I' m clicking on a download link on a website for a file that is 200 MB. The file starts to download then says complete, but only 19.71 MB is downloaded. Is there an app or browser setting which may prevent or cap file downloads directly from a web page and NOT from a store app?

I am working on an android app. Where i need to parse some plist files from assets folder. I do understand how to use assets in android but now problem is that file sizes are more than 1MB and so android gives error Data Exceeds UNCOMPRESS_DATA_MAX (2183588 vs 1048576). how to access such larger files from assets? Also I cant reduce a file into small buffers because i am just sending it to "DocumentBuilder.parse(in)" as a whole so can not use buffer. The error is on line: Document doc = db.parse(in).
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm trying to transfer music files or whatever to my x10 mini pro via USB, files larger than 2.5Mb get completely hung up, crashing both my phone and my computer (this happens on my work desktop and my laptop at home, win7 and winXP). I have to disconnect the cable and take out the battery and restart my phone in order to fix it. Smaller files go quickly and without issue, which leads me to believe it's not an issue with the usb cable (I've tried a few different ones also). Also, if I transfer files to the SDcard directly using a card reader, it's no problem. This is super frustrating since it means I have to take the back off the phone and take the card out to move music around, and it's something I do pretty often.

Normally if there is a link, in my case a podcast, and if you long press the link it pops up with a menu and one of the options is to "save link" which is basically the same as right clicking on a PC and saving the target as.
I'm trying to download the SMS app from XDA and the guy has it up as a zip file. I download it and extract it, and it's a folder with random crap in it. No apk.
Then I read that I just change the file name. I'm on a Mac, so I change the filename and it verifies if I want to change it from .zip to .apk and I say "yes." Put it on my card and Astro still doesn't recognize it. It's list, but it's an icon with a window and a gear in front of it.
I installed the Vanilla email app, no problem. Not sure what the deal is with this one.

I want this for 1) convenience when developing and 2) SD card access isn't available when plugged in. One idea I had was to write an app that would download the app from the computer wirelessly (e.g. or via a website the app was uploaded to) and then launch the app. The APK doesn't need to be installed in this process, but if it did, I wouldn't want there to be any user interaction. Is this possible? I suspect it won't be because of security implications. Are there any alternative ways to do this? I essentially want some way to do over the air updates for an application. Perhaps I can upload a single class file for the app that can be launched?

I go to youtube, copy the url of the song/video I'm watching, zamzar converts it to mp3, sends it to my e-mail, I follow the link in my e-mail, and the song begins to download. Is this possible on the Evo? Even if the file can't be opened unless I do something on the comp first, as long as i can actually download the file.

Tried downloading a couple times through the stock browser and also i've tried downloading through dropbox but every time the download gets randomly interrupted sometime between when 20mb - 100mb is done. I am not getting any calls or texts or anything that would interrupt it - it seems like the phone is going to sleep in the middle of the download or something. I use Isilo on my phone and download the rules from the UPRR web page. My friend installed Isilo but his moto droid won't allow him to download PDB isilo files.
