However upon reviewing the permissions, i've gotten a bit cautious. It has quite a few permissions which seem shady, any i'm aware that as it locks any app you choose it may need to access certain permissions, without these permissions it may not be able to lock a specific app but some of the permissions seem off.It does have between 1 - 5 million downloads, and every review, including my personal opinion, seems to be positive but the permissions seem odd.
I've emailed the dev to see what he says, but i'd like some second opinions
Is there a way to have a phone lock on the Desire, in the way it is used on "normal" phones? What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

I am having major battery draining issues with my phone, i have read about all the tips and tricks and trying to get to the bottom of it, but nothing seems to be working. I read that doing a factory reset might work for the situation. I just want to make sure that if i do that, that my phone will still remain unlocked to any carrier I want.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a Samsung Galaxy Ace for a year and a half and have never had any problems with it. It gets dropped once or twice a week, but besides that it stays pretty safe. Last night I went to restart my phone and when I turned it back on it showed its logos like it always does before bringing me to my lock screen but this time it got stuck at the Samsung logo. It pulsed white and blue for around 30 seconds, then goes through all the logos again and it does this on loop. I've tried removing the battery and trying it, removing the SD and SIM cards and trying it, and no luck.

However, when I finish the phone call or take the phone away from my ear... I get the lock screen. Why? It's hard enough to remember and I only wish to enter it when I power on the phone. However it seems I have to enter it every time the phone locks itself. I don't want that, it's a heck of inconvenience. I just want swipe to unlock, not no pin or no pattern and only want to enter the big as password when the phone turns on. View 1 Replies View Related I've tried so many app's over the last couple of days that claim to stop the screen from locking but they have all just bypassed the lock screen... Well, they've tried to anyway. These kind of work arounds don't actually stop my phone from locking in the first place though.
My phone is a W008+ iPhone clone with Android 2.3.3. When it's charging, the screen will time out and switch off; But it doesn't lock. So I can hit any key to bring the screen back on and as it wasn't locked in the first place, I'm taken straight back to where I was.
When not charging, I get the same behaviour for ~2 or 3 seconds... Any longer and it locks forcing me to use the power key and swipe the lock screen along with any other security measures I may have in place.What I'd like is to be able to set the 'lock' timeout in the way that I can set the 'screen' timeout.How far will I have to go to get this functionality?
Is there a setting I've missed? I'm very new to Android so there's lots I don't know yet.
Are there any app's that can really do this? Maybe this would need a root app?

I'm on a family plan with my wife and 13yr old son. We purchased a Galaxy S4 for our son as a Birthday present in October. However, as of recent his grades have taken a dive. We notice he eats, sleeps and breathes on the phone. He primarily uses it for surfing the net, instagram or youtube. We were thinking of grounding him and removing his phone but we need him to have his phone as a point of contact. However, is there anyway to stop his data usage. I realize there is a setting on the phone to disable data usage but it is fairly easy to re-enable it.
Is there anyway to lock or password protect the phones settings or data usage?
I tried googling but the results kept yielding information relative to the "lock screen" which isnt what im looking for.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis just started happening. The Dinc won't auto lock itself nor will it go into screen lock when I press the hold/power button. I set the screen lock time to 15 seconds and after 15 seconds the screen only dims but doesn't lock.
When I press the power button to awake the Dinc it pops up to home screen or which ever screen I slept it at. i tried uninstalling the apps I updated and downloaded but no luck

Installed ATK just to see what apps were running. Everything looked normal. I took of the reminder I had in my calendar and the phone is locking itself after screen timeout has expired and power key works. I put my reminder back onto my event and it is still locking.
Conclusion:
Dinc has a mind of its own and was probably amped up on Starbucks since I had some today for the first time since owning the Dinc
I want to do something kind of disruptive to the user experience so I want to do it only when the phone is locked. Is there a way to tell this?

The past several days, it started losing GPS signal lock, and today can't get a lock after half an hour with clear sky above. I have "GPS Status" app, and it shows that it is receiving signal from between 5 and 8 satellites, but none of them show as locked. Any ideas? I have already rebooted the phone, removed battery, etc. multiple times. I have turned off wifi and bluetooth with no effect.
