View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm in Japan so only 3G will work here, I intend to have 2x 3G sims in the phone, one local sim and one sim I will only switch to as I will be roaming it for SMS for one time passwords etc.,
so sim1/sim2 on/off is fine. (I don't want to keep ejecting sims and loosing one.)
I noticed a lot of these dual sim phones are only 3G in slot1 but not slot2 i.e. "Samsung Grand Duos GT-I9082". HTC/Sony/LG dual sim phones.
I know "Samsung Core Duos GT-I8260" can select 3G in slot 1/2
So how about the "Samsung Wins/Grand Quattro GT- I8552"?
I've been trying to root my phone using Odin then my cable got disconnected. Now when I try to start up the phone it starts with CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.5. I downloaded stock rom for my region and tried to install it from the SD card but it says "Installation Aborted". I tried formatting the SD card but didn't work.

I have recently purchased two HDC Galaxy S4 EX phones which have the MTK6589T 1.5GHz CPU and 2GB RAM/32GB ROM.I have been trying to get a CWM Recovery installed on it as well as rooting it but so far I have had no luck at all.
Firstly, I tried using MTK Droid Tools to modify a dump of my ROM and uploaded the recovery back to the phone using this procedure: URL....I did this by dumping the ROM off phone 1 (which I was avoiding starting up until I had a stock ROM backup) while I was playing around with phone 2. Phone 2 was booting into recovery mode by holding VolumeUp + Power and booting into a chinese factory mode by holding VolumeDown + Power. The recovery mode was very basic and did not have CWM.
I dumped the ROM from phone 1 with SP tools, created a modified recovery image with MTK Droid Tools and downloaded that to phone 2. I could not load either recovery mode or factory mode any more. No matter what key combination I tried the phone would just boot normally. I flashed back the unmodified recovery image and had the exact same problem. It wasn't until some time later I tried booting phone 1 and found it did not boot into recovery mode at all either . Unfortunately I only dumped the ROM from phone 1 and not phone 2 so I don't have a copy of the recovery image that seemed to boot ok on phone 2
So anyway, I have tried flashing a whole heap of recovery images from all sorts of HDC S4 sources but I have never been able to boot into any form of recovery mode with any of them. They ALWAYS just boot normally using either volume up or volume down. I'm not sure if that is because all of the images are for the 1.2GHz CPU instead of the 1.5GHz CPU.
The second problem is that I cannot root this phone at all.I have tried the motochopper exploit which seems to be the only root option I have found for these phones (there are lots of options but they all appear to be the same tool). When I run that root tool it copies the pwn, su and busybox to the phone fine but whenever it runs the pwn script it just comes up saying "Failure" without any explanation why.The same thing happens when I try to use the root option with MTK Droid Tools. So I'm at quite a loss right now, I can't get a CWM recovery image working and I can't get root....
I've tried flashing some of the HDC S4 ROMs but so far none of them have booted (I'm guessing because it is the MTK6589T model?).The only option I have had is to flash back my original ROM dump.
Is there any way to alter a recovery image to change the boot keys it uses? Are the boot keys even defined in the recovery image? is it maybe something else like the preloader or boot image I should be trying to change?I can't wait to start customizing my own ROM for this phone...
just I want to know is it possible to flash recovery IMG without root access ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedNot so long ago I flashed a custom rooted ROM. After this I realized that I forgot to save some important app configs (im history, notes). As far as I know, Android uses ext4 filesystem on its root partition. Is there a way to perform undelete or any other method to try to recover deleted files? Searching the forums gives some results of repairing data on internal storage, but I guess the user data space is meant, not the root. My device is Huawei U8850 Vision, Android version 4.1.2.

How I can root it and flash cwm recovery ...
So I followed the tutorial found here: Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G: How to root on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread and install ClockworkMod Recovery
I did option #1 and set up my device, and the program said the phone was set up. Now every time I turn my phone on a boot screen comes up with a yellow triangle with a yellow ! in the middle.
I can't go the the special boot (where you hold up, down, and power) and I can't do anything at all.
How can I reset my phone?
how rooting works. I read that stock recovery doesn't let us flash packages not signed by the manufacturer, and that's the reason for custom recoveries (they don't check). So my question is how do we get recovery to flash the root package in the first place? Or is it the fact that I have a Samsung with an unlocked boot loader?

