I have got a problem using google now.
I'm disabling the "Show last search" in settings -> privacy from google now, but after a while the last searches reappear.
Is it a bug from jellytime or ist there a setting i've found jet in my google account.

I wanted to disable the googlenow / google search swipe up launch from the bottom bar.
The reason - to use swipepad for another gesture.
I have seen apps in the market that disable the launch of the google app, but the ring still shows up and cannot be used for another app.
I have disabled Auto-Add Shortcuts in the Play Store settings but it seems to still keep adding them to my home screen every time I download an app. Have only noticed this behaviour since I started using 4.2.

But there is no wifi_display setting..

Just installed the new Google Search. But i dont have any options to turn on cards, like TV shows, local transport etc. Do these appear over time? I only have 4 things in "Everything else" but i have seen people have like 20+
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to relay my issues that occurred with Startup Auditor. I use a Moto Droid 2.0.1.
First issue: I disabled Google Talk Startup as non of my friends have an Android device. This caused an issue with the Market. none of my apps would download the updates and I could not Download new apps. The Market is somehow connected to Google Talk. After enabling Talk and logging back in my apps started downloading.
Second issue: I disabled the stock messaging app because I am using Handcent SMS. This caused my text messages to delete themselves. When I opened my messaging treads all that was shown was my side of the conversation. After re enabling the stock Messaging app my messages started downloading and showing up in the treads. Handcent must use some of the same things that the stock app uses and Startup Editor was killing.
I want to add the search function in my application just as the example given in ApiDemos. But I can't find out how the example add the search bar in the top of the view. Could anyone tell me how to add a search bar to my application by some code?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that some users have not found my app's preferences sub menu, so I want to show that sub menu when the user first-time-ever starts the app.
Since onCreateOptionsMenu() would not have been called yet, how can I programmatically show such a sub menu?
BTW: openOptionsMenu() is not what I want because I want to open a sub menu. I suppose its part of the solution though. However, I get an exception when I call it:

I'm showing an input box using AlertDialog. The EditText inside the dialog itself is automatically focused when I call AlertDialog.show(), but the soft keyboard is not automatically shown. How do I make the soft keyboard automatically show when the dialog is shown? (and there is no physical/hardware keyboard). Similar to how when I press the Search button to invoke the global search, the soft keyboard is automatically shown.

As it is now, when I get a text or email it just makes a faint sound and the screen doesn't even light up. Is there a setting or app I can use to have my texts automatically preview on the screen?

Everything works fine except that all google search results post UK based urls, rather than US and local search results. I have Google settings to remember my location but I cannot figure out to stop this from happening. It happens using the google search button or when using a bookmarked google web page.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI Just installed the Dolphin browser instead of Steel as I was using before. So uninstalled Steel, but have a little problem now. When I press the search button on my home screen and search for anything, it opens the default browser and searches, and not Dolphin. How do I change this? Thought it would ask for which app it needed to execute the order with, as it did at other places it would go online, but not here. Has been in the manage applications and delete the default browser to be default, and inside settings in the dolphin browser and the check it to be default, but it does not work.

When I search on the market for a specific application, say "shazam", I get a message;
Suggestion
- Make sure all words are spelled correctly
- Try other keywords
- Try less specific keywords
However in the top bar it says
"1 result for Shazam"
But the result isn't showed. I have this problem with up to 9 search results.
I'm using a HTC Hero. Any suggestions on this one?
After using home++, when i hit the arrow to bring up all my apps, the only app that show is "settings" . i can get to my other apps that are shown on a home screen, but the ONLY app showing on the pull down screen is settings! i shut down, removed battery, and restarted twice, but still no luck.
I know a lot of others use home++, so is there something in the settings that went wrong, or what??! help! i love the home++.. when it works!
I use the stock search app to search and launch the app installed on phone. but the search app will append the web search suggestion above the app search result, it's annoying , how can i turn off or disable the web search suggestion?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm going to ask a shot version of my question first because, as I was typing out my thorough explanation below, I realized that I had seen a setting that I believe fixes my problem but I cannot remember where it is or how to get to it. In short, the problem I am having is that Non-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are not showing in the Moment calendar app. There was a Settings Page not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu that gave you the option of choosing to show events "before" a certain date and to show events "After" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively creating a date range.
Non-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but Non-recurring one-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do not show. Does Anyone know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it?? If not, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what I am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again! (longer explanation/description follows below): We have a Moment and an EVO and we are both new to Android but it appears I am only having the problem with our Moment. Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc. I did some troubleshooting of the problem and this is what I have figure out here goes:
It appears that the calendar on the Moment is only showing recurring events birthdays, anniversaries anything where the event is set to recur some time in the future. The non-recurring events a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app! I prefaced my issue with being comfortable and familiar with the Google calendar operation because I am certain that the events are in the Google Calendar online. If I change the one-time event to a yearly recurring event and force the phone to sync then WHAM BAM the now recurring event shows in the Moment calendar app. Remove the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and disappears again! The other odd thing is that "old" Non-recurring events that have already passed do seem to continue to show on the Moment calendar app for about a month. In other words, stuff back to about a month from today (today 7/20) DOES SHOW even if non-recurring but anything older than a month does not show.
Now I can Understand why if you had a doctor's appointment on May 20, 2010, that that even should NOT appear on either your Google Calendar online OR your Moment calendar app for May 20, **2011** because that doesn't make sense. However, it DOES make sense and is important to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask,"what day was that appointment with so-and-so company?" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went. The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events, they are all visible online back yearsand years. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?
There are a no. of apps out there for finding lost devices, but they would all prove useless if the thief disables the GPS.
So, is there any way to prevent GPS from being disabled?
After an OTA upgrade to 4.0.4 on my Nexus S i started getting shocking battery drain from Exchange Services regardless of sync settings on my corporat email account.
To try and stop it i disabled Exchange Services but I cant see where to start it again? I have no Exchange Services app listed any more and cant even sync Outlook mail manually.
I've rebooted the phone and removed/readded the account but I just get a "cant connect to server" error.
I seem to be getting a ton of "You Tube recommends..." videos in my Android YouTube app lately.
And it's really annoying because the recommendations are so bad, always stuff I'd already watched months ago. Seems Google's recommendations should be more intelligent.Anyway to disable it or any quality third party YouTube apps?

Anytime I try and open app it says ' the operating system of this device has been modified. Due to credit card security measures this app has been disabled' or a message very similar to this. I know some people had similar issue with barclaycard pingit but the fix for that doesn't work in this case. Ie install superSU, uninstall superuser, install hide my root. Hide my root always fails to hide su binary and says there is no su app to hide.

question is, why disable useful things like this? they did it a while back with allowing apps like tasker access to turn on gps (secure settings). It's annoying to get new features in new versions of android but have other parts taken away.
When on my tablet install no frills cpu control or antutu cpu master pro i have no option to select io scheduler when on my phone i am able to do this and playing with this for my phone to be significantly smoother. Is there any workaround or kernel parch or something ? Yeah i know about custom roms, i am running one on phone (jellyblast) but there is coming problem that i am using very uncommon tablet (emgeton consul 3) .

What I did wrong was that instead of just erasing cache, data, etc.I erased the whole rom I had pre-installed. So I flashed the custom rom, but it would just boot loop. So I thought because I had erased the original rom, the root was disabled. So I tried to restore my phone with the stock rom, but it only erased cwm recovery and I cant access my phone other than the stock recovery mode. I cant even access the sd card with the stock recovery. I can only access the usb storage.

Is there a way to disable this? I'm running the latest cyanogen (i9300) and I can't find a way to disable it. It just takes space and I don't even use it.
