General :: How To Change Transition Animations On 4.2
Mar 6, 2013Is there a way to change the transition animations in 4.2? Like fly in, flip, bounce, etc.

Is there a way to change the transition animations in 4.2? Like fly in, flip, bounce, etc.
I want to set
Window animation scale 1x (default) to Window animation scale .5x
Transition animation scale 1x (default) to Transition animation scale .5x
Animator duration scale 1x (default) to Animator duration scale .5x
As default in my ROM. So users have 0.5 x in settings but can change it if they wish to.
ROM is 4.1.1 sammy base.
I'm using Launcher Pro Plus since I got my phone. Now I have ICS animations on my device, but they don't work on LP. How to port them to LP app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWatching the same transition animations over and over is boring. You can speed them up with Spare Parts or you can just shut them off entirely within settings. There is, though, a third road: change 'em. These are videos of most of the transition animations packs (Drod's rubiX animations, Fab's animation mix, and Android Stock have no videos at present).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had mine set to Some Animations but just changed it to All and I really like it. The screen don't seem to change quite as fast, but it makes it feel more polished and smooth. What do you have yours set on (Its in Display Settings by the way).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have seen more than a couple different inquiries (including some by me) on these topics in multiple places in the SF forums and elsewhere. Because of this I figured I would try and collect all the information regarding changing these things and put them into this one thread. If you think I am missing or forgot something, let me know and I can add it in (such as new files, clarification, etc).
Thanks to the respective creators of each file included in this thread. Without you guys we wouldn't even be detailing this process.
DISCLAIMER: This is intended to provide easy step-by-step directions to change bootup and shutdown animations and sounds. I take no responsibility if you screw up your phone attempting to follow these instructions. Read everything carefully.

*Spinning droid custom boot animation
*Regular Galaxy S bootup animation
*Droid peeing on apple boot animation (can you confirm this one saps?) (confirmed below)
*Numerous Captivate animations (Stainless steel android, rotating colors android, electric android, etc.)
Here is one sound file (the DROID noise) which is in both formats for bootup and shutdown:
Bootup: DROID.wav
Shutdown: DROID.ogg
Here are some shutdown animations (originally created as bootup animation's from xda user GLa'DOS):
*Android scribble w/yellow color burst (altered by saps)
*Android scribble w/no color burst (altered by saps)
*Android scribble w/green color burst (altered by me)
Another shutdown animation:
*Galaxy S shutdown
PLEASE NOTE: You must be rooted. You must reboot in order for these changes to take effect. You should have Root Explorer (although I am sure there is a way with ADB commands as well though). You may want to create a backup (CWM or the like), just in case. Also, most of the people I have seen do this are running a version of Dirrk's/jt's kernel, which allow boot/shutdown animations to be changed. The kernel you are currently using when attempting to change the animations must allow for them to be changed for this to work.
The file needed to change your boot-up animation should be a .zip file.
I successfully changed my bootup animation by doing the following:
Boot-up animation:
1) download a new boot animation .zip file (I put mine in /sdcard/downloads)
2) open Root Explorer
3) navigate to where you put the new .zip
4) copy the new .zip
5) paste it into /data/local
6) rename it "bootanimation.zip." (if it isn't already)
Also, if you want to change the startup/shutdown sounds:
Startup sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to a .wav file (using Winamp+.wav converter/iTunes)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/etc
6) rename "PowerOn.wav" to "PowerOn.wav.old"
7) navigate to where you placed the DL'ed .wav file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/etc
10) rename it "PowerOn.wav"
Shutdown sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to .ogg file (I used Winamp+.ogg converter)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
6) rename "shutdown.ogg" to "shutdown.ogg.old"
7) navigate to the DL'ed .ogg file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/media/audio/ui
10) rename it "shutdown.ogg"
Shutdown animation (DL is above as well): (thanks to saps):

I am trying to resolve following task: smooth change of brightness from 100% to 0%, but can't gain effect of smoothness. Want to emphasize that I am using following approach of brightness
change. The recommended one.
WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = window.getAttributes();
lp.screenBrightness = floatPercent;
window.setAttributes(lp);
Well, it obviously works, but not smooth. I will describe logic: I have a thread that changes brightness:
while (isRunning()) {
Thread.sleep(sleepTime);
spentTime+=sleepTime;
view.post(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
changeBrightness();
} } );
}
I have duration of brightness change, for example 10 seconds. I calculate next value of floatPercent (see code snippet above) the way, sleepTime should always be less than 50ms.
So looks like it had to be smooth. But I always get not smooth transition. It relates specially the range of 0% - 5% of brightness. Smoothness is completely lost on this brightness range.
I am starting an activity and would rather have a alpha fade-in for startActivity(), and a fade-out for the finish(). How can I go about this in the Android SDK?

