General :: Phone Vocalizes All Keystrokes?

Mar 19, 2014

I have an LG Optimus G Pro. Suddenly it started saying letters out loud as I type them, even when my phone is on silent. How do I make it stop? Its not the talk back feature as that is turned off and its only the keystrokes that are being said.

General :: Being Able To Map Keystrokes To Analog Stick?

Sep 25, 2013

Is there anyway I can make my Right Thumbstick on my controller act like it's pressing letters, rather then a proper analog stick? (i.e. if I move the Right Thumbstick around in a circle, then I want to see letters come up, as if I were typing them.)

I've been trying to use USB/BT Joystick Center for this, but I'm having a little trouble. When I bring up the edit mode, while in the DS emulator the app still treats the right thumbstick as a proper analog stick, even though I re-mapped the right stick in the main app to letters (R stick UP-M, R stick RIGHT- N, R stick - DOWN O, R stick - LEFT P)

Are there any apps that will allow me to map keystrokes to a analog stick, and be able to emulate virtual on screen controls for games, and emulators?

General :: Software Limitation On Rapid Keystrokes?

Jan 11, 2013

Does Android limit the rate of keystrokes when typing?

I have a custom bluetooth keyboard that can send entire sentences at once. On iOS, the text appears pretty much instantaneously. On Android, when I send the sentence it kinds of scrolls through and types it out, taking about a second to actually type out the entire sentence.

Basically instead of typing out the entire sentence at once, the text is entered one letter at a time with a little delay in between.

Is there a way to disable this keystroke limit? I would like to be able to type entire sentences quickly.

Android :: How To Silence Keystrokes On Swype?

Jul 14, 2010

I'm really loving the Swype beta on my HTC EVO, but when I'm typing it can be loud and annoying, especially since I can set the stock keyboard to silent. The only way I can quiet Swype is by setting my phone's ringer volume to Vibrate or Silence. Is there a menu within Swype that will let me silence the keystrokes?

Android :: KeyListener Eating My Keystrokes

Jan 28, 2009

I'm trying to setup a KeyListener on an EditText widget. My code is as follows: Where mMsgToSend is my EditText widget. The problem is that whenever I implement this code, everything stops showing up in my EditText widget. Anything I type does not show up in the widget. When I set a break point in my code everything is executing as I would expect it to. If I do not have the code in place, everything shows up in the widget as I type. My understanding is that if you want everything to be handled normally then you return a "false" from the event handlers otherwise you return a "true".

Android :: How To Send Keystrokes To Laptop Over Wifi?

Apr 9, 2010

How can I best implement a system for send keystrokes/commands via an iPhone and/or Droid to a desktop or laptop computer via WiFi or bluetooth? There are apps for VLC, Keynote and other applications that do this, so I know it's possible but don't know what technology base to use. The implementation is probably different on Windows and OS X, but if they could be similar that'd be a big win. If VNC-type technology is used, that'd be fine but I only need to send key commands and mouse clicks—I don't need to be able to navigate the screen space.

HTC Incredible : Landscape Keyboard Lag Misses About 30% Of Keystrokes

May 16, 2010

When typing really fast in Landscape mode on my HTC Incredible I am noticing that the default HTC Incredible keyboard misses about 30% of my keystrokes. This is annoying, especially since I type faster in landscape than in portrait, yet the faster I type, the more keystrokes get missed.

Missed keystrokes seems to rarely occur, if ever, in portrait mode even if I type relatively fast.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it due to graphic-lag, lack of multi-touch typing or some setting?

I've tried Shapewriter, SwipeIT, Swype, Better Keyboard, and Smart Keyboard and have found either their layout sucks and/or they miss significantly more keystrokes than TouchInput does in Landscape.

