General :: CM 10.2 Source - Adding Halo To Rom
Dec 20, 2013
I successfully built the cm 10.2 source the other night and flashed it to my devices. I've also seen that the Paranoid Android team made Halo open source and can add it to their ROM using Git. I have found the two commits that I need to merge with my source code but how, I've tried google and searching through guides but nothing is working.

I know that lots of roms come with Halo now, but I've been wanting to stick with stock cm10.1 which unfortunately doesn't have it. Now I know that installing Halo is much more than just installing an apk, but How is Halo implemented into Roms, and if possible, some instruction on doing it myself.

I found an interesting tip over on the Tmobile forum that helped me out. I seam to get a real strong halo effect in my pictures from any light source, that blows out large parts of the photo. Most likely you have touched the camera lens while changing the battery or fooling about with the phone. Solution clean the camera lens and the inside and outside of the back cover. It is still far from great camera but, man, made it a whole lot better. All this time I thought it was just the crappy camera.

I want to add a contact just to my phone and not to my gmail account.Whenever I start to add a contact (phone, 208544.menu, +contact, create new contact,) the next thing it forces me to do is to choose an account to create the new contact under and it lists my 3 gmail accounts.I have no option to just put it on the phone.Any ideas here?We do the same thing on the Incredible but it gives us the gmail account and the phone to choose from but not on the Motorola.

I'm in the process of learning to build android from source. I've got my AOKP rom booting and am working on adding superuser to it, and am running into troubles. After much googling here is what I've done
Cloned Superuser source code
Code:
git clone git://github.com/ChainsDD/Superuser.git packages/apps/Superuser
Copied the su binary from my current rom (/system/xbin/su) to my device tree
Edited device.mk
Code:
# Build superuser
PRODUCT_PACKAGES :=
Superuser
# copy su binary
PRODUCT_COPY_FILES +=
device/lge/E973/su:system/xbin/su
Everything built fine and Superuser is in my app drawer when rom boots. If i try to open Superuser it force closes. Root checker shows that i am rooted, and typing 'su' in terminal emulator gets root access. Neither will give me a dialog asking to deny or grant.
If i install SuperSuperuser from the market, it will present all the normal dialogs and everything seems as it should.
Here is a logcat of the failed attempt to open superuser
Code:
D/dalvikvm( 2157): Late-enabling CheckJNI
I/ActivityManager( 530): Start proc com.noshufou.android.su for activity com.noshufou.android.su/.Su: pid=2157 uid=10040 gids={50040, 3003, 1015, 1028}
[Code] ......

When I started modding apps, I really didn't understand the smali part and only worked with XMLs. I created my first app a few days ago, and decompiled it. When I opened the smali folder, I was surprised to see the classes of my source code, each class was a smali file. I thought that the source java code didn't appear even after decompiling, only XMLs could be edited. But if smali represents the source code, can the source code then be edited?

Recently I pull down the source code for Koushik Dutta's Superuser app. I made some changes in the source. This changes are the following:
1. SuHelper class now throws 2 kind of exceptions instead of one generic instance of Exception. I believe it is better for developing. Different exceptions, different reasons, different action to do when they are catched.
2. Fixes for several Lint's warnings.
3. Fixes in translation.
4. UI new features:
a) At the first screen you can long click at an item several actions are shown ("Allow/Deny" which changes the permission without deleting the permission, "Revoke permission", "Details" leads to the same screen as a simple click oat an item).
b) At the details screen for every item/application and new checkbox/switch added to allow/deny superuser permission.
c) At settings screen miscellaneous settings added which refer to the pop-up dialog about the outdated su binary.
see the attached photos from the modified application.
I would like to ask 2 questions now:
1. Do you think that these changes are useful to you?
2. Should I pull the current HEAD of the from the repository or simply commit and push my changes?

I have downloaded the source code for my device - Lenovo S6000-H from the lenovo website but after reading many guides cant figure out how to compile it as all the rest use git to get the source. I also dont think I need to change any enviromental variables as its the source for my model.
Using ubuntu 12.04.3 with JDK 6u35 and have the latest Android JDK/NDK I have downloaded and install all needed programs and set up all my paths in ~/.bashrc
There isnt a single make file I can use to compile the whole system or does it need to be done in individual parts? Couldnt find a lunchrc file either so unsure on how to compile it to get a flashable rom..
