View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently came over from using a Blackberry (and using the Blackberry Messenger app), and I am wondering what you all might suggest as an easy way to briefly send quick messages (not using SMS or email) that would be easy to set up on my end and for my Blackberry friends.Currently I do not have any chat systems or instant messaging systems set up (as never used any of that before), so I am hoping you can make your suggestions very simple to understand and set up. I'm somewhat new to all this technology, but I am anxious to learn.

I am a big blackberry fan due to the physical keyboard, and although the new OS is good, im still an android lover when it comes to software
i'm just wondering though, now that their chipset has changed to the snapdragon processor, would this make it any easier to root the device to run a version of android in the future? Or would it be very difficult?
I remember they did it to the HTC device that was on windows 6.5 a while back and the initial process took quite a while, but once some people had android up and running the rest was a breeze
so question is, there is a real lack of high-end phones with physical keyboards and this is one of the reasons i bought the Q10. i do however still love android
I know that Benru89 has made a CM7 port for the Huawei U8650 (the aforementioned being thusly compatible with his ROM). I was wondering, given that there is already a compatible ROM in place, what methods would I need to port a different Android version, namely 4.2.2 onto this device? How does one move up from CM7 to CM10.1.2, essentially?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got the Geeksphome Keon Firefox OS developer preview phone. Although it is a good phone I'm sure it would be better if it could run android and Firefox OS is still in beta. This is what I've worked out so far:
*firefox OS is based on the same kernel as android
*it uses ADB and android fastboot, so they are definitely similar
*thriugh eclipse sdk, one can install an app on ff os but it can't run.
So they definitely aren't too different. Also if you download a build for the Keon it uses the same kind if structure as an android ROM. And there's a .android secure folder in the SD card.

For those of you leaving Blackberry for Android or want to use the two devices together, there is now an easy solution to transfer / sync contacts between the two devices:
Step 1: Install inTouchApp on your Blackberry from App World & create an account IntouchApp Contacts - Backup + Sync + Auto-update - BlackBerry World
Step 2: Install inTouchApp on your Android from Play Store and login [URL] .....
That's it - done! Contacts will sync automatically between the two phones like magic! No data loss, no technical knowledge needed, no settings / files / PC / USB to fiddle with!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move my text messages from my blackberry 9900 that I was using to my new android (G2) that I have transitioned to.I did find a program "blackberry 2 android" that sounds like it would be perfect but it gave me an error message so I am awaiting a reply from the developer.
I have never moved texts so I don't know how or what the exporting / importing process looks like. I know there is this app/site out there, but I would rather not buy an app for a one-time thing.

I'm having some problems with the porting of a rom, my phone is a clone of the phone from which i'm taking the rom (My phone is a NGM Legend 2, which is also a clone of Gionee GN868, and the original is Blu Vivo 4.3) the only thing which is really different are the mounting positions of the internal memory.
In Blu Vivo 4.3 the system partition is mounted on /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 and the data partition is on /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 while in the mine they are mounted on /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 and /dev/block/mmcblk0p6.
I changed them in the updater-script so i'm able to install the rom, but i had to replace the boot.img with the one from my rom because the phone wasn't booting up, but i can't install any app from google play store (error 110) or any apk ("app not installed" error).
I want to learn rom edit but how to porting themes on roms?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to port some package from Samsung ROM to CM following this guide and I'm stuck.I decompiled the package, removed TW dependency from the manifest and now I'm adding additional classes from TW framework into this package. Everything was smooth so far as I was getting rid of "class not found" and similar messages in logcat by adding the missing class and recompiling the package. When I try to run the app, I get the following message in logcat:
Code:
I/dalvikvm(30301): Could not find method com.sec.android.touchwiz.widget.TwAbsListView.isInDialog, referenced from method com.sec.android.touchwiz.widget.TwAbsListView.onHoverDrawableState
W/dalvikvm(30301): VFY: unable to resolve virtual method 9561:
[code]....
However, based on official documentation this method does not exist in this class. If I try to add android.view.ViewGroup and android.view.View from stock framework.jar into the package explicitly, I start getting "multiple definition" messages in logcat, and isInDialog still can't be resolved. So, I'm currently stuck.
