General :: HTC One M7 - Not Backed Up SMS Database Intact After Flashing New Rom
May 24, 2014
I just performed a full wipe of my HTC One M7 and flashed a new rom. Once it was done I downloaded Titanium backup from the Play Store and restored all my backed up data. Note that I didn't back up my SMS messages with Titanium, just my SMS app, Textra.
Once it was done I opened up Textra and all my messages were sitting there just as they were before the wipe.
I'm pretty sure that Google doesn't backup things like SMS messages, so where did they come from?

I have a database where I store two different kinds of data. One table is for favorite routes, the other stores the retrieved routes from a server.
I can retrieve the routes etc just fine. But after retrieving the first Route, pressing back or HOME, and then retrieving another route, the routes table is filled with all the old routes plus the new ones.
So my question: how do I delete ONLY the routes table and not the whole database because I don't want to delete the added favorites?
I found the following function in the android docs:
public int delete (String table, String whereClause, String[] whereArgs) and I tried to implement it, but I must pass a SQLiteDataBase as an argument. But how?
I implemented: public void deleteTableRoutes(SQLiteDataBase db){ db.delete("routes", null, null);}
But I want to call this function from a different class where I have no reference to the database.. so what do I have to pass as an argument? Or how do I get a reference to my database?
I build my database upon the code example of the NotePadExample from the dev docs. How to solve this problem?
This is an extract of my class from where I want to call deleteTableRoutes(...)

My One X has been horrible with battery so I took it upon myself to reset it back to factory. I exported my texts to an email through the phone and I figured everything else was being backed up to my gmail account like it states in the 'backup and reset" section. But low and behold, I've got squat coming back after doing a reset. Is there some special trick to restoring a backup or am I hosed?

After installing a new rom I checked the 'keep my phone backed up with google' check box and it started installing apps that I hadn't used for ages. Now I dont want these apps so I reflashed and didnt tick the box but my question is, is there a way to view a list of the apps that are backed up and possible delete some of them from the computer?
If not, what is a way to manage these? Im guessing that I could start with a fresh rom, let it install the backed up apps, then manually uninstall them and let it sync back again - would that work?

I'm using rubix 1.8.6 rom and really like it but I cant use the HDMI out with this and I just bought REAL HDMI from the market to watch streams from my phone on my TV. Anyone know any patches or apps that would activate it on Rubix? Or any roms that keep the HDMI function intact?

I'm trying to make an image darker, but the image has some pixels transparent. I want to keep those pixels intact. I tried DARKEN and couple other filters, but they seem to alter transparent pixels as well.
Do you know if there is a way to keep transparent pixels intact while applying a color filter?

I just rooted my phone a bit ago and tried a few different roms on Rom Manager. I got to the Ultimate Droid 10 New Era or something one and now I'm stuck in a bootloop. It keeps loading the UD circle and flipping it then goes blank and repeats. What do I need to do to get it out of this? edit- I held X while turning it on to get into the clockwork menu and nandroid to try to restore the boot but it still didn't work. Was still looping the Ultimate Droid boot screen. edit again- I went back to that menu and restored system this time. Still loops but its the original droid boot screen now.

All the apps I have downloaded to my Pulse are backed up onto my SD card. Can I just pop my card into my new Desire and use Astro (or some such thing) to copy them all or do I need to start again from scratch?

I just had my phone stolen, but I copied the whole SD onto my PC beforehand. When I get a new phone, and copy and replace all this data to the new phone, how much is it like the original phone then? Are the settings, placement of everything, etc. all the same or how does that work?

I'm using Titanium Backup to backup and restore my apps whenever I switch to a new ROM, and I was wondering: is it possible to have it automatically have it install apps without me having to manually hit "install" then "done"? I hate it cuz I could be restoring 40+ apps and I'd have to manually hit "install" for every one.

After performing a factory reset (which by the way did NOT require me to reactivate my phone, idk why) I reinstalled Tibu first to reinstall my apps and it tells me I have 0 backed up apps, even thought they are there on my sdcard in the TitaniumBackup folder.

Has anyone got an example of how to write a ContentProvider that gets its data from somewhere other than a SQLLite database? Mine is half working, in so much as I can retrieve the requested data and apparently populate a MatrixCursor, but I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do with the 'projections' parameter supplied to the 'query()' method.

I rooted my Droid X yesterday, used Titanium Backup to backup all apps + system data, reset to factory defaults (still rooted it seems), then tried to restore the bloatware apps. Now the bloatware wont reinstall from Titanium, but regular apps do. Am I missing something or will this take a bit of work to get these bloatware apps back on so I can get to 2.2? Can it be done with Astro FIle Manager? I don't see how to set permissions.

Does anyone have the original recovery image backed up somewhere? The external speaker on my i7500 crapped out and when I take it to get serviced I'd rather them not say "custom recovery, custom rom...your warranty is void."

Rom Manager tells me "Goophone i5 does not have an officially supported ClockworkMod Recovery yet. Have you installed a ClockWorkMod recovery manually?"... If I say Yes it asks me to confirm Version 2.x or 3.x+. I don't know if a CWM was installed manually. What should I do?
I can't see a recovery file on the SD card.