View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to avoid the use of expandable memory and rely on cloud-based services to store and stream media?
My main use case is that I like to use my phone as a media / music player for my iTunes library. I also use it for ebooks, audio books and photographs.
In past I've stored this on a micro-sd card, but would like to get away from this as there is a shift away from expandable memory by the hardware manufacturers.
I am a new Android user. I used Blackberry before. My blackberry when i had configured my business email address as POP3 it downloads all my emails local on the phone, so when i want to search something i can easily did that at all my emails there.
Now i am trying to find one Android application for my emails at my new phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) with this capability but no luck until now.
I tried the default email app but it shows only the last 20 lets say emails and if i want to see more i have to scroll down and press "load more" to load 20 more. So if i want to search for one email i have to scroll down a hundred times to load 20-20 emails until i will manage to have them all their.
I tried also some other applications but every application it has this option for "load more".
I switched from an ATT ip5 to a tmobile one m8 last thursday and have noticed a lack of texts. at first i thought i was unpopular suddenly but now i know at least one of my contacts texted me without it reaching me. on their end it still said i was on iMessage. im curious if this means i may have lost a number of texts during the transition.
So far the only people to text me are ones i texted first. Are there undelivered texts floating in the aether? can i retrieve them?
i want to use the default open-transition animation (with adw ex i can) because i want to use the new cm7.2 transition animation (ics style), with launcher pro and go launcher for example didn't work, the system use the launcher animation

I have always had my phones rooted from Day 1 so i had an easy Titanium Backup+Restore and don't know about non-root methods.
Rooting is not really an option as my dad won't let me because he thinks it will break everything : I searched and found Helium Backup which would be what i need, except that it only works on 4.x+

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen an action is done in the middle of an animation of transition between screens, the animation is spoiled. Is needed to add a system that stops the animation, and begins the next action.
Using Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.2.1, Stock ROM from Factory Image.
I made a report to Google. [URL]
Some examples:
- Open an app and let many windows behind, for example: Settings > More > Networks > APN > [Your APN]. Press the back button of the navbar several times faster. The animations are spoiled and the phone shows ugly effects. Or press the back button slowly, and in the middle of the animation press back another time.
- Open an app and press the Recents button. Press the Recents button another time, and press it another time when the animation is being showed.
- Enter in Recents, press home and immediately press Recents button.
- Enter in an app and press an option, and press faster the location of the next option you are going, and you know previously where it is.
I don't want to use Sense as my launcher or keep the stock lockscreen either (I use Apex and Widgetlocker).
*I just want a simple app that commands the HTC sense full screen weather animations.
Teslacoil was able to do it with HTC Sense 3.0 on gingerbread 2.3.3 and 2.3.4, but won't work on ICS/JB/Kitkat.
And after downloading almost all of the other lockscreen replacements, none of them have this functionality either.
No I'm not interested in beautiful widgets, Fancy widgets, or HD widgets animations.
So I flashed a boot animation and I want to remove it and us another boot animation that is not flashable and needs root explorer. So how do I remove it? Also, I have AOKP ROM for my nexus 4. I tried to apply another boot animation through the general UI, it shows the animation but it doesnt apply.

Personally I'll be switching from an Incredible and I've started the search for good free or paid backup apps. So far I've found Lookout which is a security and backup app but I'm not convinced.
View 19 Replies View RelatedOne thing that has kind of always urked me about this phone when comparing it to the evil iPhone is the transitions between pages. Why is it that there is always a little jerk here and there on transitioning from one page to the next? I noticed that lists are often even worse! I mean, how hard is it to render some scrolling text? At the moment, I am running IC3, and it seems to have sped things up quite a bit, but I think the transition issue is an issue with the core O.S. itself? I am just thinking that a nice, smooth transition would give me warm fuzzies (which is kind of what I was expecting when going root). I know it's minor, but I've always been curious.
Also, I bought SetCPU, and I haven't been able to quite figure out how to overclock this phone yet... I tried raising the min speed, and it locked up the phone. The top speed is set at 880k by default, but it always reads "526" for the current frequency. I was kind of expecting it to have two simple sliders One for low frequency (idle) and one for high that were self explanatory, but that does not appear to be the case. I've been thinking about throwing JIT on it as well since everyone has been talking about it, but I just haven't had the time to really dig into the reading yet.
I am using "ViewFlipper" for my application. This ViewFlipper includes 5 layouts. I am trying make it that can be changed from current layout to any layout. In other words, it can be changed Layout#1 -> Layout#5 or Layout#4 -> Layout#1 ..etc. How to make it? I used showNext() and showPrevious(). It is not better idea for my case. Can I use ViewSwither instead of this case?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been plugging my phone into my car audio and running my slingplayer while on my long morning commute, in which i travel through a few areas that are out of 4G coverage. When this happens, the feed fails and doesnt start back up till i reconnect the slingplayer. What I've had to do basically is turn off 4G completely so I stay on 3G all the way. Anyone notice this on other applications on EVO (or the Epic, I guess)? Anyone having issues with pandora, hulu, subsonic, youtube, etc? I remember back before the release of evo at the big new york event they said transition between 4G and 3G would be smooth but my personal experience has shown it not to be while streaming.
