried all the standard things - switching my phone on and off, taking the SIM card out etc but still no network and no wireless.
While trying to sbf my Milestone X2 using RSD Lite v5.7 (I used an sbf file named "1FF-daytona-user-2.3.5-45.0.25-111011-release-keys-signed-ntelos-US.sbf") I encountered an error that said: Failed flashing process. phone[0000]: error switching phone to BP Pass through mode (0x70BE)

I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?
I have a Galaxy s4 that's stock 4.3 ROM but rooted and CWM. When I go into Network Mode (4g 3g or 2g) I only have WCDMA/GSM, WCDMA only and GSM only. How can I add the 4G LTE option to this menu? Do I need to flash another modem or what? I'd like to keep my current ROM in case I sell my phone and to avoid issues.

I did a factory restore, unrooted and put the stock rom on, nothing works.

The error only occurs when I switch from one mode to another. When I debug my app while switching to the other mode everything works fine until my program counter jumps out of the onCreate() function.

However, when I run the app in the simulator, it appears sideways and in portrait mode. How can I switch the emulator to landscape mode on a mac? It's running the 1.6 SDK.
Had the phone about 30 hours or so, been happily learning the ins and outs of my first android. Was streaming Pandora for a couple hours while working, then went to type a text and the full size landscape qwerty wouldn't come up only that aweful portrait mode cramped keyboard that makes me feel like I am typing on a blackberry now the browser won't switch to landscape either which is 'incredibly' annoying. Teeter seems to work fine, on level 19 and also "Bubble" an app for Leveling which switches to landscape in either direction.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNew to this phone and loving it. I live out in the boonies and no DSL/Cable, no other carriers have 3G, so been using the tethered phone (Yes, 2GB + $10/GB ... I know!). Phone likes to switch between EDGE/3G. Phone unrooted.
1) Any app to easily force 3G only? I know about the dial #*#*197328640#*#* -> Option 1 -> Option 8 -> Option 4 -> RAT to WCDMA setting but would prefer an app for when I take the phone out with me.
2) Ordered an external antenna / connector. Will I really have to drill a hole in my battery cover? There has to be somewhere I can order a battery cover from with the hole there already? I can't be the only person wanting to do this.
Sometimes when I have been in airplane mode and then turn it off, I have to reboot my phone to get any kind of signal. Is there a quick fix to this or is it a common problem amongst eris users?

But if I switch to landscape to potrait or potrait to landscape while downloading the photos from the server, I am getting NullPointerException, showing with androidRunTimeException.

I am currently trying to help my little brother with an issue he is having with his X 10 mini pro. The problem he is having is that it keeps switching into silent mode of it own accord at random times. I have tried updating the software but that has had no effect. I solved the issue of state not being saved. But another problem I faced is that none of the buttons on the screen work after the orientation has been changed. On button press, I get this warning in LogCat

The default Messaging app in Android (tested against version 2.1) appears to put the soft keyboard in a special mode, where the return key is replaced with an "emoticon key". When you press it you get a selection of emoticons to insert into your message.How do I instruct the soft keyboard to appear in this mode in my app?

If you uncheck that it does not stick through a reboot. Upon restarting your phone this box will be checked once again. Now for the interesting part. If I put the phone into flight mode, uncheck the automatic box and then change the time and/or date. The instant I re-check automatic the time is reset correctly. How is this possible? I thought that flight mode actually turned the radio off. If it does indeed turn the radio off then how is the phone able to instantly set the time to the correct value?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an android application that parses some HTML, downloads an image, and displays it. I'm using an AsyncTask to do the HTML parsing and image downloading, but that shouldn't be relevant. I never have a problem when I'm on WiFi on my phone, when I'm using the Eclipse debugger on my phone, or when I'm using the emulator. When I have my phone on the cell network (even with pretty good reception), the image sometimes fails to display. I'm having a hard time figuring out what is wrong, since the problem cannot be reproduced in the debugger. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

My question, why can i only use EDGE?! no 3G.when i go to settings the network mode selection cannot be selected.what gives? should i debrand my phone? or root? will it make a difference? or is there a hardware issue here?
there are those of us, who due to whatever reason (helmet cams, preference for posture, etc) want to record videos in portrait mode.
What happens (on my sgs2) is that the video records just fine in whatever resolution I pick... but it records it 90 degrees rotated to the right.
The solution that is usually offered is that "you can rotate it after!" yes... but then you have to CROP part of the image and lower the resolution. 1920 x 1080 recordings end up having to be cropped so that half of the view is cut out , or even more if you are maintaining a real aspect ratio.
The questions about "why not just hold it sideways", are just as pointless as the statement by steve jobs telling iphone4 users that they were holding their phones wrong.
is this something that can be remedied ? or has google decided that people should only record videos when their phones are in landscape mode?
i understand that we cant see landscape resolution in portrait mode; but can't we just have a viewport into the camera, but record in properly oriented landscape mode? so that playback on a computer will show the full resolution, even though we will only see part of it on the phone..
dialer in kitkat is always in landscape mode when call is ongoing....how can we set it in portrait mode
