I have ListView, where each row contains two edittext boxes. I'd like on list item selected(using Dpad) place focus on first edittext box. I tried the following code, but it does not work: ListView list = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list); OnItemClickListener click_listener = new OnItemClickListener() {public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id){EditText box1= (EditText ) view.findViewById(R.id.box1); box1.requestFocus(); return ;} list.setOnItemClickListener(click_listener);}

I am trying to set up a ViewFlipper that changes a SlidingDrawers content each time a button is pressed. So far every view I set up worked fine, but now I am trying to create a ListView (including single_choice_mode) within a child view of the ViewFlipper, but my attempt only let to a NullPointerException. As I only discovered ViewFlipper today, I am not yet familiar with it and may not have understood it completely. if someone could give me a hand and help me find out what I have done wrong, that would be great. Here is what I have done:
The code for the onClick event of the ImageButtons:
public void onClick(View v){
if (v == btnExposure){
mFlipper.setDisplayedChild(0); }
else if (v == btnProperties){
mFlipper.setDisplayedChild(1);}
else if (v == btnSpecialEffects){
mFlipper.setDisplayedChild(2);.............

I have a simple ListView and on that ListView I have placed a number of custom defined Views. The CustomView has ImageView and two TextViews.
The CustomView also has a "stateful drawable" as background, so that the background image (a 9-patch) changes if you press the Row in the ListView. When pressing the Row, the background image changes to a Red-ish thing.
The problem is that when the background changes from the default greyish, all the Views in the CustomView (ImageView and TextViews) still have their greyish background and thus creates very ugly greay boxes on top of the now redish background.
What is the best way to solve that problem? I hoped that such things were handled automatically (as it is done in for example .NET), but I was wrong it seems.

I have a WebView inside the ScrollView. The content of WebView dyanamically changes when it displays different html page. I have the following issue: For example I have A.html, and B.html. The content of B.html is larger than A.html, so the page is longer. When WebView load B.html, the ScrollView stretches its size to enable itself scroll for B.html, then if I go back to A.html, ScrollView doesn't resize itself. (The scroll area is exceed the content of A.html) What I want to have, is dynamic change the scroll area of scroll view to fit the webview's content.

I have a HorizontalScrollView with a series of CompoundButtons. I want to find the (x,y) for a given child view. I have tried using:
getLocationOnScreen()
getLocalVisibleRect()
getChildVisibleRect()
like this:
View tmpView = this.findViewById(viewId);
Rect hitRect = new Rect();
tmpView.getLocalVisibleRect(hitRect);
the hitRect is always 0,0 - 0,0.
I need the x,y mainly to scroll to a particular child view. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My activity has a set of buttons on the left half of the screen and a ListView on the right.Initially the focus is on the first button. When I browse the buttons by pressing DOWN arrow key and then press the RIGHT arrow key, the focus does not go to the topmost list item. Instead, the list item correspondingly on the right gets focused.Is there a way that when I press the RIGHT arrow key, the focus goes to the topmost item on the Listview?

I am trying to populate a ViewFlipper with a ListView when a certain button is clicked...but I only get a NullPointerException for lv.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.specialeffectsview, specialEffects)); To be honest I don't really know how to do this, I just learned about the ViewFlipper today and I haven't fully understood how to use it yet. If anyone could help me find how what I have done wrong, that would be great.
Here is the code I use:
public void onClick(View v){ if (v == btnExposure){
mFlipper.setDisplayedChild(0);
else if (v == btnProperties){ mFlipper.setDisplayedChild(1); }
else if (v == btnSpecialEffects){ mFlipper.setDisplayedChild(2); String[] specialEffects = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.special_effects_array); lv.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.specialeffectsview, specialEffects)); lv.setChoiceMode(ListView.CHOICE_MODE_SINGLE); }

I am on Android 2.1 and I have one multi column Custom listview Using BaseAdapter with an editable edittext at the end of the listview. If the data in the listview do not contain the data of user choice then user should be able to enter data. If the data is already there in the list user will be able to select the data using custom selector. If a selection is made in the list view and user wanted to enter data in the text field at the bottom after selection then the marker in the list view should be unselected. I tried to use onclick() method on edit text using click listener. First time when it is clicked, edit text is getting focus and onclick() method is not fired. And when it is clicked second time, onclick() method is fired and notifyDataSetChanged() method is called. I tried to call the notifyDataSetChanged() method from the Focus Listener, list view selection is gone in my first attempt and edit text is not receiving any data input from the keyboard (frozen).

I have a list view which contains different numbers and i have a button below with the name "Call". The expected spec is to change the button background to blue, only if user clicks on list item, and if user clicks on some other views, i need to change the button background to white.
My work around for this issue:
I have set onfocusChangeListener() for the list live, but onFocusChanged() is getting called if next view gets the focus.
Expected result:
1) Background of the button should change to blue if user clicks on list child item.
2) Background of the button should change to white if user clicks on other views.

Im trying to change background color when an item is selected. Something like using a color selector, but actually it crashes. I've created a list_selector.xml inside /res/color/.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"><item android:state_focused="true" android:color ="@ color/ plain_yellow"/><item android:state_pressed="true" android:state_enabled="false" android:color ="@color /plain _yellow" /><item android:state_enabled="false" android:color="@color/ plain_yellow" /><item android: state_active="true" android:color="@color/ plain_yellow" /><item android:color="@android: color/ transparent" /></selector> plain_yellow is a color i've defined in /res/values. I've tried to assign that selector programatically and using the xml, but the app crashes. Am i doing something wrong?

I am working on an application where I need to display some locations on a map and in a list view where the user should be able to toggle between these views(activities?). I want the toggle button(s) to be in my custom titlebar like in the images (if they are attached). What is the best practice for this? Tab view seems like a solution but can I customize the tab buttons? Should the map and list be in different activities or the same? Now I have two different activities one extending MapActivity and one extending ListActivity but no way to toggle between them. Is it possible to load activities into a FrameLayout?

I have a ListView that I'm populating from a custom ListAdapter. Inside the Adapter (in the getView(int, View, ViewGroup) method) I'm setting the background color of the View using setBackgroundColor(int). The problem is that no matter what color I set the background to it always comes out a dark grey. It might also be worth noting that I'm using the Light theme.

I have, for the time being, a custom view with a 9-patch image as a border.
That custom view is placed three times in a LinearLayout, so it looks like this:
+------------------------+
CustomView
+------------------------+
CustomView
+------------------------+
CustomView
+------------------------+
I have attached a click event listener to the View, so it is clickable. But then I click it, I cant see that I am clicking it - there is no change in color.
So, Im thought that I'd attach a "onPress" listener, and then change the background of the view but I couldnt find such a listener.
So, the question is - how do I create the behaviour on the View so I can see that it is being pressed? this is normally done in Android with a green background to indicate that it is now being pressed.
