General :: How To Extract IMEI Number From Backup Of EFS Partition Files
Jan 8, 2014
I lost my phone. I forgot to note down the IMEI number. However i took TWRP backup of EFS Partition. I can open the EFS partition file through winzip software in my computer and see various files (like nv_data.bin etc). I want to find out the IMEI number from the backup.
How to extract the IMEI number from my computer from the backup of EFS Partition files?

I changed ROM on my phone and when restoring the messages (SMS) with Titanium Backup it didn't work. Well this was not the end of the world but I had some numbers in one SMS that I would really want.
Is it possible to open one of the Titanium Backup files on a computer and read the SMS content there?

Recently my telephone was stolen and the police need my IMEI number. I never bothered to write it down and don't have the original box, so I wondered whether the IMEI number is stored in ADB or in some other software, since I have done some development for Android.

I have got an LG Optimus Vu from Korea through DHL but the customs have seized it saying there is no IMEI number provided for the phone.
I managed to convince them to let me play with the phone and checked in Settings, Phone Identity , About screens and all i saw was a serial number. I could not find the IMEI number. Also it is not there on the box. The phone has a sealed battery and microSIM so it is not possible to check the inside also.

I have been using Samsung Galaxy Note 1 for some time now, but couple of weeks ago my connections starts dropping and i would just take the SIM out and put it back and it would start working again.
What is is that when i enter *#06# it doesn't show any IMEI number. I have tried to restore my phone and install new software didn't work.
Some of the mobile shops said they need to buy a new IMEI number, some said they need to open it and see and some said "Basement" has gone bad. Not sure what that is though. May be he meant Baseband...

I'm having the documented problem of no data connection, always on roaming, after flashing to CM 10.1. My prior rom was CleanRom 5.1, and I have several nandroid backups from various roms over the last few months. GS3 (d2vzw) with root and unlocked bootloader.
So the question is... What's the best way to restore IMEI info and get mobile data back?
There are a couple of steps I'm not sure of:
Option 1: Flash a nandroid recovery, backup IMEI using terminal emulator, and then crack-flash away
1. If I restore my phone to a previous backup, is the correct IMEI information included?
2. Also having a problem getting the MD5 sum's to match. Should I flash through ADB instead of clockworkmod? Or use Odin to get back to stock and then re-root? If correct IMEI included with flash back to stock?
3. Assuming I restore a nandroid, the plan was to use "reboot nvbackup" in terminal emulator to save IMEI info.
4. Flash back to CM 10.1.
Option 2: Use IMEI Generator and NV Reader/Writer:
1. Based on this thread: [URL]
2. Problem: The link to the generator tool in the OP is broken (404). I can get the converted IMEI number from an alternative program, but don't know how to format the text file correctly to use with NV Reader/Writer. Any standard format of a dummy IMEI text file?

I got my new HTC Sensation with Android some days ago and I would like to change several things on it, but before doing it and to be safe safe I would like to do a backup of the phone as I got it, as I did with my old (and broken ) HTC P3600 with WM.
I have been searching forums (including this one) and I find tools and tutorials for doing it in Windows Mobile or for Applications, but I didn't find it (or I was not able to find it) for the full smartphone, including the ROM Android-based.

I own a new SGS4, and want to migrate all my messages from my an old CWM backup I have. My phone is not rooted, so I can't use NANDROID MANAGER for that job.
I'm looking for a way to convert the internal SMS db file to an SMS.xml (same one as used by SMS BACKUP/RESTORE app) - than it will be easy to restore it.

I am having some difficulties with customizing my rk2918 based tablet. I managed to download the original firmware and it is in .img format. Now I have managed to take apart the single .img file into multiple .img files, customized and rooted it with dsixda's kitchen and rebuild the ROM. Now my question is, can I somehow convert the zipped package back into the multiple .img files, or even into the single .img file so I can flash it with RKupdate or RKbatchtool? How to extract image files......

I've developed an application which has a service and boot completed receiver. The boot completed receiver schedules the service to be executed after every 7 minutes. The boot completed receiver saves its context in a public static variable which is then accessed by service whenever it is scheduled by scheduler. The service first gets the IMEI number of phone and then saves it to a file if it is not already saved. Everything worked smoothly but then i logged into market place and after that the scheduled service was not able to get IMEI number directly , neither was it able to open the file which had already been created and it keeps on throwing nullpointer exception for both direct IMEI retrieval and attempt to open file.................

I am running rooted stock Android 2.3 on LG E405 (no working 4.x ROMs exist for the device)
I have two questions:
1) What is the shell command to manually make android allow the PC to mount androids' (internal) partition as USB-drive? (I cannot think of right keywords to google this one up - )
2) How does android determine which partition is which (i.e. which one to remount for the PC when connecting in "USB storage" mode), beside vold.fstab and init.rc? On android 2.3 that info is not in "framework-res.apk", so where is it? In the partition table itself?
I had switched data partition with internal sdcard partition.
Here's how: Phone had a very small "/data" partition on /dev/block/mmcblk0p21 and large internal "/sdcard" partition on mmcblk0p20
So I reformatted mmcblk0p20 (ex-sdcard partition) into EXT4 and mmcblk0p21 (ex-data partition) into FAT32
Then I changed init.rc to mount mmcblk0p20 as /data type EXT4 and mmcblk0p21 as /sdcard type VFAT (mounting /sdcard was commented out in stock init.rc for some reason). This required modifying my boot image.
I have also set correct partition number in vold.fstab:
[#]dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host[/#]
So basicly I now have a large /data partition and small internal /sdcard. I'm able install up to a gigabyte of APKs and it works fine.
However, when I connect to my PC via USB into "USB Storage" mode, the phone seems to still try to unmount what was previously sdcard partition (/dev/block/mmcblk0p20), instead of what is NOW an sdcard partition (/dev/block/mmcblk0p21) I can still send files to the phone via wi-fi and ADB, but the ability to mount it directly would be nice.
If I accidentally select "erase internal sdcard" from storage menu, that will also most likely erase what is now my /data partition, softbricking the phone. The "factory reset" option will probably only corrupt the sdcard.

I'm have been trying to create a second partition on my sd card using miniTool Partition Wizard. But in the end I never get a 2nd partition but just a smaller first one.My approach is as follows:
insert empty SD card (FAT32, 4GB)
open miniTool Partition Wizard
right click on SD card - "Move/Resize"
choose 1gb for unallocated space after - click ok
right click on 2nd partition and choose "create"
create 2nd partition with FAT32/Ext2/Ext3 (tried all options already) and "primary" and Cluster 4KB - click ok
Apply
Afterwards my SD card is still shown as one partition, but this has just 1gb less capacity then before.Neither the Wizard nor the phone detects the 2nd partition then.

I can't figure what is exactly meaning the Partition Sdcard values in CWM.
I have an i9000, with 8Gb of flash. Some are system reserved. Available is around 6Gb.
When i run CWM, i can partition my sdcard, but i don't see what means the possible values (for 256 to 4096).
This is obviously not ruling the space left on /sdcard mountpoint (i partition to 2048, i still have nearly 6Gb available)... So what exactly means partition sdcard from CWM ??
i can't find an answer, and i dislike, when flashing rom, following commands i don't really master (generally a partition SD 2048 / SWAP 256 or SWAP 0).
