General :: Notification Area Missing Mounted Micro SD Card?

Jul 6, 2013

I have a TF101g transformer. I just recently rooted it and installed Jelly bean with EOS-tf101-20130617-120.zip and gapps_4.2.2_TF101_20130323b.zip Everything seems to be working fine except with the notification area failing to show mounted sd, micro sd and usb drives. When they are inserted into the tablet I see in the notification area that the system is scanning the micro sd card but after it is mounted nothing is there. As a result it is difficult to unmount them except for going to settings and then storage device and then unmount them from there.

With Ice cream android, when I put in any sd cards, the notification area would have the sd cards listed. I could open it with a folder and browse it and I could unmount it also when finished with it.

What I must do to get the sd card listed in the notification area?

HTC Hero :: Sim Card Notification

Dec 28, 2009

I've always been a Nokia fan but S60 is falling just too far behind for me in 2009. I sold my Nokia E71 and bought a Malaysian Hero (they're not available in NZ) and flashed a rooted generic firmware onto it. Very happy with the phone overall.I have a question though, I'm getting a sim card notification on the top bar thing and a blank notification entry in the pull down list. Clicking it doesn't do anything. The manual doesn't say what this means and I've found another person on XDA-Developers with the same thing. They are with the same carrier as me, Vodafone NZ.

Samsung Behold 2 :: SD Card Notification

Apr 15, 2010

Had a behold II about two weeks and love the phone only one problem, every so often it gives me a notification (makes same noise as a text) saying preparing external SD card. The phone isn't plugged into anything and has no other problems it used to only happen a couple times a day now it is happening every 3-4 minutes and is getting pretty annoying. I looked through the options and can't find a way to make it stop giving me the notification noise for this. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make this stop its getting aggravating.

I am now on my second B2 because i thought the first phone was defective. Well I'm having the same problem with my new B2...The phone is disconnecting and connecting on its own consistantly. And it keeps sending me notifications. I've tried 3 different SD cards all with the same result. Eventually it will erase all card data and tell me the card is damaged. Anyone else with this problem? Should I go with the G1 or Mytouch?

HTC Droid Eris :: Notification Bar Stated SD Card Damaged

May 31, 2010

Yesterday afternoon, the notification bar stated my SD card was damaged. This was out of the clear blue, no errors?nothing missing from the widgets. I tried using the file manager on the phone and it would open some folders, but not all of them. I popped the card out and inserted into the adapter card to read on my laptop. Windows 7 said that it was not responding after trying to read the card 3 times. On the fourth time I was able to right click and pull up the properties and tools. I performed a scanerror check. It found and fixed the 3 problems. The .data, download and Camera folders were corrupted.

What does that mean?.Well, the download folder included images I had downloaded and uploaded to my phone. So I just had to gather the images again. The Camera folder is a mystery. Images were stored in another folder (DCIM)?this had nothing in it and was added after the OTA. The biggest pain was the third folder; the .data file contained all the animation for Beautiful Widgets. I had to uninstall & reinstall BW home?along with all the animation which was a separate download once you add the BW Home to your screen. BW installed fine, however the animation won?t download?it sits @ 0/100%. I have even tried turning on the Wi-Fi with no successful of a download. With all the other quirks since the OTA, I may just keep BW uninstalled. I don?t use any of the other widgets?.and now with full screen weather animation?I may not go back.

HTC Incredible :: SD Card - Message On Notification Bar Said Mounted ReadOnly

Nov 5, 2010

Having a new and strange SD card problem.

Was using Astro to browse my SD card to try to open a QuickOffice word file. Got to the folder where the file was located, but then suddenly, Astro closed and returned me to my home screen. Also, got a message on my notification bar that said "Mounted ReadOnly. The SD card has an unexpected problem. Tapping (sic) to recover it."

Ok, well, I tapped where it said to tap and the message went away. Back in to Astro to browse the file and...same result.

Went into Settings and Unmounted the SD card, then remounted it. Back in to Astro to browse the file and...same result!

So now I'm concerned. Used "Gallery" to browse pictures that are on my SD card...no problem. Used QuickOffice to manually open the file I was looking for in the first place...no problem. It seems that only when I go to Astro and browse does this problem occur. BTW, I also tried using Estrong File Explorer and had the same result, so I don't think it's an app thing.

