View 7 Replies View RelatedGalaxy 3:I5801 with firmware upgraded to 2.2 , was rooted already..I had been trying to upgrade to 2.3.7 with cyanogen 7.2..Clockwork mode recovery was not installed and instead in the normal recovery mode a zip file ,containing the files:META-INF,System and zimage, was renamed as "update.zip"
It did accept the zip and displayed "Welcome to android 2.3.7" but then was stuck displaying "I5801" logo.I am still able to enter the download mode (Vol - | power | home combo) and the "Forced upload by key pressing(vol + | power | home)". I tried usng ODIN to flash , it is flashing and displaying "pass" but no change in the phone .
porting any FOSS Operating system viz debian to playbook. I tried to post franticly in crackberry forum, initial posts were cool. later when i started to throw too much info in hope of reply i got few replies or responses. i am dead serious about porting debian to this device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday i decided to root my xperia tipo, and i did that, and I also did CWM recovery and right after, i tried to install a new ROM. I found some "Xperia Z Fire Series 5 XP [Tipo]" rom and followed the instructions from yt....backed up, wiped everything, wiped cach, wiped the cache in advanced ( cant remember the name ) and than I installed the rom from phone sd memory... it showed as if succesfully installed. Finally, the video guy says that i should reboot the device (the first option in boot window) and to wait as long as it takes.
So I did...I rebooted it and it just turned off...i left it whole night, hoping it will boot up eventually, but it didn't...After I realised it wont, i tried to turn it on, but when i hold the power button, it's just vibrating every few seconds for half a sec as if it will turn on, but it doesn't. The light doesn't turn on, nothing shows up on screen....when i push the volume down and power button at the same time, along with vibrating, the led light goes green every few seconds. When i put the charger in, it doesn't do anything. Only diffrence is that when i put it on the charger and than press volume down and power button, the led light turns green and it doesnt turn off untill i unplugg it. Is this what they meant when they said "bricked phone"?
I rooted my One X a while back and it has been fine and only now I decided to install a ROM.
I went for Cyanogenmod 9 and followed the instructions to install it on my phone.
IT went smoothly and runs okay as far as I can tell apart from Recovery Mode.
Everytime I go to boot into recovery it just starts the phone as usual. It doesn't get stuck on the boot screen or anything, it starts just like normal but it doesn't start in recovery!
I have tried doing to through the Power + Volume Down method and through CLockworkMod app, no luck.
I have also tried to reflash Recovry but it still doesn't start.
I had cwm recovery rom running, but i did not install it. then i installed cyanogenmod. now recovery is cyanogenmod, but i want it to be cwm recovery.
when i boot into recovery, i get cyanogenmod. adb and fastboot commands do not seem to be working. like i cant switch to fastboot via adb reboot bootloader. (is that because i flashed the custom rom???)
google play is not installed yet either because adb and fastboot isnt working like it was before i flashed cyanogenmod. i was going to try to download the cwm rom manager again to install (permanently) cwm recovery rom.
When installing certain custom ROMs on rooted Android smartphones or tablets, you will encounter Status 7″ error issues once in awhile with ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery.Status 7 error is caused while the ROM's updater script file checks to see if the phone model of your phone is compatible with the ROM you are installing, called asserts.
Asserts is a safety mechanism so you don't accidentally install another phone model ROM on your phone. E.g. You tried to install Galaxy S2 ROM on a Galaxy S3 and ending up hard-bricking your phone but you got Status 7 error which saved you.this safety mechanism is great but there are times where even if you have the correct ROM for your phone, you will get Status 7 error.
This is due to an error by the developer of the ROM in the updater script, causing havoc, making people install another custom recovery like TWRP recovery for no reason. You can fix the issue by installing TWRP recovery but if you need to restore your CWM backups later down the line, you will have to re-install CWM recovery, causing a big hassle.
Also, if you update to the latest CWM Recovery using ROM Manager, usually this problem is fixed. But what if you did update to the latest CWM Recovery and still happens? And yes, it does happen even when you update your CWM recovery.
If you simply don't want to change your recovery (because if it ain't broke, don't fix it) or you still get Status 7 error after changing recovery, you can simply edit the updater script yourself to get rid of the asserts. All you need is a computer and a zipping program! (You might be able to even do it on your Android device with AndroZip and text editor but I haven't tried yet.) MAKE SURE THE ROM YOU ARE INSTALLING IS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR ANDROID DEVICE AS INSTALLING WRONG ROM CAN BRICK YOUR DEVICE!
Make sure if you are installing a ROM on AT&T Galaxy S3, the ROM zip file you downloaded is for AT&T Galaxy S3 not for Verizon Galaxy S3.
Step 1. Copy the ROM zip file to your computer and extract it using your favorite unzipping software.
Step 2. Once unzipped, browse to the META-INF/com/Google/android directory. You will find two files called update-binary and updater-script.
Step 3. Rename updater-script to updater-script.txt and open with your favorite text file editor.
Step 4. Get rid of the line starting with assert to next semi-colon. Usually this is the first line or one of the first lines at the top of the text file. Just delete them.
Step 5. Save file.
Step 6. Rename updater-script.txt back to updater-script.
Step 7. Rezip all the files yo've unzipped.