View 9 Replies View RelatedOk, I just bought an HTC Acquire with Android Version 2.3.4 HTC Sense 3.0 Software number 1.26.557.9 Kernel 2.6.35.10
When I reboot it into recovery mode it says:

I have tried to root this phone using Gingerbreak, Revolutionary, Z4root, and a few others. When I search on Google or the XDA website I can't find absolutely anything about an HTC Acquire. It's like the internet thinks the phone doesn't exist? I recently upgraded to it from my HTC Desire CDMA Bravo-c that I had rooted, flashed a custom rom, custom kernel, custom radio, the works.
My phone wont boot into android because of a bad setting I made in pimp my rom, it only boots into recovery now. So what I need to do is sort files modified by a certain date and time (last night) and restore them with originals hoepfully to get my phone to boot back up.
So how do I navigate and search my root directory through 4ext recovery or bootloader, because those are my only options?
Is there a way to mount these directories and browse them through windows as if it were an actual folder so I can use windows 7's build in search features as well? I have android commander installed and can use that if need be.
how to exactly approach this without installing my rom back over again.
I got a rooted device installed clockworkmod recovery. just wondering if I do a factory reset in clockworkmod recovery will i loose root? Im using super su. If i do a factory reset from the phone when it's on super su and root still remain. Thats what i want.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSamsung galaxy s3. used odin and cf autoroot.tar. MANY PASS and sucess but no superuser and no root access. now when i try to enter recovery mode it loads right into cf auto root. unable to enter recovery.
Can still access download mode. flashed cwm recovery ( recovery.tar.md5 ) and tried clearing cache and fatory resetting.
Can't mount and open /cache/recovery/log and last_log and command. format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p17. error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure.
Are the any disadvantages to using unrevoked to root and then their new recovery program, versus the more extensive process, like using the new "simple root" app that roots/nand/rom

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Samsung GT-P6800, that is 7.7 tab, actually, some days ago, it has developed the bootloop problem, I decided to load custom recovery and take the backup of the data, because I can't able to lose the data as the data is very much important that is stored on the tab, but when I load the Odin V3.70 & V1.85 and in the PDA section I load the .tar file of TWRP 2.6.3.0 recovery, and flash then I got the success & pass message in the Odin, but when I restart the tab in the recovery mode, I again go in to the Default stock recovery that is e3 Android System Recovery, I don't know why this is happening, as I have tried many versions of Odin as well as twrp and cwm recovery, but whenever I go in the recovery mode, I found the stock recovery loading(e3).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need a stock recovery for Metro PCS Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGH-T999N)...I installed clockworkmod recovery onto my phone and didn't realize It wasn't going to be easy to remove it im trying to revert back so I can receive ota updates on my phone. Next month I heard talk about samsung releasing the kit kat update 4.4 to this phone correct. I would love to revert back so I can receive it inless you know of other ways of getting it other than installing custom roms....witch im not comfortable doing....I already messed up my phone in the process of rooting doing the ad block app....which then when I uninstalled it. I couldn't connect to the google servers.....so I had to go back and edit the host file and got it working finally but now I just want to remove this recovery..I want to update my rom I know people say do complete wipe and install the stock rom and that should remove it but I'm iffy on the subject because I don't want to brick my device if it doesn't agree with something. I'm not all that new to rooting I had a coolpad quattro which I rooted in the past phone btw don't ever buy it. As well as my first galaxy 1 from verizon and a galaxy aspire. but im having problems trying to understand and avoid bricking my device because I haven't even finished paying it off and it's 400 dollar device plus interest...

View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently I have tried to root my Samsung Galaxy 3 7.0 (SM-T210R) WiFi edition. After unsuccessfully attempting to install a custom rom, I believe I have accidentally deleted the stock rom for the device..So now, whenever I turn the device on, it automatically brings me to CWM recovery. I have tried to install a different rom onto the device unsucessfully, giving me an error saying "format() expects 5 args, got 4" It also says (Status 7). I have also tried to connect my device to my computer and hook it up to Odin, but Odin does not recognize the device.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am pretty sure I have root, as if I open emulator and SU It goes $ to #. I am running build "2.19.605.1 CL123435 test_keys" and everything seems stable. It's funny that I'm running 2.1 because I never flashed the ROM, I couldn't get past recovery partition set-up.
When I try to press power+up volume all I get is the yellow triangle exclamation point with the android cartoon. This is where I stopped on my first attempt. When I powered the phone back up, it's running 2.1.
Can I re-download the recovery partition .zips and re-flash the root ROM to start all over? I'm thinking my DL's of some of the recovery images may have been corrupted. I'm thinking since I have root, re-flashing the root ROM shouldn't hurt anything right?
Kinda green here, it took me a long time to realize why there a bunch of different files with the same name, but not the same contents (pmb). I'm assuming that's the only filename that the boot loader will recognize.
