View 1 RepliesI have been trying for weeks to try and tether my XBL with my Android. I have been trying it wireless type and wired. The wireless type I've been using the WiFi tether app along with the xbl WiFi. When I turn on the WiFi router on the XBL, the Droid tether shows up and connects just fine, however, It will not connect the profile to xbl. Any one have any ideas here ?
The other I've been trying to get to work is doing the wired route and by going into all my settings and changing them over like you would doing the open server deal. I dunno threw the properties and adding the XBL ports. Now the problem I have with this I can change just about every port to one another by port 2 and port 5. Port 2 needs to be 53 TCP / UCP < that one. When I switch to accept it tells me that I have the same ports being used. I've tried this method on a friends computer who is using Windows 7 and it works just fine changing ports wise.
At work I can use my android devices for surfing but as soon as i try to use a app like a game that needs internet it wont work. How can I find out the ports app uses and is there any workaround for this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using two ics phones, Galaxy Nexus and Htc Sensation stock roms. I am trying to connect to my DVR devices through a 3g router using well known network ports numbers (>1024) for the dvr devices.
The network consist of 3 devices:
3g router: my domain com : 80
Dvr Device1: my domain com : 7687
Dvr Device2: my domain com : 5054
I can connect to the 3g router which is listening to port 80 from my android phones but not to the dvr devices using a 3g network.
But I can connect using the android phones if they are connected to a WIFI network or an Iphone (2g,3g,wifi), a Nokia symbian phone (2g,3g,wifi) or a Pc using adsl internet connection.
There isn't a port forward issue since I can connect from every device except android phones.
How can I find out the ports different apps use? And can i reroute them some how?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Android phone is soft bricked it is an VS870 LG 4G Lite Lucid II.
This is the second time my phone becomes bricked due to my last incident with my samsung. It has nothing to do with it being rooted, but uninstalled some apps in the phone which I thought had nothing to do with the system. IDK last one I uninstalled was zappos. I know how to un-brick my phone, but my only problem is getting the phone to be recognized by my computer. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers, removing the battery from the phone, using different USB ports still no luck . Could it be that the battery percentage went below 75%? if so I have no way else to charge, it does not seem to charge anymore?
how to find permissions a given application has. Each app is run as a certain user, so wouldn't finding the file permissions of an app be the same as finding the file permissions of a user? On Linux/Unix there is the find command but I don't know of any alternative command that is available on android. I am running KitKat 4.4.2 kernal 3.40-gadb2201.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone know what special ports android uses to browse the web? Of course it must be port 80, but there has got be an additional port or something. My web server is accessible via computer browsers but not by android unless I turn off the software firewall. Something about the android connection, the firewall doesn't like.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAssuming I have a USB device I want to attach to a N1, would it be usable? Lets assume I have the drivers or can write them to interact with the device. Is the support for USB that extensive on Android devices? I can find information about making the phone a host, charging, ect, but I can't find information beyond that.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was looking at the API, and Ive tried to determine this:
On a given port, check if it's available or already some application listens to it.
I've had an inquiry about whether my Android app can interface with a serial device via USB cable. Before I invest too much time in this path, I'd like to know: Is this even possible? Some previous threads indicate Android won't do host USB. Would it require root access and/or the NDK? Would it be better to advise the potential client to look for a serial blue tooth adapter? I can see that there is a Blue tooth Sock class which may do the job.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am playing around a bit with peer-to-peer communication with android devices.I have written a basic program that creates a listening ServerSocket on each phone using the application. Using the application you can also connect to other devices that is listening, by connecting to the remote ServerSocket. Nothing strange about that.My problem is that it seems that the listening port is not open for connection on different devices. I can connect to my HTC Desire, works like a charm. But connecting to a HTC Hero I get timeout, same if I try to connect to the emulator. But connection FROM the emulator to the Desire and FROM the Hero to the Desire works like a charm. Whats up with this? No security apps is installed and both devices(and the emulator) is running 2.1.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've published an app today mainly for my forum users to use, just a very simple app that displays wallpapers derived from the forum. Problem I'm having is one guy says it doesn't appear in the market and I've even sent him the APK to install manually but it fails. My minimum SDK version is 4, I created it with the 1.6 SDK specified so not sure why he can't see it or install it. He has a 1.6 Magic handset. So just wondering if anyone has any ideas, the app is called bocn wallpaper, it uses internet and set-wallpaper permissions but I wouldn't have thought the permissions were the problem.
My manifest is as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0" package="net.dbws.bocnwallpaper">
<application android:icon="@drawable/launcher_icon" android:label="@string/app_name">
<activity android:name=".Main" android:label="@string/app_name">
<intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter> </activity>
<meta-data android:value="xxxxx" android:name="ADMOB_PUBLISHER_ID" />
</application>
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"></uses-permission>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.SET_WALLPAPER" />
</manifest>
