I'm trying to enable the active scanning mode on my HTC Desire but still got no luck. I've forced Android and wpa supplicant to go in to active mode. I've retraced this and the forcing works but when wpa supplicant tries to set the driver in active mode it always got set in passive mode and I can't force it in to active mode.
Any way to force an android device to scan active for wifi networks? It doesn't mind if It's on another device. I'm desperate to get it to work.
And I know it's not power efficient but that's not the goal. The only goal is to scan as fast as possible. Scanning in active mode should make this possible.
I am working on a capstone project for school, what i need is to be able to take WiFi scans (no need to connect, only scan available network BSSID and signal Levels) quickly.
Currently, the Android API takes up to 5 seconds for a scan. Is there something i can do to improve my scan rate?
I recently bought a Plantronics bluetooth. I went through the setup (as described in the bluetooth manual and my HTC Eris manual. It shows the bluetooth as "working" by the symbol at the top of my screen however, it's not allowing me to use it. It's fully charged, light blinking. When I clicked "scan for bluetooth" it didn't find it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it generally possible to have Wifi Tethering turned on (creating a Hotspot) and at the same time scanning for Wifi devices? I want several devices just discover (NOT connect) each other and log the signal strength. To do that all devices must be discoverable over Wifi and at the same time discover others.
I would just need that for some specific use case..
I am trying out this code for scanning wifi networks but getting null pointer exception not sure what problem I registered all permission in manifest.
IntentFilter i = new IntentFilter();
i.addAction(WifiManager.SCAN_RESULTS_AVAILABLE_ACTION);
registerReceiver(new BroadcastReceiver(){
@Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
Log.i(TAG, "opening wifimanager");
WifiManager mWifiManager = (WifiManager) context.getSystemService(Context.WIFI_SERVICE);
mWifiManager.getScanResults();
} } ,i);
mWifiManager.startScan();
I own a Galaxy Note (GT-N7000). Suddenly the IMEI went null/null and baseband unknown. Tried many things to recover from this but nothing seemed to work. I left the phone with the latest stock rom (Jellybean 4.1.2)
I then installed EFS Professional (rooting the phone first and installing BusyBox) and could connect to the phone with EFS Pro. I tried doing baseband and IEMI repair, and though the log showed it had successfully restores from .bak files in /efs partition, IMEI and baseband were still null.
So then I totally screwed it, hitting the "format EFS partition" by mistake (it was 3am by then) and didn't make a backup first. The phone wouldn't boot, so I flashed the latest stock rom again and now it continually loops when showing the Samsung logo when I turn it on. I can turn it on in download mode and recovery mode. When on recovery mode, it says /efs partition not found so I guess that makes sense.
The question here would be: is there any way I can fix it without sending it to service? Some options that sound possible:
- Flash the phone with some other custom ROM that would repartition the whole phone, thus creating an /efs partition again
- Use some nice software to recover the /efs partition
I'm sure that if a service can fix it, there should be a way I could do it as well.
I know my IMEI number (it's in the sticker on the back of the phone) so there should be a way to restore it into de efs partition, right?
I have Asylum ROM on my GT-N7000 and i was thinking of using SLIM. do i need to restore my GT-N7000 back to the factory ROM before i can use the SLIM ROM on it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a note 1 N7000, and each time the screen began flickering and after that it shut down. This got worse after flashing a cyanogenmod rom. By plugging in the charger the battery seemed empty, but wasn't. After a while the battery indicator used to show charged 70 % or more. Put the charger cable off and the situation repeated after a short time of usage. Last night it started turning off at boot and wouldn't turn on unless on charge. I flashed a original JB rom since the problem doesn't happen when on recovery/download mode. but now it does it even when connected on charge.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my Galaxy Note GT-N7000 to CyanogenMod 10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2) the other week. I don't know if it is related to the upgrade or not, but the phone no longer recognises the external SD card. I have tried three different cards (all 8GB), including a brand new class 10 bought this morning to test it. I've attached pictures of the storage page on the phone, showing that the phone sees the internal storage okay, and seems to recognise that there is an external card in (the "Space" and "Available" figures are correct), but that the mounting option is greyed out. I have checked all three cards in my Galaxy camera, which sees them okay. In addition, I booted into recovery mode (Vol+, Home, power) to see if the card was being recognised at that level, and I could see all the folders on the card then.
I have spent the last three hours searching for solutions, but there is nothing of use except "the SD card is corrupt", which clearly isn't the case here since I've got three cards that all work in another Android device.

How possible would it be to make them connect with WiFi / Bluetooth? Have them both ring when a phone-call comes in and make it not matter which you pick up? Stay connected to the internet on both phones when one loses signal? (living on the border between Belgium and the Netherlands, when one has internet, the other one probably doesn't) Share audio with 1 Bluetooth headset? Do you know a way to make any of these happen?

I bought a Galaxy Note GT-N7000 in Indonesia. (PDA: N7000DXLC2, PHONE: N7000DXLC1, CSC: N7000OLBLC2). The installed languages are asian languages (+English), so I would like to change the firmware to a European version, since I would like to have Hungarian language on the phone (especially but not only because I would like to be able to type messages with Swype). My plan is to change to this one: N7000XXLA6, N7000OXXLA1
The question: The new firmware belongs to a different location than the old one.

The wifi on my phone Samsung Galaxy Chat will not turn on all of a sudden. Same is the issue with Bluetooth.
The wifi button in the drop down screen is kind of greyed out and when settings is opened the [off-on] is greyed out. In wifi settings it just says "turning on...".
All firmware up to date. Phone isnt damaged or dropped. I have restarted the phone many times and also performed factory reset twice and cleared the cache too.
Often times "like aboard an airplane" there's someone you want to talk with, but can't, because they're in a different seat. Is there any app that would allow people to:
a) send messages to other Android phones via bluetooth
b) sent messages by connecting to a common wifi network (yet not connected to the internet)
c) create an ad-hoc network and send messages that way.
Would any of those be feasible at all?
I just bought a unlocked galaxy note and I had to to get my access point names right so I could use my data form AT&T. I'm ready to rooted my phone and flash a ics firmware (rom) on my samsung galaxy note N-7000. when I flash, will my access point names be ok. I've already went ahead and copy on paper the way they are now so I wont lose them.
P.S. Your access point names are how you get your data from your cell phone provider such as at&t, sprint, boost mobile, etc etc. It has nothing to do with your wi-fi.
