Can I manage data(contacts list, address book and etc.) from Android phones by only USB connection to pc without any application in phone.

I have some questions about how the ContentProvider works behind the scenes.
1. The ContentProvider class is registered in the kernel when the application is installed and then what? Or how do the other applications exactly manage to access the application data?
2. When is actually onCreate called? The documentation is pretty vague...
3. What happens if two applications register the same provider class? (I have more applications that must communicate between eachother. The content provider must be registered, of course, along with the first application installed on the system. The problem here is that I don't know which one will be, so I want to deliver the ContentProvider with all the applications)
i build application....and i want to back up my database when user click "clear data" in manage application... because data is lost...some data is very critical for process in my application...how can i solved this?

Here's what I'm talking about, I have bluetooth headphones, several speakers and my car that all are connected to my phone and I'm having several small issues.
- As soon as I turn on bluetooth it tries to automatically tries to connect to these certain speakers, I don't want that and don't know how to stop it.
- If I'm in my car, my phone connected to my car for calls and I'm listening to music through the headphone jack but it will automatically connect to a set of bluetooth speakers in my home when get home and pull into the driveway. So music will play through those speakers instead of my headphone jack. I obviously don't want that either.
-Titanium Backup never restores my bluetooth connection either so if there is an application that can save those too that would be useful.

I don't want to just put them into my calendar and have them flooding it, but I would like some app to hold such things. Is there a way to manage the audio levels through an app? Or is it more dependent on the phone's built in capabilities? Right now at work I listen to a skype audio call from my house (for security) at a very low volume and then at a higher level I listen to music or podcasts, both sources going at the same time. When my dog goes nuts, the door is knocked on, or (in theory) if someone busted down my door, I notice the change in volume and sound, turn off my local media, and focus on what I'm hearing until the drama passes.
I ask because I would like to continue this setup when not at work, like say while running, where I again have earphones in and am normally listening to audio content. I would like to be able to have two pieces of audio: music combined with a skype stream or normal phone call, going at the same time like at work. So is there a way to have two sources going at the same time, with the volume of each independently adjustable? Is this an app thing or a phone thing? Phone will be Sprint Hero.
What is the best approach to managing a small SQLite database private to the application? I'm nervous about how I save data in my game. My problem is that, if in a later update, I decide to store more data or store the same data in a different way, I need to be careful I don't lose or corrupt data for users that upgrade (i.e. I want users to be able to use data created by an old version in the new version, like their high scores from before).For example, say I want to save high scores in version 1.

I killed mobile data today while at my desk and despite the battery having just turned orange, it didn't turn red for nearly 5 more hours. So, I'd like an app that will kill the data connection at a certain time. Ti terrific and Setting Profiles Lite don't have the option to just kill data, only an airplane mode option.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've looked at a lot of different place for a Contact Manager for Xperia X10 (or Android phone for that matter), but couldn't find a perfect solution. So far, the closest option I have found is this PC Suite for Android Xperia X10-Manage Everything from PC Gadgets | Technology Simplified.
In a nutshell, it involves installing additional driver, a suite on your PC and another app on the phone. Wondering if anyone has other options? I wish the PC Companion software shipped with the Xperia X10 could have this function built it. Adding pictures for each of 300 contacts you have isn't a fun thing to do on a phone.
to start with I've gone through the entire notepad tutorial, I'm a professional game programmer who has some extra time. (though most of my time has been in C++, I did take a year or two of Java classes in college, and remember some of it). I'm not sure the site is a good site to ask questions like this.. If someone has a Forum that might be a good place to ask these newbie questions, please feel free to point me in the direction. I've examined a few of the samples, and think I've a grasp of what I want to do. I've a three to four project plan for some Android releases to sharpen my skills, but since this is my first project and I have never really developed for a mobile phone or the android before, I'd like to make sure I have a solid plan.The first project is an example of the license plate game, however I want to do a few things to change it. Heck maybe when I'm done it'll become a bingo style game, with bluetooth connectivity, you never know. The base idea is I want to offer a list of states, with checkboxes next to them. so to do this, I'll be starting with a Linear List layout similar to the note pad example, and then have a row that is only a Checkbox. I can use text and call strike through if it's been checked off. Perhaps offer an option to not show them if they are checked.
But I want the list to be generated from a set of lists. Maybe all of America's states, maybe reasonable American states (no Hawaii, no Alaska) maybe a North American list, (add in Mexico and some Canadian provinces), a European list, who knows. I'd probably have to have a pop up window that lists all of the lists I suppose using a radiogroup of some sort. So then as far as the data, after weighing options I think best solution is to make a database with two fields, "checked" and "name".I figure I can use the menu for most of the user interaction (aside from clicking on stuff we want to check off) with maybe a few context menu items, I understand how to make all of those already so I should be good. The question I have is what is the best way to populate the lists? Should I create raw data, and have different files for all the lists? Or is there some other way to do this? I've seen this done on the searchable dictionary, but I'd like to hear what people who have actually generated the data like this before. In addition is there an easy way to look at the sql database these applications create, or do you have to run searches on them and output the data? Finally any other suggestion or advice? I definitely want to try to get something like this on the market so I can see the full life cycle and see if anyone actually likes it. (luckily there's not a plethora of them already) but I also want a few people to look over my code if they're willing when I'm done to make sure I've done this right or at least not missing any basic mistakes.
Is there any backup application that can backup ONLY the data of an APK?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI didn't like having my phone numbers showing up in my email contact list, so I turned off contact sync and deleted all the phone numbers from my iGoogle contacts. I do not seem to be able to manage my contact list in my phone, however -- none of the default numbers are the ones that I chose for my previous phone and seem to be in a random order -- and I wondered if putting them into google online would be the way to manage them. I don't send email from my gmail account and don't really need them anyway.
I deleted the emails in my contacts and turned the sync back on. However, I got an error message saying that to sync I had to delete 34 contacts. I assumed this was my phone list, and I didn't want to do that! I thought I told it no and cancelled it, but I just went in to call my child's daycare and my contact list is empty. Is there anyway to get that back? Or am I stuck with repopulating the list all over again? Also, do I have to use the online google to manage the contacts? Or is it in the phone somewhere and I just haven't figured it out yet? After this, I would prefer to not try synching them again.
