I currently have an individual Verizon plan with 450 minutes, unlimited data and unlimited hotspot. I would like to keep the unlimited hotspot and move it from my phone to a jetpack.

Whenever I leave my home Wi-Fi hotspot, my phone seems to pop up with a notification, asking me if I want to go in to roaming mode (or something along those lines - I can't remember the exact phrase and I can't recreate the notification without leaving the house). I've only noticed this when I've come to pull the phone out of my pocket. I tell it to just carry on using my mobile network for data connectivity.
When I return home, instead of returning to the Wi-Fi network, it carries on using my mobile network for data connectivity.
How do I get the phone to automatically switch to using my mobile network for data when I'm not in my hotspot and then to automatically switch back to it when I am in the hotspot? It's driving me mental at the moment, and there doesn't appear to be anything obvious in the phone or any documentation!
What do I need to do for network connections to be implemented automatically?
I have samsung android phone which can be used as wifi hotspot. My question is can I use my laptop internet on android phone by connection laptop to android phone hotspot as phone is unable to connect adhoc network.

In more detail:
I do not have internet from a cable/satellite company. The only internet connection I have is through my cellphone hotspot.
Chromecast will be connected to the internet through my cellphone hotspot (SSID: AndroidAP).
When my cellphone has the hotspot running it does not show up on its own network (AndroidAP).
I need the phone to show up on the network (AndroidAP) so that I can see the chromcast and use the phone as a remote.
Is this even possible?
I'm getting a galaxy s3 very soon and I'm thinking about getting a nexus 7 with it.But as you know,nexus 7 doesn't have 3G so my only option to access network on it when there's no wifi network available is to use my future s3 as a wifi hotspot.So my questions are:
1-Is data consumption when using the phone as a wifi hotspot the same as if I'm normally using 3G on the phone itself ?
2-How long can an android(specifically the S3 if it matters much) act as a wifi hotspot before the battery runs out ?

The reason I ask, I am planning to get an Android tablet. I am going to end up getting a off brand Android tablet.
The front speaker on my phone has stopped working entirely, so Verizon is sending me a new phone. I had downloaded Shazam prior to July 13th, so I have unlimited tagging. Am I right in that this means I will lose it since I have to install the app again? Not sure how an app is tied to the phone....
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe had a shock at work yesterday when our Orange bill arrived charging me �826.00 for the 1032mb of data I used over my 500mb allowance in the first month of owning a Desire. At the moment we're negotiating with Orange about that, and they're even sending me something approaching an itemised data bill to look at, but in the future I want to get onto a truly unlimited data account to prevent this happening again. Early indications from Orange are that they only do 500mb bolt ons and no more (and it's very hard to actually confirm this on their not too informative website), meaning this issue could easily rear it's ugly head again. If this is the case then I have to consider going elsewhere. Even though we're only in the first month of the contract I'm prepared to completely downgrade my Orange account and keep it running for my wife or something, and to take out a new account with O2 on an unlimited data package (plus I'll have 2 Desires to play with). The only trouble is that in the past (but not in the last 2 or 3 years) I've heard some horror stories about O2's coverage in the West Midlands (I live near to Wolverhampton) and wondered if anybody has local knowledge and can advise whether this has changed in recently.

The only thing preventing me from purchasing a new phone is that I need to keep my messages and switch it to a new phone. Can I just take it to Verizon, or maybe RadioShack, and ask them to do this, I know they can move contacts over, don't know about messages... I have an HTC Evo 4g with a 16gb sd card. I went from an 8gb to 16gb and my phone will not let me move any more apps to the sd card. Its currently using 7.2 gbs, only half full.

I want to know if I can move the backup folder from my phone to my PC (due to the complete erase that'll happen eventually), and then move it back. Will my phone recognize the backup as long as I use the same app to restore and have TWRP installed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my GS3 yesterday, and i am trying to move all the pictures (and videos) from my skyrocket over to it. on the skyrocket i had them stored on the internal sd card, and i want to do the same on the gs3. i have tried numerous things so far such as moving them to the computer then to the new device, as wel as copying them to the external sd, putting that in the gs3 and copying them to the internal sd from there. my problem every time is that whatever i do, changes the date of the pictures on the new phone to all say the time that they were copied, rather then when they were actually taken and it puts all the videos before the pictures; basically my whole gallery is just out of whack.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Orange UK branded HTC Desire HD running stock firmware & NOT rooted. Since the fairly recent 2.3.5 update with Sense 3.0 I have found that I am regularly seeing Sense restart upon exiting an app and returning to the home screen. This is not related to a particular app, as it can happen when returning to home from ANY app. My wife is seeing the same behaviour on hers too.
Having posted on both HTC's & Orange's Facebook pages, I have been advised in no uncertain terms that as a first step I should perform a factory reset.
This is something that I have not done since I got my DHD (my 1st Android - plenty of hard resets on WM ). I have had a bit of a tidy up - clearing unnecessary data, uninstalling apps I don't use, etc. Pretty much ready to reset (but aware that there is SOME data that I will lose). However, there is one thing that I am unsure about...
I have previously moved a number of apps to the SD card. If I leave them there, will the existing data be recognised upon reinstalling the apps? Or will it cause me problems? Or will the existing data just be orphaned? I.e. should I move all apps back to the phone before performing the reset?

If you, like me, have your outbound Google Voice access number set as one of your "Family and Friends", you'll find that all outbound calls are currently free (since Verizon sees them as going through the outbound number, regardless of who you actually call). However, this new method assigns a personal number to EACH contact.
So if your girlfriend or brother already had Verizon, and you didn't use Google Voice, it would be free calling.
But if you called them with the old Google Voice application, they would both appear on your bill as calls to your Google Voice access number. (So if you had that one number on your Friends and Family line, you could call both of them -- and anyone else -- without using any minutes.)
HOWEVER, if you upgraded, your brother essentially has 1 non-Verizon number, and your girlfriend has another non-Verizon number, so even though they're both Verizon users, you're going to get screwed over with minute usage.
Keep an eye out for these things! Google either needs to work with Verizon (and AT&T, etc.) to fix this gap, or they need to keep it an option to use a single outbound access number. I know I won't be upgrading my Google Voice app until they fix this.
Does anyone know if the EVO can be used as a "hotspot" and also make calls at the same time? I am thinking serisously about getting rid of my cable tv, internet and phone provider if the EVO can be used this way, of course depending on how Sprint will be charging for its usage. I already pay for three phone for my wife, son and I and soon to add my daughter. So we are thinking about the EVO being a way to save a little money.

I hate my AT&T service and want to switch to verizon. I also love my buddies n1, but I need a phone that can make a 3g hotspot. I have jail broken iphone as well as a jail broken Ipad that does the job right now. It really makes the devices worth owning I use my ipad for everything now. Anyway love the droid incredible just need to know the best phone to hotspot tether. I know I can do it with the htc imagio or what ever but who wants a windows 6.5 phone, when their are android phones available.
