View 1 RepliesI have seen the nexus 4 unroot toolkit, I have a Nexus 4 running 4.2.2, TWRP, and Franco.Kernel. i want to upgrade the Nexus 4 to 4.4 KitKat, i never had the chance to upgrade to 4.3 because i was rooted. I do not mind loosing my root, franco.kernel or twrp, i just want to be able to get the new updates that are being released from google, and OTA if possible. it is super important to me that i don't loose my apps and data.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a rooted Nexus One with a FRF83 build preinstalled. It's been working great but I keep getting messages about installing OTA updates but they always fail (says E: No signature (575 files) E: Verification Failed) I tried manually downloading the FRF85 and FRF91 update, copying as update.zip to my SD updating from the recovery menu but it still gives the same error. From the little info I've found online it may be an issue with the ROM but I can't tell for sure. My ultimate goal would be to go back to stock Android with the latest official Froyo build.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am sure it's been answered but I failed completely in finding what directions for my exact state and being a n00b when it comes to rooting, I've decided to ask first.
I am currently on rooted T-Mobile's ERE27. This morning I got OTA upgrade, however, when I tried to install it I got the "verification failed" message. After I restarted the phone, I looked at the SD card and found no Update.zip of any kind.
Several questions:
1) Should I wait for an OTA? Will an OTA update work on rooted Nexus?
2) If I have to do it manually, can someone please explain the steps I should take or link me to a guide that fits my state?
3) Will an upgrade, manual or OTA, wipe the phone?

I know I should modify the build.prop. But thats kinda it for the upgrade. -E13
If I need to return my phone before the 30 days are up and they are out of stock, will they still honor the return policy and just call you when they have one available or will you have to stick with the phone that you have?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a Tmobile Galaxy S2 about 2 months ago, and everything worked just fine. 2 weeks ago I upgraded it to Android 4, and now when I play back the video's that I recorded with the phone, they stutter regularly every second or two. This happens when I play them on the phone, I haven't tried downloading them to the computer yet. I never noticed this when using the previous version of Android that came with the phone (I believe it was 2.3?). setting which might be causing this, or any other solutions.
The other thing I noticed when upgrading s that the battery runs out a lot faster than it did before. I used to have about 50-60% charge left at the end of the day, and now it's closer to 30-40%. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.
I'm just curious to know if its possible to upfrade my phone from 2.3.4 to 4.0? I have a Cricket ZTE Score, I know its not listed on here and neither is my carrier but it never hurts to try.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt looks like ics automatically runs the "Android is Upgrading" thing whenever it senses some "change" in boot.img? It happens everytime i flash a kernel, without wiping dalvik cache. It will continue to run regardless of whether the dalvik cache files are present or not. This is actually a good feature.
But i noticed that if i simply do a nandroid backup of /boot, and restore it without doing anything else, or flash the same kernel again, it will boot up with the "Android is Upgrading" thing again from the start.
is there a way to disable this, or at least prevent dalvik cache generation if they are already present? im using amon Ra recovery
I own a MI-BOOK MI3 tab. I'm able to surf the internet using browser but, couldn't login into gtalk app, youtube app, googleplay app, can't signin or sync the device with google and, I tried factory reset couple of time changed modem settings, reset modem settings no chance whatsoever and also login with another gmail account which was created for this purpose. Also when I login into play.google.com browser it shows all the apps that or wiped after factory reset as "INSTALLED". What do I do? Also how can I upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean? I followed your tutorial and gained root access to my tab.
Also if I factory reset again will the root feature enable will be gone? Do I have to root again after one more factory reset if done? What about Android 4.2 Jelly Bean upgrade? Can I root again using same method if I get it to upgrade? Can I change the [url]... settings showing apps as installed even though they were lost after factory reset? If I upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and do another factory reset will it reset to new installed Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or will it go back to earlier version of Android? What will happen to apps that came with tab by default? Will the apps that came with the tab be lost after upgrade?

My main question is will my root be lost when I root. & If so I would also like to know will I loose the ability to tether as well?
It took me some time to figure out to tether without that blasted AT&T warning coming up saying I didn't pay for the service. I use Straight Talk on my LG Nitro HD so I can't activate it any other way.
So I guess to summarize I want to know if I upgrade, will loose my root? & If I do loose the root, will the settings I modified be restored to AT&T default shutting down my tethering ability?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to upgrade my SGS2 to ICS using one of the official firmwares, but I want to be able to restore certain apps and their associated data.
I can use Titanium Backup to backup and restore apps currently.
If I backed up these apps, upgraded to ICS (with a wipe install) and tried to restore these apps, would everything work out, will there be some gotchas due to changes in the Android versions?
I just flashed my Galaxy S2 i9100 with the PureICS v6.1 ROM and almost everything is fine except one problem:
Whenever I start a skype call there is no sound, if I start a video call there is video but there is still no sound, neither party in the call can hear anything.
I was just wondering if this was a ROM specific bug which just needs to be ironed out, or something to do with skype generally misbehaving on ICS ROMs which don't belong to the Galaxy Nexus or whatnot.
I tried to install ginger bread 2.3 . i used odin and had the necessary firmware tooo(XWKS2). After odin declared "PASS", the phone rebooted.
But soon after it posted the following error message.
"The Application Setup Wizard (process com.sec.android.ugl) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later."
this message is followed by a FORCE CLOSE button
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note GTN7000 Android Phone with Vodafone Connection in Mumbai.
I upgraded to 4.0.3 last Saturday after which the Phone and Contacts Icon at the Bottom disappeared.
I can't add it from App Menu too as it seems the application itself has been removed somehow.
I don't see them in the list of Application installed in ALL Tab.
Putting jelly bean on nexus one
My Phone
Nexus One
CM7.2
hboot 0.35-0017
My Problem
Upgrading hboot. I've looked into the other posts. But in none (that i have looked at) they do "fastboot flash hboot". Maybe it's just the same?
I'm just following everything step by step (link)
Code:
$ fastboot flash hboot hboot_jellybean_260-8-168.nb0
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.095s]
writing 'hboot'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 0.219s
My bootloader is already unlocked. Might it have something to do with read/write permissions?

I currently have a problem with my Sky Vega phone. I was updating it while it was connected to my PC but unfortunately the update did not finish properly.
Now it is stuck at "Upgrading Software". I have tried the "Volume Down + Power Button" trick and other variants but I can't seem to access recovery mode / download mode. It keeps booting at "Upgrading Software". I also tried removing and uninstalling the battery.
Additionally, now my PC doesn't even seem to detect it! So I am really currently at a loss of what I am supposed to do and how to fix my phone properly.

I tried upgrading from GB2.3.4 to 2.3.6, and that's when the problem occurs.
I used ODIN 4.3.8 to flash the firm ware. But ODIN was downloading MIBIB for the past few hours.
And then, the screen appear a "Phone connecting to a PC, with a exclamation mark in between."
