View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!
I'm developing a simple application for the Google Android to turn on and off the wifi or 3g or 2g. id/net/wifi/WifiManager.html#setWifiEnabled(boolean) to turn on and off the wifi. I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same for 3G and for 2G/GPRS? I know it's possible because you can turn off 3G and left 2G on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm going away few days (Volcano permitting) and was just wondering if I use Google Maps outside of the UK will I need mobile internet.
Can I use Google Maps with the GPS turned on and the mobile internet turned off?
This is my first post and it comes with some questions:
First and foremost at random times my 3G is turned off even though I haven't turned it off...go into the setting and it says its still on. Only way to turn it back on is to turn it off and then turn it back on? Any ideas just a problem with the phone maybe. Didn't know if anyone has encountered this problem
Second is there and application that I can use that will let me select what things will startup with a reset of the phone? Also is there an easy way to reset the phone without a battery pull? I just like to do this when Unistalling apps and installing apps...always seems faster after downloading or Unistalling after I do this.
So the pictures I take sync with google drive, but not the screenshots.
I am using a samsung galaxy s4, i9505.
I put the app on my 9900 and tried to sync the phone's calendar to a gmail account I created. Everything looked like it worked ok, but the gmail calendar still contains no entries. In the Blackberry, the calendar entries are under ("send using") a non-gmail email account. Is there a better way to transition contacts and calendar entries for a move to android?
If I add a new entry in my calendar using the gmail account as the "send using" email account, it will load the entry into the gmail account. Then if I turn off "wireless synchronization" for the gmail account in the calendar options, it stops sending it twice and duplicating the entry in both the gmail and handheld calendars. woohoo.
So it does sync, but I suspect I need to access the calendar entries for the non-gmail accounts from gmail on the PC side for future transfer to new android device.
I want to be able to sync Google searches done on my laptop to my phone. So if I search for best places to eat in Washington DC with my laptop using chrome, I want it to appear in the recent search results history when I open the Google search app. Is this possible?
Right now, when I open the Google search app it only shows the history of searches done on my phone. I have gone into the settings of search and selected show recent search history, but it still only shows searches done from my phone.
I have a verizon galaxy s3 running jellybean 4.1.
This has been a problem since google music first became available. It only seems to sync one way (desktop to cloud). If I delete a song in my music folder it remains in Google music. Same happens if I edit a songs tags. Is there any way to get it to sync both ways. The desktop program says it's "monitoring" my music folder so why is it not deleting songs out of the cloud when I delete them from my desktop?

Back when the Evo first came out, it was possible to turn off the Sense UI and use the stock Android. This option was deleted after the first update. Does anyone know if the option has been restored with the Froyo update?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI couldn't update or download any new apps from the Google Play store, + everytime I try to connect to it, it says Connection Timed Out.I can browse the internet through chrome fine, but I can't use Youtube, or Play anymore. I've tried reseting it and switching to a different account.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Vivid. Google contacts are set to sync. I also my outlook contacts using HTC sync (or MyPhoneExplorer). I used to have ~1300 contacts in Google. I now have 16. Everytime I restore my contacts, they are soon gone. I made a google contact yesterday and it is now gone. The destruction seems to happen when I sync with outlook.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a HTC One X and noticed that there was an error syncing with my Google account. When I checked it out, my "Sync Internet" is failing. Then I remembered that on my Logitech Revue with Honeycomb had the same issue.
What exactly is "Sync Internet" and how come it is failing on more than one device?
Here's the thing, if i set an event in my Google calender & set it to "Remind" me, then all it does is display it on notification area. Is there any option to have an actual alarm before the event ?
I was wondering if there is an app with real "reminder" (alarm) function for calender events set on your Goolge Calender (the one like on old Nokia phones).
Error Message: Unfortunately, google calendar sync has stopped.
What did NOT work:Clearing the Cache
Changing calendars
Factory reset
Cause:
The problem appears to be synchronization with Outlook via a 3rd party application called Sync2.
When the Problem Appears: Whenver an annually repeating event (Birthday, Anniversary) is created in Outlook, then sync'd.
Whenever an annually repeating event created in the Google Calendar or Android Phone calendar is MODIFIED by Outlook, then re-sync'd.
Additional Information:
I tried this several times, and if all edits are made on the phone or in Google Calendar, everything works fine. If ANYTHING is changed in Outlook though, the problem recurrs.