Step 8. Copy the new, edited zip file to your phone.
Step 9. Try re-installing ROM, now it should install fine without Status 7 error.
I have a rooted Acer Liquid MT and I want to know if I can get other phone launchers installed onto my phone, for example the Samsung Galaxy S2 default launcher installed on my phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been lucky enough to been given a Huawei P1 and a P1 XL.
I have managed to root it successfully which is great but the rom on both does not come with Google Apps Suite.
I know it's possible to flash the gapps once rooted and you have a recovery on Huawei's as I have done this on my honour.
The Chinese recovery available for P1 doesn't work on my P1 or XL.
Is there any way to flash the gapps packaged without a recovery or to do it manually?
i had installed an lg rom on my sky vega racer 760s... but after that no touch is working and also no recovery appears after pressing the volume up + search + power on key... what should i do ? ..

I just rooted my new Evo and installed SetCPU, i set up some profiles for when my battery reachs like <25 and i was testing this out at like <75 and noticed that even though the notification shows up as the profile is active, in systempanel app and also even in SetCPU is still shows the cpu reaching core speed of 998 instead of the speed it should be capped at...
So my question is, is setcpu actually working?
I recently came over from using a Blackberry (and using the Blackberry Messenger app), and I am wondering what you all might suggest as an easy way to briefly send quick messages (not using SMS or email) that would be easy to set up on my end and for my Blackberry friends.Currently I do not have any chat systems or instant messaging systems set up (as never used any of that before), so I am hoping you can make your suggestions very simple to understand and set up. I'm somewhat new to all this technology, but I am anxious to learn.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am not tech savy at all and I just pulled this off! I rooted and installed Fresh 2.3.3. I've read that you need to change the "kernel" but dont how to do this. I found this thread [KERNEL][7/22/10]Darchstar's Overclocked Undervolted kernel for senseUI roms vUV 2 - xda-developers but its not making sense either. Also read about SetCPU to increase speed. Can someone please post up links and explanations?
View 11 Replies View RelatedSo, I finally decided to root my Sprint HTC Hero. My handset crashed for some reason and would not boot, so I figured while I had my hard cover pried off to pull the battery, I would give Z4Root a shot. Ironically, it worked without me having to pull my battery. Anyway, as I said, Z4Root worked great, but I after I installed ROM Manager, it keeps giving me an error about not being able to flash the recovery image. Am I doing something wrong here?
View 36 Replies View RelatedI had my phone rooted just running stock 2.2, last night an OTA came to my phone while I was at work, and my brother (doesn't know anything about root) accepted the update. Now whenever I try to do something in Rom Manager I get an error message :"an error occurred while attempting to run privalaged commands." Set CPU does not work, and Super User is still in my app drawer.
Does anyone know whats going on, it appears my phone is no longer rooted, but I still have SU in my app drawer, how can I fix this? Is there a way to completely unroot my phone? or revert back to where I was before the OTA? Everytime I try to load Rom Manager and restore my phone it gets stuck with a picture of a phone and a "!" mark.
I just rooted my samsung galaxy s using RYANZAS Lag fix OCLF 2.2 then i unrooted the phone and i realized that some options in the OCLF Had dissapeared such as Unlag fix etc, im a real n00b in this so i rooted my phone again and now its normal rooted with the lag fix can i unroot it now Will the lag fix stay?

View 26 Replies View RelatedI rooted and installed kaosfroyo and now cannot make or receive calls because my mic is not working. Call can be made but the person on the other end does not hear me.
A few other things are that my wifi and verizon data are not working. When I plug the usb I can't mount the SD card.
On the lock screen it says Sprint in the upper right.
I was running a custom 2.2 rom with clockwork recovery installed via Rom Manager.
Anyways, I started having a few problems so I was going to take it to stock and redo everything.
I have the stock 2.1 sbf file and I put it back to my phone using RSD lite.
It installed fine except it changed my PRL number to some weird higher number and now I can't get my phone to activate because it has the roaming triangle and is roaming on US Cellular.
I reinstalled my custom rom and used rom manager to restore the image I had saved before I recovered and all is well except I cannot activate my phone because I can't see a verizon network.
I even went into the programming menu and replaced the SID, MDN and MIN with all the settings in my Droid X but no dice.
I have found a way to write a new PRL but I can't get the HW virtual port app to work. So basically I am stuck.
I recently got a new droid incredible (my first phone besides the crapy razer) and my friends told me to root it. I used the guides on these fourms, rooted it, and apparently it worked (I have superuser and can download root only apps). The only problem is that everywere, it says recover once you root. Every time I've tried this, it just leads to a black screen with two white lights on each side. I've tried everything to fix it; I've looked at multiple threads and youtube vids, I even found an app that should sent it into Clockwork recovery mod, but even then it still had the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this, or should I just try un-rooting it (maby I did something wrong and it dosent say) and re-rooting it again?
View 31 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted incredible with the hydra kernel. i had the 1.13 and went to the 1.15 over clock kernel and my pone went into a reboot cycle and wouldnt start up. i was told to go to the format boot in the clockwork recovery so i did. now the phone will only start up in the bootloader screen it does the sd card check. any ideas? they are sending me a new phone but i really dont want to re set up the phone.
