Ithere a *secure* way to hide android apps without requiring to root? By secure I mean that the invisible apps cannot be easily found by other users and would require password.
I know Go launcher provide hiding app function, but it is very stupid. Anyone can just click on the "hide app" button and see what is being hidden....

I'm with Barclay's bank, UK ... And they have brought out a mobile banking app, But when I open it, it denies me access due to me being rooted. I've heard that its possible to hide root from an app, But how?

But ive tried installing a couple of apps in the past that the htc couldnt handle (need for speed shift) and a couple of larger racing games. But the apps arent in my app lists..I just didnt know if maybe they were hiding in a different part of my phone and maybe thats whats eating up all of the space on my phone.
I have ADW launcher & Launcher pro installed but i can't seem to find them in the apps menu. If i push home it used to show all three launchers( adw,LP & sense) but now my home button only shows my scenes.

The default Android icons are showing in the pages and folders where they would go but when I tap them it doesn't do anything since the apps are missing. Is there some XML file or something where the page configurations are stored?
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got a Galaxy Skyrocket (jumped ship from iPhone 4) and switched the launcher to Go Launcher EX. However, I noticed that I can't exit/quit some of the apps by choosing the "close" option for the running app. In Go Launcher, you can get a list of (background) running apps and if you tap the icon of an app, you get a pop-up with options "close", "lock', "goto", and "info". I would think by choosing "close', it would "exit" or "quit" the app, and clear the memory footprint. However, for some apps, like Facebook, Tweeter (actually TweetCaster), etc.--they will disappear for a while and come back again. So the "close" action does not really "kill" the app.
How can I really kill the app? I don't want Tweeter to be constantly running in the background and pulling down hundreds of tweets.
Also how can I stop some apps, e.g. Facebook, from pre-loading? I don't want these apps running in the background eating up the resources when I don't need them. There must be a way, Just haven't figure it out yet.
When I navigate the menu, it's because I want to access apps that are not in my launcher.
Is there some app out there that makes the apps that you have in your launcher disappear from the menu?
The other night, something updated on my HTC One (running Venom with GoLauncher EX) and the icons got all jacked-up. Some Google apps reappeared on the dock, a widget got pushed on top of another, etc. It looks like when the Google apps updated, they felt the need to reinstall themselves on the dock -- not sure, but that's not my main question.
When all of this happened, I lost the "grid" looking icon that will show All Apps and I'm not sure how to get it back. At this time, I can only see the apps I've put on my "home" pages, and in order to see All Apps, I must do an "add" and browse that way.
How do I get the all-apps grid thing back?
The default for apps on my mostly stock android is the screen to be moved left, left, left, for app browsing. I'd like to try it just scrolling vertically, would I need a launcher for that? If so, any recs for the most simple elegant intuitive launcher that might do that?

I'm reading some stuff in Reddit Sync, I press the home button to quickly check another app and when I go back to Reddit Sync (or any other app) it doesn't resume from where I left. Of course I can open up my recents and go from there but I'm wondering if this behavior is normal?
I'm on a LG G2 4.4.2 by the way.
MY QUESTION - APPS IN APEX LAUNCHER - Nexus 4
When I install an app (which is typically via the Play Store) the app icon does not end up on my home screen. Or what I think Apex calls a drawer. Occasionally an app does appear there automatically, but perhaps a couple out of the 50 or so apps I've installed.
The only way I have found to get them onto my drawer (or home screen) is I have to hold my finder on the screen and the "Add to Home screen" menu pops up. From there I can select "Shortcuts" and from the top of that menu I can select "Apps". I can then select just ONE app to appear on my home screen. But the thought of doing this for every app doesn't make sense to me. Is there a way to get them there automatically?
Perhaps I am completely misunderstanding the concept of the home screens. I am switching over from iOS, and there one organises all apps on home screens. Perhaps on Android the home screen is not meant for storing and accessing all the app icons??
I have seen some screen shots of someone using Launcher Pro and HTC Widgets. Is this possible to do without root and custom ROM? If so, how?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried installing "Black Hole Live" wallpaper from the PlayStore, it failed to install BUT left some sort of remnants in the "Apps Listing" that will not allow being uninstalled. It shows as 00B on all "storage" and is "Disabled". Being from IT, I like things clean and tiddy. This remnant refuses to uninstall, I've even looked everywhere it could reside using ES File Explorer, nothing. HOW do I get rid of this stinker??
Second: I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have to ask again if not. There are Apps that are put on the device from the factory, buried somewhere in the OS, that aren't "free" apps after a ridiculously short "Trial Period". I want to remove them, they're using up storage space and I don't use them. One in particular with an absurd 7 day free trial is PRESS READER. I want it off! I downloaded an Uninstaller called "Root Uninstaller APK", but it shows nothing that any other Uninstaller does and Press Reader is not shown.
How do you move all apps with root but without partition. I saw it was possible but I do not understand. HTC Explorer A310e.

It will cost you but the devs deserve the donate cause it's not an easy task to get a working 3d launcher on droid let alone one that runs good.

I'm writing a user-app that allows the user to upload pics using a service. The service can be used by multiple user-apps, not just mine. I'd like to have the service being installed in its own apk, instead of bundling it with each user-app. Has anyone had experience with this scenario? What is the best scenario i should implement so that the user downloads the service that the user-app needs? Can be this be done automatically (that would be best)?