I do not know if this happens with other Third-Party sync software.
-To test your system, I recommend the following method:Open your Calendar in Outlook
-Create a folder on your Desktop to temporarily store your Annual Calendar items during testing
-In Outlook, view your Calendar as a LIST. (In 2010, click the View tab, then in the Current View section, select -Change View, and select LIST from the available items. 2003 had similar functionality, but I don't remember the steps to get there.)
-Scroll down the list to the section that says "Recurrance: Yearly". Select all items in there and drag them to the folder on your desktop which you just created. This will COPY the items so they can be recovered later if you want.
-Delete the items you just copied from Outlook.
-Re-sync your Outlook calendar, then wait a couple minutes and re-sync your phone.
-If the error doesn't appear, you know you've isolated the problem!
-If you need to recover your events, you can drag them out of the folder you created (they will appear as .MSG files) and drop them back on your Outlook calendar list.
I want to sync my calendar on my S3 to google. Hell it took me a couple hours to figure out how to sync my contacts from phone to gmail...nobody gives straight answers on some of this stuff. So again, how can I sync my calendar to gmail/google? I have it checked, tell it to sync, no errors or anything, but I think its only syncing from web to phone on the calendar and this is my issue, I just want to have my contacts and calendar out there as I just had to go thru hell to get contacts from my dead iphone to my new S3...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI get emails to my yahoo account from an organization that puts links in its emails.
I have to click on some of these links to email the organization. Clicking one of these links opens up an email with a form I have to fill out.
I'm having a problem using my yahoo email because of something google does involving sync. This is on my nexus 7 which I bought in 2012.When I click on a link in an email, a full-screen window opens up that says
Gmail Account not synced / This account isn't set up to sync automatically.
Touch Sync Now to sync mail once, or Change Sync Settings to set up this account to sync mail automatically.
At the bottom of the screen it has "Sync now" and "Change sync settings" buttons.
I don't want to have to sync; I would just like to avoid or opt out of the whole thing and use the computer normally, without any interference from google. But for what it's worth, I have tried syncing. It never works. I have gone into settings and tried changing sync on and off, I have tried logging out of my gmail account, rebooting; I can never get the link to work. Always the window pops up when I click on an email link.
I have tried copy-pasting the link to the url window (same thing happens). I have copy-pasted it into a text editor and examined it. It has mailto followed by the organization's email address and a string of commands that creates the form-letter body of the email. I need that form letter, I can't just open a blank email to the organization.
I don't use Chrome on my desktop but I do have a ton of bookmarks stored in Google bookmarks, part of Google labs I believe. Is there anyway to sync them with my device? I should mention my PC is down so the answer can't be to use chrome on my desktop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Google Calendar App syncs google calendar appointments just fine. But "Corporate" accounts, which include my Hotmail and GroupWise calendars, won't sync calendar appointments older than two weeks. Even worse: appointments from older than two weeks ago actually drop off.
On settings, I have it set to sync all. I tried adding and removing accounts. I tried deleting calendar memory/cache. I have even tried returning my Nexus 7. The replacement has the same issue.
Is there a way to download apps without using Google account and sync? Is there a way to download, for example, dolphin mini hd without android market or appbrain?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI managed to configure my hotmail and google calendars to sync via the built-in email app on my Transformer... no problem; but there appears to be a limit in place in Exchange that prevents the sub-calendars from syncing. (I've seen indications that using Outlook as a middleman might work.)

I have the phone running Android 2.3.4 (rooted).I have two Google accounts setup on my phone. I use both of them as there are apps purchased from both accounts.
I would like to sync contacts from my phone to BOTH the accounts. As of now, contacts are being synced to just one Google Account. In the "Accounts and Sync", I see both the Google Accounts listed, with the "Sync Contacts" option enabled for both accounts.
Is it possible to sync contacts to both GOOGLE accounts from the phone? If yes, how?
I have Sprint and an integrated google voice number. I also have a tablet I use to send/receive GVoice messages. Problem is, only the received messages will show up on my phone...any message sent through GVoice isn't there. Ps, I understand WHY, just looking for a way to get around it.
Is there any app/technique available (searched FOREVER) that will allow my phone to sync up with the sent messages from GVoice? Essentially, I want to be able to have a gvoice only conversation on the tablet and have the same conversation show up on the phone.
