I recently moved and had the opportunity to view my TV-channels on my phone. However it is required to have a device who is not rooted, and I don't really want to unroot just to view tv on my phone.
Any small program, script etc. which can tell the app that the phone is unrooted, even though it is rooted? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, running stock unlocked and unrooted JB yakju 4.2.2.

I have a Nexus 7 running 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with an unlocked boot loader and rooted. Since the 4.3 versions are now officially out, I was wondering how I would update. Is there any special process? Can I just use the normal OTA update service built-in? Will doing that lose my root and unlock? If possible, I'd prefer the most risk-free method, as I don't want to mess up my Nexus.

I attempted to install cyanogenmod and it failed. At the restore center (you hold down both volume rockers and the power button), it shows the android robot dead with a red exclamation mark when I attempted to install from a zip file. Fortunately, my phone was able to boot up without issues.
Just now, I installed a root checker app and it says that my phone is not properly rooted. How to unroot? I can jailbreak my itouch with no issues but this is very complex for me.

Well, I'm about to root my Sony Ericsson Xperia Active, but the Build Number is 4.0.2.A.0.62 and I'm about to flash into 4.0.2.A.0.42 and root using Flashtool. So, I searched for some app in Google Play but only rooted phone seem to be able to backup App+Data. So, is there any way to backup App+Data on Unroot Android Device? Or maybe there are some method to root my phone without flash into 4.0.2.A.0.42?

I have root access on my Eris, and was tinkering around with a bit with removing some of the preinstalled APKs such as YouTube and stuff like that, just wondering how much I can delete and work to create my own system to a certain extent. I use a macbook pro and have been cheerfully browsing Nokia phones on it (and its predecessors) over bluetooth for years. But although my new unbranded Desire is recognized by the Mac as a bluetooth device, any attempt to browse it results in an error message about the absence of the necessary 'services'.

/system/bin/su (is this included in stock and replaced or just doesn't exist in stock systems?)
/system/app/Superuser.apk (it seems the Android OS has a "super user access" intent that this listens for -- so when apps try to access su this picks app it up?)
I rooted my DINC and have the wifi hotspot which I've used for free. I don't really care about 720p, so is there any reason for me to accept the OTA update? Does it improve performance in any way?

I downloaded Eternity Warriors 2, started playing, then when I decided to play online, I can't play PVP because my device is rooted. I've tried a bunch of apps that hide root, or temporarily unroot, and this game somehow can still see it. All I can find online is Glu Mobile is doing this cuz they think a rooted device is capable of hacking their game.....even though it's server sided. I installed Jbed successfully and rebooted prior to starting it. I keep getting the following error.
Unfortunately, java has stopped.
How do I resolve this issue? What java app can I download and from where to test it? I assume that the app must me a jar file to test it?
I'm asking this because HBO Nordic which recently became available in Scandinavia won't allow me to use my rooted ASUS TF101 for streaming. The HBO Nordic app says "Service is not available on this device because it has been modified."
I'm thinking one of two options might work:
1. Revoke one or more permissions
2. Modify build.prop

I have several android tablets, all but one (at this moment) are rooted. I am not interested in putting a custom rom on them at the moment (mainly because not all functions -like camera- are working on all devices) but I would like the ability to do a Nandroid backup that seems to be only available with custom roms. On one device I can't unlock the bootloader (Azpen A701), don't know about the unrooted one at this time (brand new Hisense Sero 7 pro).

I already have rooted it (SU installed) and bootloader unlocked. Fastboot reports the correct version "5".
However, when I try to install TWRP, it gives the following error:

Why does TWRP think it's not rooted? I have setup SU to grant every root request too!
Another issue - when I try to enter recovery with stock image, my phone gets stuck on boot with Sony logo and I have to remove battery to shut it down. Why wouldn't stock recovery work?

What I want to do is to setup a media streaming from my PC to any of my devices. I don't even want my computer to re-encode the media, just stream it as-is, given that you can play almost any format on android these days.
Is it possible? If so, what do I need? can I use VLC, or do I have to setup something more serious?
i recently discover that i couldn't install google play services on my phone.when i try to install them it loads up to the end and when it says "Installing..." the following message appears:
