General :: How To Turn Off Display Lights

I am running cm7 atm.
Htc liberty/Intruder lcd hvga 3.2" I want to be able to turn off the display lights. Suppose, I set Display/Screen timeout to 10 sec just before locking and blackness, the screen seems to "dim", it looks as if the lights in the back of the screen is turned off, but the screen is on/visible and it is very comfortable especially at night. screen filter & cf lumen CAN NOT & DOES NOT do this(atleast I couldn't do it).
Is there any way to achieve tjis? similar to editing some system file to turn off softkey button backlight?

I'm running Absolution (cm7) on my htc inspire. how can i turn off the 4 softkey lights on my htc inspire (home, menu, back, search)? i want the softkey lights turned off after an interval of a few secs. how do i do this?

I have this error message on my Goophone Goophone V88 i5 Dual core RAM 1GB MTK6577. When I open the camera on the phone, I get the message. (Cant connect to the camera, turn off the flashing lights or other equipment).

I noticed when I get a message, the notification light will only last a little while before it stops blinking. Is there a setting to keep the notification light going until the notification has been checked?I don't like having to power it up to know if I have a message, email, or missed call. I just like glancing at it to see if the light is blinking.

I am having problems with my girls DINC. The four menu button light does not come on. Me and her both have the same phone. Both were asleep and when I wake both up mine lights up but on hers it doesnt. I am not sure if there is a setting or something that I am doing wrong. She is on stock froyo and I am using redemption rom 2.0.4 but I am not sure that has anything to do with it.

I use my android phone for a week now. Last night I noticed that the screens lights up for a few seconds. Is it because it wants to announce new mails or a callander item (without reminder!) ?
The flashing wakes me and uses battery. Can I turn it off?
I use Timeriffic and can turn down the brightness to 0% but I do not know if I want that. What if someone calls me and the brightness is 0%?

The clock is still to bright in night mode and the button lights stay on still. I have updated to 2.1 and was hoping it had been fixed of someone found a work around for this.

Is there a setting, or an app, to turn the display red?
I do a lot of science-type stuff (astronomy), and also photograph at night. I used a red-tinted flashlight, so as to not ruin my night vision. I would love to be able to use my phone while shooting, or doing astronomy stuff out in the dark, and not have bright white glow from the phone.

I don't know what's wrong with my phone, but the screen display is messed up. Sometimes, the screen will display if I keep clicking the power button one-hundred times, but other than that it won't budge. Everything thing else works when I press the power button, the keyboard lights up, the home button and other buttons light, just not the screen. Like I said, I have to repeatedly press the power button so that in a slight chance, the screen might display.

We are developing hardware for Android mobile products.
We are using Samsung Galaxy mobile running on T-Mobile & AT&T cellular networks.
We notice during telephone calls, either dialing outgoing or incoming calls, the display turn off almost immediately when the telephone calls started.
Is there anyway to keep the display turn on all during the entire telephone calls?
I understand you can make all the hard buttons to wake up your phone by modify rhis register, HKCUControl PanelKeybd and create REG_DWORD "DefaultKeyLock" Value "0"
step by step instruction on how to modify this register inside Android?

I just switched from WebOS so I'm quite a noob to Android. Anyways, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.4.
Now to my issue: I like to watch video streams. The problem is, that the display will turn automatically off.
Solutions:
1. Play a stream with a video player - how can I do this?
2. Change settings so the display will not switch off on a stream, but will turn off when idle - is this even possible?
3. Turn off "turn off display when idle" setting - but I don't like this one.

I purchased the HTC Incredible and got it last week. In the last couple of days, I noticed the buttons at the bottom of the phone were sometimes lit and sometimes not. I went into the Verizon store today to pre-order the TV out cable and asked the tech about the lights. He said HTC was aware of several bugs and there will be an update shortly that will remedy them. On the TV out cables, they're all sold out. They're selling like hotcakes - same as the Incredible.

I'm thinking about purchasing HTC Tattoo and I'd like to know a few things first. Does the display turn off completely after some time? Or is there still small status bar (like on normal phones) that you could use to tell whether there is missed call/SMS and perhaps clock? And, more importantly, is there some kind of status LED present, that could tell you the same thing? If there is, is it easy to notice (good position and blinks somewhat frequently, not like my work phone where I have to stare 10 seconds on some tiny spot to see whether it flashes or not)?

when an event occurs, I want to forcibly turn the display *ON*. i tried grabbing a FULL_WAKE_LOCK from the power manager power service, but it still didn't work. i am turning the display off by hitting the power button (i think this is like a light sleep or something)

Being someone who started my smartphone journey way back with blackberry, I grew quite fond of the indicator lights on the phone to notify you of an email etc. So naturally after switching to ATT last year and getting my note, I was quite disappointed it didn't have one. Someone said this was an ATT thing and not a note thing. Is there a reason why ATT phones don't use the indicator light?

I have an Android tablet running Jelly Bean that I have always plugged in on my desk and use as a display for a browser based dashboard.I want it to turn the display on at 8:00am and turn off at 5:00pm Monday through Friday. I can't find an app that will do this and I have tried to do it in Tasker with no luck.

are there any shortcuts available? for instance, on the iphone while listening to music and the display turns off, I could double click to home button to display the player's controls. also, i think i saw in another thread that the captivate does NOT support headphone controls.. this stinks. my headphones have a button where I can pause the song.. or use it to answer the phone I receive a call.

Today I just switched from an Iphone4 to a Droid Razr.....I have a question about texting and notifications. I know on the iphone when a message comes in the screen lights up and it shows the message... On the droid razr it only vibrates or makes a noise when on loud. The screen doesnt do anything and sometimes i forget that a mesage came in. Is there anyway to change it so the screen lights up or anything?

i was trying to get cwn recovery onto my phone and as said i was unsure of what i was doing (i know im Stupid) i had already sucessfully rooted the phone and i opened mtkdroid tools and clicked backup and recovery the box on the right started to spit out text as my phone became detached from the data cable.
Now when i try to power up the phone the backlight lights up for 3-4 seconds then nothing if i hold
volume + and power with no data cable i get the same backlight for 3-4 seconds
volume + and power with data cable i get a dead droid with a red ! in a triangle in its belly ?
the phone displays a battry bar in blue if i do nothing
the pc seems to recognise phone as universal serial bus
mtkdroidtools does not regognise the phone at all
the phone did say android preloader driver not found but ive installed this and this has now disapeared?