Samsung Captivate :: Dialing A Contact Using Fewer Keystrokes

Oct 3, 2010

It might sound lazy, but I am looking for a better/faster way (other than voice, which only works in quiet areas) to dial someone in my contacts. I am coming from BlackBerry, where I used to tap out the first few letters in the first OR last name and it would quickly narrow to the desired contact. Then click 'send. Each of these can take several or many "keystrokes." Also, for some reason if I type several keystrokes of a first or last name, it only recognizes a name if that contact happens to be indexed according to that part of name. For example, if John Doe is indexed as Doe, John, then typing out J-O-H...does not bring up John Doe. But for some crazy reason the indexing for my contacts got screwed up so half of them are sorted by first name and the other half by last name (so changing the Options settings doesn't get them all indexed correctly). Also because there are so many choices (using Contacts, using the dialer, using the search box on the homescreen, etc.) there isn't just one clear best way.

General :: Making / Answering Phone Calls From Computer Routed Through Android Phone?

Dec 31, 2013

i'm looking for a way to make phonecalls with my computer+Logitech G230, through my android device (Jiayu G4 Advanced)

The Remotecall app in Playstore still requires me to pick up my phone in order to actually hear something..
its got all the other features i'd like to use: answer calls from my PC, make calls from pc (from , for example, the outlook contactlist), call Log capability; but i have to pick up my phone when i probably can just hear it through my headphone (connected to PC)

I think i should be looking for some sort of voip server on my phone and let my computer act as voip client, but i'm not entirely sure about that.

I don't need to hear whistles or "you've got mail" coming through my calls.

It's most bothersome for the fact that I have a bluetooth handshake to my home handset and all the phone audio pushes through.

Is there a setting that turns off phone audio when in phone calls and then turns it back on after you hang up?

General :: Remove Only Phone Call Feature From Phone?

Aug 3, 2012

Is is possible to remove the call feature from a phone, leave the MMS/SMS and Data modes? Basically I have a couple of older gen phones which are pretty crap for anything but media purposes, I use them whilst training or at an OP in Afghan. I just throw my headphones on if im running, as if I drop them.. I dont mind much.

Id like it if I could whack my sim in one, but remove the call function for OPSEC purposes. Still remain useful for SMS and Data(internet) usage whilst im away or even home. I've done this with certain devices (Wildfire, this was only used for Beats and Net, I removed the SMS and call function)

Something like: Old Phone(No internet/service) makes a WiFi AP that Another Phone can connect to and view the video the Old Phone is streaming.

HTC EVO 4G :: USB & General Phone Error

Jun 27, 2010

So my problem is that sometime mounting the SD card does not work.I have the stock mSD card and have never removed it. My problem is that sometimes when I "mount" the card to the computer it doesn't actually mount and I can't access it from windows(I use XP), additionally when I try to play a music file from the phone's player it will play while the card is "mounted". To me, this says that the issue is with the phone not properly mounting because I know when the card is mounted you can't access files on the mSD card. Anyone have this problem and fixed it? My only known fix is to power on and off the phone which leads me to my next issue. The phone will power off regularly but will not power back on unless I remove the battery and put it back in. This is a PITA as I have a not so easily removed case.My phone is NOT rooted and I haven't tampered with any custom ROMs or anything like that.

I dont have memos syncing checked in any of my accounts! I think it has something to do with SmartWitch cause these are memos from my old iphone (even memos I deleted from my iphone keep syncing back onto the galaxy). Can't find where to switch it off or even turn down the volume, which is really loud, very annoying as it does it even when the phone is on mute. Searched the settings, no luck. I'm going to be travelling a lot on planes and trains in the next few weeks and I really don't want people listening to what I type. General :: Phone-to-PC Connection App

Big hands + small phone = need for a GOOD phone-to-PC connection app.

Phone is a Medion E4002 (bought from Aldi) running Android 4.1.1. Does everything I want and great value for money.

I've tried a few apps but so far not found anything that easily allows me to do all my phone editing on the PC screen - mainly extensive contacts editing, but also file transfer etc. Texting is a big one too, as I need to frequently send text messages to groups.

I want an app that loads when I want to use it, not when it thinks it's needed - some are really annoying in this respect.

I sit at my desk all day with phone beside me so connection will always be via USB cable. Don't care about other connection types (Bluetooth, etc).
