General :: Samsung Galaxy Y - Making Flashable Icon Packs?
Dec 11, 2012
My device is Samsung Galaxy Y. Already i am trying to make my flashable icon pack. I use guide mrallyluz (http:url...). I have icons, custom icon pack, updater script, but i don't know how can i add more icons. I mean, for example, in folder unpack i have folders browser.apk, settings.apk, calendar.apk with custom icons inside these folders, and i want to add more icons to change. So, should i take names apps from system/app and make folder with this name inside res/drawable-ldpi?
Where can i find icon files? With RootExplorer i searched everywhere and no results... :3
Just i want to create more folders in flashicon.zip/unpack because i want to change icons of all apps in my phone

I'm planning on using the UpdatezipCreator from this thread http[URL].... to build an update script for some APK updates I want to package up. It appears this app has the ability to build a update-binary file for you.
I have APK files in both the system/app and data/app that I want to be copied to my phone.
First thing, can I have multiple destinations for the files in the script? I haven't found any examples with two destinations and there doesn't seem to be a spot to configure the source which makes me think it just takes everything in the zip and puts it in the folder you specifiy in the package_extract_dir function and that adding a second "package_extract_dir" function would confuse it.
The second question is I keep running across scripts that us busybox instead of the built in commands. Why would you need to/want to do that?This is what I would think would work for my script:
Code:
ui_print("Preparing to update");
ui_print("Copying files..");
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");[CODE].....

I have a specific way I want to go about it. It will be video oriented and I need all the Droid default icons in png format for as many droid versions as possible. Im refering to basic app icons like those used for alarm, clock, internet, calendar, music, etc. I also need the samsung specific app icons in PNG format. I've gone through playstore and copied the PNGs for their app Icons. Its that manufacture default Icons and Samsung Icons that I can't find like "Polarise", "S Voice", "voice recorder"and the samsung specific "Music" App. a cache or archive of these types of Icons, or know where to get them?

There are a number of different icon packs in the Market which i like or have been using however none seem to contain anywhere near the right amount of icons which i need.Now, flame me if you will but i really like the iphoney style icons ie the ones in a square shape which are very colorful.Ive downloaded a number off of the market but to date all i have been happy with is tenuis icon pack, matte icons and serenade icons pack.These dont contain exactly what i want though and have too much of what i dont want.I see alot of people get icons off of there desktop somehow.How do i do this?I have never plugged my desire into my computer so am a complete newbie to doing things that way.I really want some decent icons that can really show what my apps are without text and id like too browse through some online but i dont know where to start.

I'm currently using the Ibox icons from the Market, but they look a little iPhone-esq to me, i'm looking for something new & unique.
Anyone have any links to icon packs that would be suitable?
I tried a pack from here: Royalty Free Icons & Clipart Stock Images ~ Icons Etc. but they all seemed small when on the phone.

I have a firmware for my galaxy ace named S5830XWKTM_S5830OXXKT3_S5830XWKT7_HOME.tar.md5 and I wanted to edit the baseband so I could make it work in my S5830L by just changing "amss" file...
But I can't change it if they are in .md5 and if I change the file to .zip and transfer amss, I can't change it back to .md5
How can I turn S5830XWKTM_S5830OXXKT3_S5830XWKT7_HOME.tar.zip into S5830XWKTM_S5830OXXKT3_S5830XWKT7_HOME.tar.md5

I did some searching and could not find what I'm looking for. I've also searched my phone, with Astro File Manager, for the .png files but can not find them. I want to be able to view the icons in Photo or Gallery when selecting them with Better Cut so I can use them on the dock of my unroot DInc.

I am using folder organizer which I love, but the stock icons it comes with leave much to be desired.I have been through the market and can't find any decent high resolution icon packs. I would even be happy with just stock android icons. Is there a way to use just the icons from themes?

On my Samsung Galaxy S3, a peculiar icon has appeared in the navigation bar (see the top-left corner in the image below):
It seemed to have appeared at about the time I put in my SD card, but removing my SD card (and restarting) has not shooed the icon away. Furthermore, the icon seems to prevent any other icons being shown (i.e. I am forced to pull down the bar when checking for new notifications).
There is no explanation for the icon in the notification window, and clearing the notifications does nothing.
I tried using Google Goggles on a cropped screenshot of the icon but no images were returned. what the icon represents and how it may be removed?

today a strange icon started to show up in the notification area. It has no notification attached to it, restarting the device doesn't make it go away and neither am I aware of any app installed that could have caused this. Due to the resemblance the icon bears to the ICS logo, I thought it might be some system-based event (something like an android anniversary date or whatnot), yet it persisted through GMT midnight, which makes it seems less likely then it did when I found out. I tried an image-based search for any images and screenshots containing the said icon, but came out empty-handed. As Henzman said, it's the new icon of the Power Toggles app.

Ive been trying the snesoid app on my galaxy and ive found that using the trackball option is the easiest way to play. But its really annoying that you keep running, on the galaxy we got a real d-pad so is there any way of making your character only run when you press left or right? and not KEEP running.

My government gave us galaxy (10.1) tablets instead of books. But unfortunately this tablets's OS is not a normal android 3.2; It has been customized and we can't access many applications or other thinks. So I've decided to make a new custom rom for this tablets to offer in a competition of project. I have 2,5 months for this competition and I should make this rom. I've downloaded the android source (I want to work on 4.1jb) It is 4.2gb on my ubuntu 12.04 and I don't understand anything till see your answer on stackoverflow. I read and have some knowledge about system but It is not enough.. I know c# lang and I know general coding for 4 years.
I should edit the launcher (I said desktop but I don't know how calls It..). It has programs and widgets tabs and I want to put a new tab here. And anyone cannot see programs and widgets tab without any permission. This permission will give students's tablets by teacher ('s tablet). So, students can't play anything in the lesson but when it is over, stundents can play anything what they want.. Teacher will give the permission before leaving class..
This is what I want to do.. Briefly, I want to make a custom rom but directly using android source codes.Because I think I can't make this rom with using kitchen or just editing .apk files..

I have a Samsung Galaxy S, international version, not SIM-locked, not rooted, running Android 2.1-update1. Today I suddenly noticed that my Contacts icon has disappeared from the bottom bar (so I'm not talking about any widgets or shortcuts which the user can manipulate, it's the one which is supposed to sit between the Phone and Messaging icons). The contact data hasn't gone anywhere, I can access contacts through the Phone app, but the missing Contacts icon still bothers me.
I have updated a bunch of apps recently - all of which I have used for a long time before without any problems, such as: Advanced Task Cleaner Pro, Smart Keyboard, Layar, Google Maps, KeePassDroid, Retro Camera and maybe something else too. Today I also erased the trial version of the dictionary app SlovoEd Deluxe and installed the paid version.
Now, should I try to erase the (free) apps one by one to see if that solves the problem, or do I have to go for a hard reset/return to factory settings straight away?