Only thing I've not yet tried is going in to Clockwork Mod and unmounting/remounting SD card. Funny thing is that all my files appear intact, it just seems that for some reason, phone all of a sudden decides that the SD card is mounted "read only" (whatever that means) and is kicking me out. Dunno that I like that but...oh well.

Rooted DINC with Clockwork Mod, stock ROM, no major root apps except SetCPU.

I have seen others using this technique and I can't find any documentation on which values actually need to be passed in to successfully add the file into the Android system so that it can be set as a notification.

HTC Desire :: Apps Restart After Standby Notification Preparing SD Card

Nov 1, 2010

Android Version: 2.2
Network: Telstra NextG
Taskiller Used?: Advanced Task Cleaner installed but not normally used to kill/FC
Are You rooted & which Rom: no - stock

I recently updated my Desire to 2.2 (stock Telstra update) and quickly moved some apps to the SD card to free up some phone storage. Since then I've noticed that after longer periods on standby (definitely hours - haven't worked out the lower limit yet), when I wake the Desire it notifies 'Preparing SD Card' and all the apps appear to have closed. By the apps having closed I mean the weather widget has to load, my Agenda/schedule widget has to load, my Dolphin HD browser starts afresh, etc. I had moved Dolphin to the SD card but not the widgets. The experience is kind of like after startup, so i'm presuming its all apps, but it may not be all - its certainly more than just the apps on SD.

To be clear, the SD card does mount fine, and I've had no other indications of SD card problems before or after the Froyo upgrade. I've seen reference to partitioning the SD card, but am not sure why I would do it or if it is relevant here. Is this a known problem with moving apps to the SD card, or is it a known problem with the Desire 2.2 update? Is it just me?

Is it possible to hide just the notification icon without hiding the notification itself from pulldown?

Use case: Yahoo Weather app, the persistent notification in the pulldown is beautiful. I want it to always be there. However, the little temperature notification icon is pretty ugly, and I want to hide/disable it.

Using JB's "disable notifications" won't work since it will disable the entire notification, not just the icon.

General :: Partitioning SDHC Card Without Card Reader

Sep 8, 2013

I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Blaze phone, installed Titanium BackUp and now would like to send my app data to my nice 16GB SDHC card. The problem is, I can't get it partitioned probably because my laptop's card reader can't really read SDHC cards, even in adapters. It recognizes that the card is there, but then wants to format it and won't format it. I tried using the Mini Tools Partition Wizard, but each attempt failed, claiming I had a bad card. The card works beautifully in the phone, so I don't think that's the problem, especially since brand new cards get the same reaction.

Is there a way to partition the card from my phone? I have good reason to believe that my memory problems have a lot to do with the boatload of email I have saved in GMail, or the fact that Google+ somehow decided I really needed *all* of my photos on my phone, via Picasa (another source of angst and muttering).

HTC Incredible :: Notification Screen Doesn't Hide When Selecting A Notification Event

Sep 14, 2010

So when I get texts, gmail, completed app downloads, etc I get notification icons at the top as usual. When I slide the notification bar down to reveal the nofications and click on an item, the notification screen doesn't hide back to the top of my phone -- it just stays open. I either have to hide it manually or I have to hit the back button, which sometimes exits the app I was trying to open. 2.1 never did this for me, it always hid when choosing an item. Anyone have a solution to this? I've done a factory reset after 2.2 btw. I've also searched support to see if there was a similar problem, no similar threads.

Android :: Update Ongoing Notification Only When Notification Window Shown?

Jun 4, 2010

Is there any way to detect whether the Notification Windows is being shown? I have a service that updates an ongoing notification, complete with a progress bar and text? Is there a way to know if the notifiication screen is actually being shown, so I can adjust how often I wouldn't be so concerned if not for the fact that the HTC Incredible will reboot after it receives several hundred or so updates. Based on a controlled experiment with a beta tester, the service could continue for 24 hours if it did not update progress, but dies after several hundred updates. So I am desperate to reduce the notifications, if that's what works, and one of the ways I could do that is by not updating as much or at all if that screen isn't being shown.
