Is there a way to control media volume only for foreground app when there is multiple audio streams For example, when i play a game and listening to a music and press vol+ while in game i want to increase only game media volume.

My dad somehow changed his volume control, so it only affects the media volume. Any clue on how to change it back? Instead of Ringer Volume, it says Media Volume on the box that pops up when pressing the volume controls.

What I am trying to do is make it so all notifications are at 10% volume during the night, but Id like to make notifications from Google Talk louder, like at 50%. I haven't been able to find anything that would allow a rule like that, but thought Id ask since you guys seem to know everything!
I'm writing an Android application that plays back voice mails using Media Player, which are just WAV files that have been sent to the device. When I play the file, it's played on the device's speaker, or else it plays through headphones if they're plugged in. What I want to do is play the file so that it sounds to the user as if it's at the same volume level as a normal phone call. Is there a way to route playback so that the file is played through the phone's ear piece instead of out of the speaker?

So, I am doing audio recording using MediaRecorder, but unfortunately when I playback the recorded audio, I have media with a very low volume. I don't here anything (almost anything).

Does anyone feel that EVO's media audio output volume is low? I am a former iPhone user and IMO there is a noticeable difference in the overall output db level compared to iPhone only when playing audio files like mp3 and .wav. There is just one issue that I would love to gloss over but it's important given that it is a phone so I'd like your input. There was one other thread on this that sounds kind of like what I'm experiencing but I just wanted to be sure before I go in and exchange it.
When I am on a call, it is rather difficult for me to hear the person on the other end. I have the volume turned all the way up but not only is that not that loud but they also sound muffled. If it were one or the other I might be able to deal, but I never had trouble hearing on my BlackBerry and I never had the volume turned all the way up. It's gotten to the point where I'm unknowingly pressing the phone against my ear really hard so I can hear better. Has anyone else noticed that callers sound muffled? Should I exchange it?
My X10i has really low audio volume when using my bluetooth headset. The same headset when paired with my old trusty Sony Ericsson K610i worked fine. I have also tried with a Sony Ericsson Elm and that was ok. Is there anyway to increase the volume on the X10i? Any SW patches, apps or tweaks?
View 3 Replies View RelatedQuestion: The EVO 4G plays an audio file whenever you adjust the ringtone volume with the volume rocker buttons. Does anyone know which file this is and where it's located? Why I'm asking (in case you're interested): I'm one of those that does not like to hit the power button everytime I want to sleep/lock or wake up my phone. It's simply an awkward button for me to hit and I'm afraid I'll wear it out over time or accidentally drop the phone. So, I'm using 'Screen Off' to sleep the phone with homescreen shortcut and 'No Lock' to prevent the phone from going entirely into lock mode. This lets me use the volume rocker buttons to wake the phone. The problem is that each time I hit the button it plays the 'plunk' sound indicating the volume level, which is driving me a little nuts (think Chinese water torture). I've been unable to find a solution to this problem, and am now looking at finding the media/audio file for this and simply replacing it with a silent audio clip. But I searched for all media files in /system, played them each, and couldn't find a match.

I was told by customer service ALL Android phones do this due to the Android operating system. First of all it true? Is there a way to force an Android smart phone to keep the receiving call volume at its intended volume setting and keep the "NEVER" vibrate selection from switching even when pressing the volume button (just want the volume button to control the audio level during a call)? For reasons that are explained here: Alternate Power-off Option? , I am wanting to try a couple of ideas for controlling/modifying the power on/off function of my phone (Sony Xperia Z). I never wanted to root this phone but now it seems like I'm going to have to to give me any fighting chance of getting around the issue I'm currently in.
Anyway, what I need to know is if any of the following things will be possible if I were to root my device:
--- Disable power button from waking screen or doing anything else, and preferably set a combination of keys to be what lights-up the screen, (e.g. nothing will happen on the phone unless for example the volume up key, then volume down key, then power button are pressed in that order). Then, if this is achievable, would it be possible to keep my mobile internet data turned on, while disabling people from calling me, (so that my phone won't ring at all)
--- Edit the power off function on my device so that instead of just turning off, it reboots instead. (However in saying this I would want this function hidden, as in, I want there to be a button that says 'Power Off', but instead of just powering-off, it does a reboot instead).
--- If the above is not possible, is there some sort of light 'sleep' mode that my phone can be put into so that it appears off, however can be automated to turn back on at a set time. (I understand that Android's can't be woken when shut-down because they literally are completely shut down and can't run any apps, but maybe there's a way to have it in a sort of 'sleep' mode where it can be automated to turn on at a set time?)
--- Any other option that will either A) make someone think my phone is turned off when it's actually still on, or B) allow my phone to turn back on automatically at a set time, or do a reboot instead of shut down when 'power off' is chosen.
Recently purchased the Virgin Mobile Supreme (Sprint Vital, ZTE N9810). The one thing that is bothering me is that there is only one volume setting for the combined ringtone and notifications. I would like to set these volumes separately.
I tried one volume control tool, but even though it had 'separate' controls changing ringtone changed notification and vice versa.
is there an app that allows that ? What I want to do is to control an mp3 player with voice while a navigation app is in foreground. I'm in my car with Route66 navigation app running, and would want to go to next track by saying "next".

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a list that contains elements not necessarily occupying the entire width of the screen, but even if using android:layout_width="wrap_content" on my elements, they always behave as if their width value were set to "fill_parent" instead. If I set a fixed value for the width, e.g. "100px", that value is indeed used, but I just can't get wrap_content to work.
Example simple list item:

I bumped into a guy I know the other day and happened to notice he had a HTC desire. We had a brief chat about it and he showed me some of his apps. He had an app that can control torrent downloads on your PC. I forget what it was called. This would be a usefull app.
