I have an SGS2 running ICS and have setup my android's SIP client (internet calling) in phone > settings > internet call settings ("Accounts" and "Use internet calling", at the bottom).
I call many international numbers through sip. If I set the option "Use internet calling" to "Ask for every call", then every time I dial a number it asks whether to use "Mobile phone call" or "Internet call". If I choose the latter, then the call is made through my sip provider saving me lots of money.
It would be really useful if there was an app that would intercept calls to certain numbers I configure and change to internet call mode on the fly. The "prefixer" app does something close with prefixing/suffixing numbers.
Alternatively, I would also be happy with a widget that allows me to switch that phone option between "Ask for every call" and "Only for Internet calls" when tapped, so I don't have to navigate through menus all the time. For a dev this shouldn't be that hard I presume since it would just alter an existing OS option.
I'm writing a piece of code that has a error every time I run it stating:
-No internet calling account availible
I'm wondering if there is some kind of permissions involved in this or something else I am missing.
When someone that I don't want to speak with is calling me, soft keys disappear (only Google Now button it's there), so I can't continue with the activity that I am making.
Is there any way to keep the call entering in background and continue working with another app? Without cancelling the call, I mean.
I just wanted to ask what types of solutions are most successful for calling and texting using a 3G/wifi connection.
I'm going to Canada tomorrow and Verizon said that 3G is included in my plan but regular texting/calling is extra when out of the country.
I want to be able to make/receive calls from my friends in Canada with me AND be able to communicate with friends still in the states without any of us incurring further charges.
My assumption is that I will need to utilize apps that work with Google Voice. I don't believe the native GV app handles texts or calls itself though.
I've seen GrooVe IP mentioned for VOIP style calling with Google Voice (gchat?).
I've seen Kakaotalk mentioned for texting, I want non-smartphone users to be able to text me too..
Has used a 3rd party SMS/MMS application (ie Handcent, GoSMS, Textra, 8sms, etc etc) to use send/receive MMS over WiFi Calling WITHOUT ANY DATA? I'm in an area where I can only use WFC, and all of my 3rd party SMS apps simply will not send or receive MMS over WiFi Calling without using the stock app.
And I repeat, NO DATA, no wifi = no service, so if you have a solution, make sure it's not quietly turning on data, sending the MMS, then going back to wifi, because that's not going to work as there is no cell service in this location.

I setup SIP calling through Sipdroid and Pbxes just fine. Uninstalled Sipdroid and was able to make SIP calls over 3G/WiFi using the Android Native Dialer. Suddenly my SIP calling does not work any more. I did not change any of the settings. When making calls over 3G/WiFi the call connects but immediately hangs up. The call log shows the call as outgoing but lasting "0 minutes, 0 seconds." The Sipdroid app works just fine but I don't want it running all the time.
UPDATE: I can make outgoing calls only if "Receive Incoming Calls" is checked. I would assume there is a way to make outgoing calls over SIP without having to accept them since I have GV forwarded to my cell number (yes I know it uses minutes but it saves on battery.)
i just got the phone today. But when i make a phone call the whole screen turns black and doesnt respond to any buttons/touch, i can't hang up either. But the conversation is still running i can speak and hear the other person. only when the other person hangs up the screen returns back to normal.

I am searching an application that can tell me "who is calling" in those cases where the called number is not in among my contacts. To do this the application should access via internet to databases such as yellow pages, white pages and tellows. It would be nice if the same application could use all of these 3 databases and, if a match is found, a pop-up should come up on the screen with the information found.

Previously I would go to the dialer and then hit menu and the option to enable SIP would be there. Now it is somehow gone. Is there a setting I need to enable elsewhere to get this option back?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen calling, roughly 3 out of 10 calls my phone just spontaneously reboots. It does no matter if I get called or if I am calling. It usually happens straight after a connection is established but in rare cases it also happens during the call. It had this since the beginning when I even did not install 1 app yet.
Other then the calling issue the phone is working flawlessly. I am running the stock Android 4.0.3 HTC ONE V (which I recently rooted, but the problem exists already before the rooting)
Below are the logs for one such crash

The only problem is that when I make a call or receive a call the ALS_PS sensor I think turns the screen off and it will not come back on until the call ends.
I have searched for answers and have found that this is a common problem. One thread suggested that if you enter the boot menu with the volume and power key you can sellect an option to disable this feature. However the menu is in Chinese !!

View 2 Replies View RelatedRight basically you can find the UK T mobile internet settings on the T mobile website. On the Speed Test app, the highest speeds I get are 1.8m/bs downloads and around 500kpbs upload. However, those were at off peak times at night etc (probably when nobody is using the net).Generally I get anything from 0.3 m/bs to 0.9 m/bs though. Lately I've been experiencing some inconsistent internet speeds and reconnection attempts so for I've gone back to the default settings. Tbh though I'm not sure if it makes much difference.

I'm having an issue with HTC One. The problem is the phone CAN connect to wifi / mobile network, but it CANNOT access internet. Every time I try to access any websites or apps that require internet connection like Facebook, it takes so long for the page-loading thing, and then it said:"The webpage is not available" or "No network connection." I also attempted to shut it down and restart, disconnect wifi and re-type the password. It doesn't work at all.
P.S: I did test the other devices, and the network works fine. So, apparently, it's not the network problem itself.
SMS replacement app (like Gosms pro or handcent or chomp) that does NOT have a "full internet access" privilege? I found "SMS classic view" but that's not really a viable replacement.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIm using way too much! Mainly on facebook though, noticed it seems to load the same images, can you not make it keep these in memory so it doesnt keep using internet on the same things?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a voice / messaging app that will work via a wifi connection WITHOUT the need for an Internet connection? For example, two people with phones connected to the same router over wifi, but NO ACCESS to the Internet. I'm assuming apps like Skype would require both devices to be able to communicate with the Skype server to initiate the call, but might allow peer-to-peer afterwards.
I am not interested in making calls or texts to people outside of the wifi network. Does such an app exist?
So I want to get the wife the Transformer Prime for her work, BUT they have a site that they MUST use that is Internet Explorer only. I've looked around a bit, but it seems nothing is available, but most of those threads weren't this specific and they all seemed to be pretty old. are there any options that will allow her to get to this site or should I just scrap the whole idea until her company moves into the current technological age?
