View 1 Replies View RelatedI use my phone daily in a non-Verizon network, so having Data Roaming enabled is very important for me. The new ROM I installed, however, does not have a menu option for enabling/disabling Data Roaming.
Any way to do this through script? Or maybe there is something that can be changed in "build.prop" (or another file) that would change the default setting of Data Roaming disabled to be enabled?
When my screen times out after 1 min. I have to press the on / off key, to wake up.
Is there a way to assign this to the menu button?
Was this option removed or am I doing something wrong? Now I have to slide the dumb thing off the screen to unlock...

1st off, I am brand new to Android, have had this phone for 1 day.
All instructions I find say 1 of 2 things, either tap and hold the home screen until I see a "+add widgets", or swipe left to right until I see the menu button. I also read that the menu button should look like 3 vertical bars.
Tapping and holding the home screen only gives me options to add wallpapers, nothing else. I cannot find anything like a menu button. When I go into settings I can find nothing that has to do with adding widgets.
How to find this menu button, what the icon for menu will look like?
Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean
So as you might already know, Google is trying to kill the hard menu button by integrating a soft menu button inside all apps.
Is there a way to disable this? I'm running the latest cyanogen (i9300) and I can't find a way to disable it. It just takes space and I don't even use it.

Im having an issue with my gmail notifications. I still want to receive gmail notifications on my home screen (the app icon where the image shows how many emails) however I dont want it to play a sound.
I googled how to remove the sound, but all the walk throughs start with tapping a 'menu' button (three vertical square dots) at the bottom left in the gmail app. I dont see this menu button - see image below
I tried to re-implement what HTC did with the One X, One S, etc, where they have physical back, home, recent apps keys, and a virtual menu button pops up under apps that need a menu button. I don't have an Android device, so I was only able to test it under the emulator, I have only tested it with the Facebook app, but it seems to work fine.
The patch is against AOSP 4.1.1, to activate it in the emulator, set hw.mainKeys=yes and hw.menuButton=no in hardware.ini. For a real device, you'd need to set config_showNavigationBar to false and config_showLegacyMenuButton to true.
Because this is just a proof of concept, it pops up the entire ICS navigation bar with all four buttons instead of just the menu button. But that's not hard to fix.
I am a new developer.I wanna know how can I add a side bar menu (just like Google Keep) to my App. (I have chosen the API7).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've installed several apps that are supposed to have features that I can't even find. For example, I installed "Writer". This is supposed to have text formatting features (bold, italic, font size). But, after highlighting some text, I can't find anything that triggers a "Format" menu. A long tap on selected text will bring up a Cut & Paste menu. But if there's a Format menu, I haven't found it, yet.
I'm using Writer as an example, but I've tried half a dozen apps now that are listed as having certain features. Sometimes the program menu is the little checkerboard icon next to the Honeycomb task switcher at the bottom of the screen, but on many apps this menu is empty of anything useful. Some programs have an icon on the top of the screen that triggers a menu, but on others I've tapped on everything I can find and found no extra controls.
Is there some common screen gesture that I haven't discovered yet? Are developers listing future features that don't exist yet? Did Gingerbread have some context menu feature that's missing in Honeycomb? And is there some reason developers don't bother to provide a paragraph or two explaining how to use their product?
btw - I have an Acer A100 7 inch tablet, running generic Honeycomb 3.2 and downloading apps from GooglePlay. My device doesn't have a hardware Menu button, maybe that's the problem?
I wanted to know is there a way to change which app launches when you long press the menu button? Currently it's Google search.
I'm on a rooted Xperia S, if that matters.
I have recently upgraded to Android 4.0.4 on my samsung galaxy s2. I used the ressurection remix rom 1.9
I have noticed that although holding down the menu button will go to google search from the main screen, it no longer works in certain apps that used to work before the upgrade. In fact it doesnt seem to work in any apps.
My phone was working just fine and randomly the lock button stopped working and the home button brings up the power screen!
