Anyone else have this problem? I was trying to download a word document and it said it completed instantly but the file isn't complete. I run the sense ROM...and I believe I'm on the latest radio (Unless a n ew one has come out and I missed it) AND I'm on T-mobile.

I'm trying to download the SMS app from XDA and the guy has it up as a zip file. I download it and extract it, and it's a folder with random crap in it. No apk.
Then I read that I just change the file name. I'm on a Mac, so I change the filename and it verifies if I want to change it from .zip to .apk and I say "yes." Put it on my card and Astro still doesn't recognize it. It's list, but it's an icon with a window and a gear in front of it.
I installed the Vanilla email app, no problem. Not sure what the deal is with this one.
Once again another question for the new nexus one smartphone challenged owner. how do i download music or is the an app where i don't have to pay for it after a 7 day free trial? I just want to listen to some music when i work out!

View 20 Replies View RelatedI bought the Nexus One last sunday. I'm very pleased with how the phone works. On monday though, I started noticing notifications popping up from the Android Market. It said some applications failed to download. The only app I downloaded so far was Google Earth. Now every now and then it keeps feeding me with these notifications... I've installed an app killer to shut down the Android Market, but after a while it turns back on by itself.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two questions regarding my Nexus 7 and pdf files. I tried to save a pdf attached to an e-mail, and was asked to choose btween Kindle and Quick Office and whether to make the choice permanent or one time. I mistakenly chose Kindle+permanent. Now the only way I can access the pdf is to go to the saved email and click the attachment. Then I get linked to Kindle which opens the pdf. Needless to say that is a lot of unnecessary selection. I tried to find the pdf file with File Manager but could not locate it. I tried to create a bookmark to the email, but could not do that either. So my questions are:
1. How do I undo the permanent choice of Kindle?
2. If I cannot do that, how do I create a link or shortcut or bookmark to the email so I can get to it quickly?
3. How do I find the folder to which the pdf was saved?
I tried downloading slideme's sam.apk or any other file for that matter. But anything I download it just has a bar that keeps moving but nothing happends for hours and hours. I dunno if anyone has had this problem before but this is getting quite frustrating

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got my shiny new Nexus 7 three days ago and connected it to my gmail account. Then I tried searching the play store and it doesn't seem to be working properly - apps like iPlayer and Evernote are 'not compatible with my device' and when I search for other apps I don't get the proper, basic ones like camera, only independently made ones that are less popular. When I try to download these I get an error message - Error while retrieving information from server (RPC:S-7 EOS:AEC-O). So I tried looking for solutions on the internet - sync it, remove Google account and put it back on, I've even tried setting up an entirely new email, but nothing has worked. I've noticed my device has a permanent sync error but nothing has remedied that. This is all terribly annoying as a device is pretty useless without apps, although I managed to download Facebook right when I got the tablet. The internet works fine, and my Wi-Fi is strong.

I want this for 1) convenience when developing and 2) SD card access isn't available when plugged in. One idea I had was to write an app that would download the app from the computer wirelessly (e.g. or via a website the app was uploaded to) and then launch the app. The APK doesn't need to be installed in this process, but if it did, I wouldn't want there to be any user interaction. Is this possible? I suspect it won't be because of security implications. Are there any alternative ways to do this? I essentially want some way to do over the air updates for an application. Perhaps I can upload a single class file for the app that can be launched?

Second question...I figured smartphones are smart. Can I download mp3 files from the internet to the phone itself? In more detail, I use zamzar for my music. I go to youtube, copy the url of the song/video I'm watching, zamzar converts it to mp3, sends it to my e-mail, I follow the link in my e-mail, and the song begins to download. Is this possible on the Evo? Even if the file can't be opened unless I do something on the comp first, as long as i can actually download the file.
When i download a wmv file, it plays the sound but not the video. Any suggestions?

These are my personal mods that I made and use for myself but am now sharing with you all. I havent tried/looked into making a "flashable update zip" so for now this comes as a package of APK files that you will push to your phone via ADB. I have made this slightly easier for you as I have provided all the commands needed that can simply be pasted into a terminal window.......................
I've used IOS for a while and wanted to try something different. That being the case I bought a google nexus 7 to play around with it. I have 2 google+ accounts set up on this phone because I play a game called Clash of Clans. I had to link both my IOS accounts over to 2 google play accounts. Now when I connect via Wi-Fi anywhere, it downloads the emails from both accounts. Is there a way for only allow for one of them to download? I'm not too familiar with this new operating system, so maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I got our Nexus7 tablet over a year ago, I was happy to find that it would accept WAV files as notifications and ring tones since I had a number of custom WAV files that I wanted to use for different needs.
In addition I used SmartVoiceRecorder to generate a custom voice ringtone for my wife (who has difficulty hearing and finds it easier to hear alerts recorded with my voice) and it worked fine using the WAV files that it generates.
Over the last couple of days, her phone stopped ringing. Her settings showed that the ringtone was set to "none"
Using SmartVoiceRecorder to reset my recordings to "ringtone" didn't work either. Copying the WAV files to the ringtone directory and selecting them using ES File Explorer also didn't work.
None of the above actions triggered any warning or complaint, but the current ringtone was reset to "none" after each attempt without warning or notification.
I checked the SMS message tone and found that it had also reset to none.
Not sure if there is an android app to convert WAV to an android acceptable ringtone, but Mobile Media Converter - The Audio and Video converter you want. is a nice little PC converter that creates mobile compatible audio files... I tried AMR and OGG outputs, and both worked as Nexus ringtones.
Having a problem downloading audio attachments sent through text messages and i know you are supposed to do a long press and wait for the menu to pop up but mine never pops up so i cant save any picture or audio files ppl send me and i made sure to check the unknown sources box in settings under unknown sources so i don't know what else to do.

Found on the forum that one way to go around this is to download streamfurious. However I don�t find it in android market! No idea why, I find other programs.
I've tried to download 2 different .avi files, and I get "cannot download. the content is not supported on this phone". eh? SF is supposed to be able to play .avi, correct? anyone know what the deal could be?
